Do you wrap stocking fillers and stuff in sack.

In this house majority of presents come from us. For the last few years Santa brings a small stocking with some Christmas food treats and also and a sack with a few things in.

Do you wrap things from Santa if it's in the sack/stocking?

I don't wrap chocolates etc but the toys in the sack I normally do. But currently have covid and if it's a tiny bit of wrapping I can get out if I'll be pleased 😅 😷

Kids are quite young so won't remember it Santa wrapped or not last year! 😅

Yes, I’ve always wrapped most stocking presents apart from chocolate and cuddly toys. The DC are teens now but when they were little I had to make sure the Santa stocking paper was different from the one I used to wrap our presents.

Saz12 · 19/12/2021 18:42

I wrap pretty much everything, but usually the trainee elf does the stocking so it’s not that nicely done 🍷. Mostly because stocking is on end of bed and for small / cheap /practical / edible/ reading stuff that they’re allowed to open and play with before wakening anyone else - no getting adults up until 6am unless an emergency is the tile in our house.

Ie it’s wrapped to make my life easier. If it’s easier not to wrap small gifts, then do that.

DownToTheSeaAgain · 19/12/2021 18:52

I've always believed that not wrapping all stocking presents constitutes a form of child neglect.

I usually regret this rather extreme stance when am still sat up wrapping presents x4 stockings late on Xmas eve.

MadMadMadamMim · 19/12/2021 18:54

Yes, but Santa wraps very badly as he is extremely busy at this time of year.

Arthur Christmas (which I love) and his damned wrapping Elf 'Bryony' did me few favours....

longtompot · 19/12/2021 18:58

I do wrap everything. I have three kids and they have a colour tissue paper each so I wrap each stocking in one colour. Makes for a much easier time putting the stuff in when 'Santa' comes Wink I used to write their initials on them too, but now they are all over 20, I don't usually do that any more.

I wrap some of the bigger stocking items as that’s how I had it and liked it. However they get a stocking only here. Packed out with an orange in toe choc coons and a choc Santa in the top I have lovely memories of my stockings and my sister and I opening them together swapping the stuff our dad got mixed up waiting for mum to get up so we could see under the tree

Moomarre · 19/12/2021 18:59

No! The stocking is the wrapping here. Father Christmas does bring one larger present which is wrapped though

Agadorsparticus · 19/12/2021 19:00

Yes all wrapped except for the chocolate coins at the bottom. Start of the excitement and surprises.

fastandthecurious · 19/12/2021 19:00

Yes but DS loves unwrapping stuff. I don't bother wrapping DH's stocking and he doesn't wrap mine!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/12/2021 19:10

I always have, but much more scrappily, and with different, cheaper paper. Kids tear the paper off so fast, there’s no point in taking a lot of trouble.

crazyjinglist · 19/12/2021 19:11

Nope, the stocking is the wrapping!

Snailhaterz2 · 19/12/2021 19:18

My family tradition was that in Santa's stocking everything was wrapped in newspaper. In retrospect, this might have been so we'd take longer to unwrap everything in the early hours of the morning...

SBAM · 19/12/2021 19:35

No wrapping by Father Christmas here, but I’m deliberately trying to keep FC very low key.

He fills a stocking with small toys/trinkets and leaves one gift, which has a ribbon and gift tag but no paper. The gift tag has the child’s name and a Santa sticker but nothing else. Stockings are hung on the fireplace before bed, but might be on the floor in the morning as I don’t trust the stocking holders and the presents are left in front of the fire.

mam0918 · 19/12/2021 19:38

No Santa doesn't have time to wrap things.

Gifts from us to each other are wrapped, Santa gifts are in a Sack and a stocking is just tradition (but not wrapped either).

Cattitudes · 19/12/2021 19:43

We do, different colours for each dc. Having said that then I have read people wrapping in silver foil and just crunching it rather than needing sellotape. Or buying paper bags and just pop one present in each bag.

Puffinhead · 19/12/2021 19:46

No, never wrapped.

DiamondBright · 19/12/2021 19:48

I wrap everything except sweets or chocolate in stockings.

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 19/12/2021 19:52

Yes all stocking presents wrapped in the same paper. Presents from me/DH wrapped in brown craft paper with a different coloured ribbon per family member.

Anyone who is staying with us for Christmas Day receives a stocking from Father Christmas.

HelloDulling · 19/12/2021 19:55

Wrapped. Tho, I have just ordered 100 Christmassy paper bags from Amazon for about £6, thanks to a PP.

UndertheCedartree · 19/12/2021 20:05

@AD80 - my 2 put their stockings on the fireplace and I honestly think it is so much better than being in their rooms. So many people on here having to stay up late to make sure the DC are really asleep and then trying not to wake them when sneaking in to fill the stocking. I just fill their stockings at my leisure and go to bed when I want!

I'll wrap everything in the sacks, but after wrapping over 100 presents for those, I can't be arsed to wrap everything in the stockings too. Plus, stocking bits are usually tiny so they'd be more sellotape than paper, and I'd end up with frustrated kids!

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 19/12/2021 20:15

@TwoBlueFish

Everything in the stocking gets wrapped here. That’s what my mum did for me so it’s what I do for my kids.
Same. I usually only got 1 or 2 presents apart from the stocking. The joy of feeling that heavy, rustling weight at the end of the bed in the morning and the anticipation of opening them all is still a visceral memory, even now. I couldn't deny my kids that!
Reallybadidea · 19/12/2021 20:21

I've always wrapped, but this year I've bought a bunch of little reusable jute gift bags with Christmassy patterns and I'll be putting little things in that. Saves me time, they still get to unwrap them and they can be used again.

Glittergoblin · 19/12/2021 20:24

No wrapping for stocking gifts here Smile
