Is anyone doing a hot chocolate station/bar this year?

What have you got on it? Pictures welcome! Grin

I'm in the process of putting mine together but it feels a bit underwhelming so looking for ideas!

We all hate hot choc in this house but we have a hot beverage basket GrinGrin all la Mrs Bucket.
We have teas, flavoured coffees, syrups, sprinkles, marshmallows and the mulled wine.

I bought a Milk Frother ( I looked at the Velvetiser but my frother has a jug that lifts off and can go in the dishwasher and the temperature can go higher if I want )
I have some Knoops chocolate and Alpro (DD and I use soya ) but I think I need a barista oat milk as it holds the froth better . DD didn't think it was sweet enough but I was fine .

I did an Ice Cream Sundae Station for DS birthday one year - sauces , fruits, sprinkles, Flakes and different flavour ice creams .

@70isaLimitNotaTarget ooh, what brand is it? I need this in my life!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/11/2021 19:59

Really it's a Miroco , I bought it on Amazon after loads of searching ( I wanted a DW safe jug, with a pouring lip , this one has 4 settings - froth cold/heat/froth&heat/hot chocolate )

Decent capacity 500ml for hot chocolate up to 75-85c

I don't usually irder hot chocolate if I go out , it tends to be way too sweet but DH and I wandered into Knoops in Brighton , it was delicious .

Once I get some Barista Oatey , I;m going to try some latte coffee !

Reallybadidea · 27/11/2021 20:21

Brilliant, thank you!

I could cry reading this. I love a good cocoa but I have an hernia thar hates anything other than tepid tap water Envy I have done the oatmilk variant but it's a sensitive and stubborn bloody hernia.

Fyi, if you want to go all out you need home made miniature 3d gingerbread houses that sit on the rim of the cup.

Teaandtoastedbiscuits · 27/11/2021 21:43

Baileys are doing chocolate bombs this year

Honeymint · 28/11/2021 06:39

@RicherThanYew
Would you go for a really nice chocolate milk instead? It’s not quite as festive but maybe you could do it up with cream and toppings just the same?
I hope your hernia gets better soon!

AlwaysLatte · 28/11/2021 06:53

Is that where you get hot chocolate trains?

Gensola · 28/11/2021 07:44

Sherry station sounds more my kind of thing Grin

Chakraleaf · 28/11/2021 07:46

We have instant hot chocolate in a tub next to the kettle. That's as far as it goes.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 28/11/2021 09:14

Not a hot chocolate station but we have a little tradition of having a film afternoon with slow cooker hot chocolate. It's 300g chocolate, a litre of whole.milk, 100ml of double cream but could use more or less plus 2 spoons of Nutella or similar. On low for a few hours. It's really rich but delicious!

Ooh, I remember seeing the cookie cutters for these a few years ago and I've always regretted not buying them!

It's a slippery slope, you start off with a hot chocolate station, then you realise you need a North Pole breakfast too...

UniBallEye · 29/11/2021 13:32

OP I love the sounds of your station!
We had one last year and will again this year. We had tiny heart shaped chocolate coated lebkuchen, large marshmallows, tiny marshmallows, candy canes, chocolate drops, chocolate stirrers, christmas tree shaped pretzels, and squirty cream.

This year we have a velvetizer so will have that at the heart of the set up.

I adore kitch things like this and I am on the look out for a nice sign this year to add to my fairy lights...

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 29/11/2021 14:35

SylviaTrench what's a north pole breakfast? Snow? Frozen fish/ seal meat? ShockWink

RaisedByPangolins · 07/12/2021 19:38

Feeling the need to add a little sign of some sort but I’ve got the thermal dispenser ready, marshmallows, mini biscuits, candy canes, flakes, sprinkles, glittery cocoa powder, matchmakers and Malteser reindeer. Have provided mini tongs and scoops to try and keep little fingers out Grin and a little rubbish bucket at the end for wrappers etc.

If I did that in my house, it would just look messy as fuck. I don't have the knack :(

KobaniDaughters · 08/12/2021 07:05

I am so stealing this for a Christmas evening thing we’re having on 22nd!

Heidipi · 08/12/2021 09:01

Love this! I’m doing a mini boxed version for the work secret Santa - my giftee loves hot choc and has small children and teenagers so am hoping it will be a winner.

IpanemaPeaHen · 08/12/2021 09:33

I went ahead and created a hot chocolate stand after reading this thread. I used trays, decks, and lights we already had, did a homemade sign and just bought some new hot chocolate flavours, squirty cream and marshmallows.

I’ve limited hot chocolate to Monday, Wednesday and Friday but my dc walk 50 min each day and it’s nice to have something to look forward to after school Xmas Smile
