Hot Chocolate Station

Is anyone doing a hot chocolate station/bar this year?

What have you got on it? Pictures welcome! Grin

I'm in the process of putting mine together but it feels a bit underwhelming so looking for ideas!

@IpanemaPeaHen this sounds so nice Smilecan I ask where you ordered the stand / trays from
My
Mind has gone total blank

Hi @foxlover47 I just used stuff I already had and added some Christmas napkins and snowflakes, Santa tea lights etc. I did look online for a new stand but decided I have enough stuff already so repurposed what I had.

The dc were really impressed and wouldn’t have noticed if I’d bought new stuff. I did get some new Whittards hot chocolate in lots of different flavours but we think they are a bit sickly so that’s the only disappointment Xmas Smile

@IpanemaPeaHen photos please!

@RaisedByPangolins station is beautiful!

I don’t even like hot chocolate much, but this thread makes me want a hot chocolate station at home !

Ok so, I want to do this but we are now isolating so I can’t nip out to home bargains for cheap jars etc. can anyone recommend any reasonably priced glass jars from Amazon or what have you?

Also, one of my kids doesn’t like cream or marshmallows - does anyone know if you can get chocolate flavour skooshy cream? Just trying to think of a nice topping….

Thanks!

ParadiseLaundry · 13/12/2021 14:02

@PastelGiraffe do you have any old jars in cupboards or anything you could reuse? All of mine are old candle jars, glass drinks bottles etc that I decorated with ribbon.

The dairy free squirty cream replacement is really nice, I think it's called Heavenly Whipped, would that be worth a try?

I'm sure I've seen chocolate squirty cream from M&S

Definitely chocolate scoosh cream in asda

PastelGiraffe · 13/12/2021 18:12

Thanks so much for your replies @ParadiseLaundry @pizzaobsessed and @RJnomore1 - that really helps!

I tend to reuse glass jars for lentils and other stuff anyway so will have to see if I have any in the house but yes, good idea. Thanks for your help!

@MrsDThomas, get off Mumsnet threads you have no interest in. You're on this one too much Grin

I've name changed from when I popped in this thread earlier, but I made my hot chocolate station too in the end, and I love it! Our elves done it for the kids on the 1st Dec and they were over the noon, I may have also indulged in a few myself Wink

I'm disappointed this morning because I've just realised how low on 'station supplies' we are and I've not added anything to my shopping delivery coming today and we're all at home with nasty chest infections so don't fancy popping to get them.

WhoAmI22 · 14/12/2021 09:52

Should have proof read before posting 🙄

StrawberrySanta · 14/12/2021 10:10

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Tesco do hot chocolate dust in different flavours, basically flavoured sugar to sprinkle on top. Vanilla/chocolate/salted caramel/red velvet. The red would be especially festive

StrawberrySanta · 14/12/2021 10:11

And I don't know if you've mentioned how you're doing it but keeping the hot chocolate warm in the slow cooker works well!

foxlover47 · 14/12/2021 10:14

@IpanemaPeaHen thank you I'm going to make mine this weekend :) enjoy yours it sounds lovely 🎄🎅😊

IpanemaPeaHen · 14/12/2021 11:23

@foxlover47 mine is very popular good luck with yours. I didn’t bother with jars because I don’t have any and things would disappear Wink but I do put out a few after school treats on the Santa plate. Might bake a few gingerbread people for dunking as we get closer to Christmas.

JovialNickname · 18/12/2021 20:37

Oh how the other half live xx but it sounds lovely and a really fun and luxurious gift for your guests x
