Do you wrap stocking fillers and stuff in sack.

In this house majority of presents come from us. For the last few years Santa brings a small stocking with some Christmas food treats and also and a sack with a few things in.

Do you wrap things from Santa if it's in the sack/stocking?

I don't wrap chocolates etc but the toys in the sack I normally do. But currently have covid and if it's a tiny bit of wrapping I can get out if I'll be pleased 😅 😷

Kids are quite young so won't remember it Santa wrapped or not last year! 😅

In our house the Santa gifts are wrapped very badly. And the small stocking gifts are wrapped in twisted tissue.

I take time to wrap my gifts properly with great care but the elves have very low standards.

ShowOfHands · 19/12/2021 20:27

We only do a stocking and a sack. Stocking is from FC and contains around 6 small items and the sack is stuff from us and family.

I absolutely loved the rustle of the paper in my stocking as I clutched it at 3am, wishing for the time to pass. Truly one of my happiest memories and I couldn't not wrap. Interestingly, both DC have described the same anticipation, the telltale rustle and the joy of slowly unwrapping when you are desperate to rip.

Santa uses tissue paper. I thought that was standard Smile

Lacedwithgrace · 19/12/2021 20:45

Some things get wrapped. Books and similar easy shapes do, chocolate coins and teddies don't

That said, my daughter had just turned two and we've decided not to wrap her stocking fillers this year. We did last year and it took two days to open all her presents because she kept getting bored (forgivable as a just-turned-1-year-old!), falling asleep or generally getting overwhelmed. This year we'll show her what's in the stocking then help her open her wrapped presents at her leisure. Next year though, and future years, always wrapped in stockings!

Only stocking is from Santa in our house and he wraps with tissue paper. It’s much faster.

MyNameIsJane · 19/12/2021 20:55

I use tissue paper plus ikea usually do paper gift/treat bags. (They have sold out now) They normally come in 2 designs.

OverByYer · 19/12/2021 21:00

I wrap most of the stocking stuff bar sweets and smellies. My two are 18 and 21 but have still done a small stocking to help them stock up on pants, socks , smellies etc;

ZippyZap · 19/12/2021 21:03

Yes..... Such an ordeal though for 5 kids!!! I start wrapping in November as I buy bits and try really hard to write down which paper is used for stockings and which is for mains but I think I might have buggered that up this year... But luckily the older kids won't mention the mistake and the 3 year old will just be impressed that santa used the same paper that we did ha ha!!!

BurbageBrook · 19/12/2021 21:05

Unwrapping the presents makes it a much longer and more exciting process.

CeibaTree · 19/12/2021 21:05

We wrap all stocking presents (around 5-6 per stocking) but make sure we don’t use the same wrapping paper on any other gifts as that would totally give the game away!

Bumply · 19/12/2021 21:07

I wrapped stocking presents as well as main ones.
Partly because my boys would open their stockings in bed next to each other and if one tipped all theirs out and they weren't wrapped the other son would lose all the surprise factor (they had identical stockings until teens)

caringcarer · 19/12/2021 21:18

I don't wrap chocolate coins/Brussel Sprouts or chocolate Santa but I do wrap presents because half the fun is unwrapping the gifts.

FlyingPandas · 19/12/2021 21:36

All stocking presents wrapped here. I agree with a PP, there's something magical about the rustling of paper inside the stocking or sack, and the excitement of unwrapping lots of individual little gifts. I remember it so well from my childhood. It just wouldn't be the same to simply tip out a load of unwrapped items.

I always wrap stocking gifts well in advance of Christmas Eve and I wrap everything, including the nets of chocolate coins and packets of popping candy. Sometimes it feels like a faff but I'm always glad I've done it when we get to Christmas Day. I use one different set of wrapping paper for each DC and hide any leftovers, I never use the same paper for stocking gifts as I do for other gifts. In the early days this was so they didn't notice that Santa had the same paper as we used! Bit ridiculous now as my older two haven't believed for years (17 and 12) but I still do it as it's part of the ritual and the tradition.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 19/12/2021 21:42

@FlyingPandas that was me with the rustling and I do exactly the same with the different papers!

Explosivefarts · 19/12/2021 21:45

Yeah wrapping buys me more time in the morning to drink my coffee

ChristmasWithBellsOn · 19/12/2021 22:03

The Big Man wraps stocking stuff in red tissue paper, a single layer for ease of access.

ChristmasWithBellsOn · 19/12/2021 22:04

....with exception chocolate coins.

Datsandcogs · 19/12/2021 22:26

Mine have a sack each, all wrapped except food. Wrapping for each child’s sack is different and the paper in the sack is not used for other presents. (Thank heavens for 2 children and Costco double sided wrapping paper!!) wrapping it all adds to the anticipation and extends the time it takes. I sorted and wrapped all their Christmas sack contents and main presents in a couple of hours last week.

Now that they’re older and no longer believer, they actually stuffed each other’s sacks before bedtime on Christmas Eve, they loved that last year!

Timeisavirtue · 19/12/2021 22:28

Yep all wrapped, I think a major part of the magic is unwrapping. That’s what I used to think as a kid...

DockOTheBay · 19/12/2021 22:33

I wrap it all. I love wrapping and I think it makes it more fun to open each item. Mine have approx 10 things each but I don't wrap the chocolate coins or percy pigs or stickers so maybe 7 wrapped items.

Mine don't have stocking but boxes so they would be able to see everything straight away if it wasn't wrapped. I would still wrap it if in a stocking or sack though

yumyumpoppycat · 19/12/2021 22:35

Similarly to others an orange in the toe and some chocolate coins, maybe a candy cane, and all presents other than cuddles wrapped like I used to have. Have dropped the orange though as wasn't being eaten 🙄 Funny how the traditions get carried on.

I wouldn't be surprised though if Santa decided to help out the environment nowadays by not wasting paper end ribbons etc when the sticking can be the wrapper. One nicely wrapped gift might br good.

DockOTheBay · 19/12/2021 22:37

Well this thread has taught me that people have a stocking and a sack. I thought a sack was just an alternative for people who thought a stocking wasn't big enough. Are both from santa?

BigGreen · 19/12/2021 22:42

We have sacks from Santa and don't usually wrap

dementedma · 19/12/2021 22:43

Dont wrap stocking stuff
