Secret santa for a "luxury" man

Oldnews · 25/11/2021 15:36

I've drawn my lovely colleague in the secret santa and I'm stumped!

He's young, early 30s and loves the finer things in life. He only wears discreet elegant designer clothes, dines at fancy restaurants and likes high end whiskies.

What can I get him for £15??!!!

newton's cradle is 15 quid - might be deemed naff though

Sorry, just noticed it’s out of stock. John Lewis have some though and have 20% off Aesop products at the moment.

Very good bars of chocolate. These kind of things:

MauveMavis · 25/11/2021 18:15

Little water jug.

if you drink decent cask strength malt you need to add water!

sansucre · 25/11/2021 18:15

I had a similar secret santa a few years ago and bought this keep cup

He loved it.

30% off at the moment too!

A book?

How about this Stephen Fry one about his collection of ties...

Black silk evening socks

WillThisUsernameDo · 25/11/2021 18:23

To be honest if he’s really into only luxury things you’re going to struggle to get something that he actually likes for £15. I thought the point of secret Santa was to get something personal/ jokey? A notebook or a pair of socks is a bit of a cop out and I’d be a bit hurt if someone got me something so very generic for a secret Santa. Isn’t there a funny mug or something he’d like? Some in joke at work that you could get a gift about?

The4teddybears · 25/11/2021 18:25

A nice men’s umbrella

HelplesslyHoping · 25/11/2021 18:25

Homesense and similar shops sell 'fancy' candles- sandalwood and leather, tobacco and smoke or whatever. Usually in smart jars and for less than £15. If he doesn't like it, he can gift it again.

opinionminion · 25/11/2021 18:26

Molton Brown shower gel

greenlynx · 25/11/2021 18:28

I would go for personalized item or something with funny slogan. It could be even box “my stuff” if he keeps something at work.

WillThisUsernameDo · 25/11/2021 18:34

No, not Molten Brown shower gel. That’s nearly as bad as a Costa card. I think of you really don’t know what to get him a Christmas card with the receipt and £14 inside is at least slightly more personal than a shower gel or a gift voucher.

SequinsandStiIettos · 25/11/2021 18:38

if it's naff you want the menkind site had a 15 quid willy care kit
www.menkind.co.uk/willy-care-kit
or you could just get a squawking black and gold stress chicken
www.menkind.co.uk/animolds-stress-chickens-medium
I suspect choking the chicken for stress relief is the not so subtle joke here.

I'd stick with the whisky

My DH is in this demographic and he would HATE a jokey mug but be chuffed with posh socks or a Moleskine notebook. I’d be buying him socks this year other than the fact he has so many the drawer is full to bursting!

OP I also reckon the Masters of Malt set is a good shout - I’ve bought these before on a Black Friday discount, it’s good value, and they’re genuinely good whisky, not a novelty gift.

RaisinFlapjack · 25/11/2021 18:55

Other things that have been suggested that I would swerve:

Molton Brown toiletries (but yes to Aesop)
Homesense candles
Any kind of novelty item
Anything personalised (unless it’s something my discretely monogrammed, even then that’s risky).
Hotel Chocolate (but yes to Cocoa Runners)
A gonk Hmm

I have lived with a man like this for 20 years, I know of what I speak!

RaisinFlapjack · 25/11/2021 18:56

Falke Airport socks are a hit with DH and around the £15 mark.

Kuachui · 25/11/2021 18:56

does he smoke? you can get these really cool lighters that attach to the back of your phone for £15

Zodlebud · 25/11/2021 18:58

One pound over but some of these

I got some in a secret Santa last year as I always joke my number twos smell like Chanel. It’s a swanky brand and they are actually REALLY good. It had comedy value too.

gogohm · 25/11/2021 19:00

Bamboo socks, ethical, super comfortable. Perhaps some chocolate - local ethical supermarket to me has good Belgian branded chocolate for £5

Needdoughnuts · 25/11/2021 19:27

Amazon have the Mister Men Mr Perfect tin containing some chocs for £8. Then some other gift to go with it, socks? Whisky miniatures? I never have ideas for SS!

evtheria · 25/11/2021 19:55

A) shoe cleaning kit, depending on whether he likes a designer trainer or traditional boot:

B) www.trouva.com/products/archivist-luxury-matches Frivolous but v cool box of matches, you could pick up a travel size candle or incense to accompany, muji is good for inexpensive but good looking ones. C) www.oliverbonas.com/gift/spreadable-whiskey-single-malt-marmalade and a fresh loaf of sourdough or other suitably rustic looking bread, obv bought on day of gifting D) www.oliverbonas.com/gift/wine-bottle-thermometer-329199
Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2021 19:58

Fifteen scratchcards

evtheria · 25/11/2021 19:59

Oh! And E) a monogrammed notecard set off Papier with his name or initials. There’s a referrals thread where you can ask mnetters (or me Wink) for a tenner off.

I recommend this design, safe but stylish:
