@MaryAndHerNet

People posting about their perfect lives are rarely living that ideal. Their lives are often all about external validation and the need for likes and clicks and comments. Fuck that for a way to live.
This, with knobs on.
TheWayTheLightFalls · 25/12/2021 14:32

Where does one find one of these snazzy new husbands? Asking for a friend.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/12/2021 14:39

Amazon have sold out, apparently. Some people had them delivered by Hermes, to the wrong adress.

CoffeeRunner · 25/12/2021 16:04

All fur coat & no knickers as my dear old dad would have said.

My mum would just have said "how very common".

Cyw2018 · 25/12/2021 17:23

BIL/SIL didn't post on Facebook about their £1k advent calendars this year, much to FILs disappointment as that is his 1 December entertainment Xmas Grin

Mrsmch123 · 25/12/2021 22:14

Does it make you braggy tho to show what you got for Xmas?seem like you can't post anything without it being "showing off" or unfair to someone somewhere. I posted about my babies first Christmas🤷🏻‍♀️

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 26/12/2021 02:25

Why is it wrong to show what you got for Christmas?
Your jealously over not having expensive perfume, a watch and a new husband is your problem not hers.

Feelingoood · 26/12/2021 03:20

Potatoes peeled ✅
Turkey in ✅
Veg prepped ✅
Kids playing happily ✅
Prosecco for mummy on the go ✅
Christmas ♥️

Ugh ugh ugh!
Potatoes peeled peelings everywhere
Pots from last night still to wash
Some idiot spilt grease doesn’t the units and dint clean it up. Sigh.
Kids be8ng lovely
Real champagne for mummy on the go ( ha!)

I am thinking of doing alternate Instagram where I show the horrible mess we live in.😂

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 26/12/2021 03:21

I will never understand these posts! I love seeing peoples happy posts on facebook, they make me happy too, because I actually like my facebook friends. I loved seeing everyone's xmas pics yesterday, I live in Oz so its the only way I can share their joy. If I think someone is a wanker, I just block them, its easy!

Also, why do people always say its false and that they are only portraying a false facade? Maybe, just maybe, they are genuinely happy and want to share that with their friends? Why on earth is that a problem. If you had a bad time, why does that mean they shouldn't post?

Andylion · 26/12/2021 03:41

@WheelieBinPrincess

We’ve just moved so are tripping over boxes and can’t get the oven to work properly. DH bought a turkey last minute for 75% off and we can’t cook the bastard 😂

And we have a three month old baby just to mix it up a bit more.

I’ve seen this post on Facebook this morning

Potatoes peeled ✅
Turkey in ✅
Veg prepped ✅
Kids playing happily ✅
Prosecco for mummy on the go ✅
Christmas ♥️

Yuck. The local pub is open so we might just sling our coats on, pop the baby in the buggy and head up there instead.

Why is that yuck? It seems that that person is posting about a basic level of Christmas contentment and not really bragging. Do you really begrudge them a working oven? perhaps your post was meant to be lighthearted,

(I am very grumpy as my internet and cable just went out over an hour ago. Thank goodness for hotspots.)

Fmesanta · 26/12/2021 04:24

@Insertfunnyname

I think if you don’t feel happiness for people when they share their happiness then you shouldn’t follow them.

Truly, someone else being pleased/happy/excited shouldn’t make you feel bitter.

I don’t understand. I don’t have new perfume/husband/Ferrari either but I sure as hell would be chuffed if one of my friends did!

Absolutely this. I was reading this thread and just can't resonate with people saying yuck about others finally being able to share some joy and happiness after a shitshow of nearly two years. Surely it's taught us to be more kind, compassionate and caring to others.

I personally love seeing that those nearest and dearest to me are happy and content and would hate to think that some of my friends may feel the same as some of you.

But I thought we all know that social media is a highlights reel of the good times in our life. Take it for that with a pinch of salt?!
beenthereboughtthetshirt · 26/12/2021 05:00

and this is why i do not whatsapp/insta/twitter/fb/tiktok.

cancelled accounts and do.not.miss.them.

This with jingle bells on Xmas Smile
DickMabutt73962 · 26/12/2021 05:08

Also my insta isn't full of these posts because I mostly follow meme accounts 😂 but some of the examples here would fit really well on the recent thread about cringe SM habits.

hiya89 · 26/12/2021 06:00

I'm not shallow so place no value in physical Christmas gifts. Posts like that don't make me jealous and wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

hiya89 · 26/12/2021 06:13

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants

Is it just me wondering if she got her amazing new husband for Christmas? What did she do with her old one. Not sure if the recycling centre take those (they wouldn't have mine) Xmas Grin
Perfume is a cocktail of chemicals. Like with nail salons, people who work in perfume shops are much more likely to develop cancer from inhaling the fumes regularly. So not everyone wears perfume or sees it as an amazing gift.

Also, a man can be cheating on his wife and buy expensive gifts. Not sure why these physical gifts are thought to make anyone an amazing husband.

Ginandplatonic · 26/12/2021 06:17

Why follow someone who annoys you? And why does a friend getting perfume and a watch (pretty standard Xmas presents surely?) annoy you so much anyway? Of course people only share highlights (or occasionally lowlights) of their life on social media. I don’t understand why people are still surprised or annoyed by this.

LouLou789 · 26/12/2021 06:50

In my experience, the people with the shiniest SM posts are the ones with the crappiest marriages, the biggest insecurities. Just give it a swerve.

EsmeraldaFudge · 26/12/2021 07:00

Had a discussion about this yesterday with my MIL as we both have a mutual friend on Facebook who is constantly writing about her amazing life. When we see her though she describes quite a miserable life where she is in a very unhappy marriage. I think she uses social media to feel loved/liked. So as much as I find her posts annoying, I actually feel sorry for her.

Woods52 · 26/12/2021 07:12

I clicked on this thread thinking it was about boastful postmen 🤣

RedHot22 · 26/12/2021 07:17

I love seeing other people’s happy posts

What makes me sad is that other people can’t be happy for others and take joy from that.

So much entitlement, resentment and jealousy

Chakraleaf · 26/12/2021 07:28

Injust ignore it. You know its not all as it seems :-)

Tabbacus · 26/12/2021 08:07

Someone posted their presents on christmas? Wow stop the press.

Lovelydiscusfish · 26/12/2021 08:26
