Just gone on at 05.40am and I’m 6223 in a queue already.
It doesn’t open until 6am !

Admittedly I hardly ever shop at Tesco so I must be a low priority customer!

MyOtherProfile · 16/11/2021 08:15

This is weird. I forgot till I saw this thread. Just went on the app, got straight through and had a choice of times on 23rs Dec.

How can that be? Don’t get it
MatildaIThink · 16/11/2021 08:19

I would not be relying on a delivery 22-24 this year, there will likely be shortages and you will not know until late, there could also be issues with drivers and whole deliveries or rounds cancelled. The best option will almost certainly be to go to the store(s) yourself.

Sallycinnamum · 16/11/2021 08:19

I didn't have any trouble either. Logged into the app dead on 6am and got a slot on 23rd. Checked out within a few mins.

Just checked and there are still lots of slots available although the 23rd is filled up.

Whatwillbewilbe · 16/11/2021 08:19

In case some people don't realise, Christmas slots are only open for delivery saver customers.

tradition · 16/11/2021 08:19

@Silverswirl

Help! I’ve got on after queuing Why is my app only showing up to the 6th December!!?
Me too. I'm a priority (shielding) customer but not a saver plus delivery. Do you think that is why no slots available to me past 6 Dec?
MatildaIThink · 16/11/2021 08:20

@Silverswirl
Different demand in different areas, glitch in the queuing system, something else.

Where do you live? Nothing past the 6th here from 8am
MatildaIThink · 16/11/2021 08:22

@tradition

They are only available for Delivery Saver customers.

AnnaSW1 · 16/11/2021 08:26

For anyone in central London full availability up to Xmas Eve for me just now.

SisterAgatha · 16/11/2021 08:32

Ffs why can I never add any of the Xmas stuff, it’s just greyed out and says only available between xx and xx, and yet my slot is!!?! Even the food to order isn’t available.

SisterAgatha · 16/11/2021 08:33

Also, north London here and every slot still available x

Final stock levels and distribution will not have been confirmed yet. As you have the slot just come back between xx and xx to add the Christmas bits once the are available.
Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 16/11/2021 08:54

It was more straightforward and quicker than last year. Only waited about half an hour and got exactly what I needed.

DingDingTriangle · 16/11/2021 09:08

Top tip! If you generally buy mostly the same things each week eg bread, milk etc., then once you've chosen your slot go to your orders page and open one of the orders you've previously had delivered, you should be able to add the entire order to your basket and then check out. I tend to do this and then just refine my order before delivery. This way if there's another tesco app/website glitch you will actually receive some of the things you actually want, rather than just a sprout or bottle of champagne! Of course it's a bit different for a Christmas shop as you'll want different things, but for any other time it's useful.

Suggestions2021 · 16/11/2021 09:11

Good tip triangle!

There was a lot of choice for us too and we were booking for two areas. Does seem like a lottery.

GinnyMackesy · 16/11/2021 09:22

I've just posted on the other thread. Despite joining at 6am and a very long wait, there was nothing left after the 21st. I was trying to book for vulnerable, Tesco-registered 'priority' customers, who also pay for the Delivery Pass and have a weekly delivery. Tesco need to rethink how they organise this. Stopping people booking more than one slot in Christmas week and preventing queue-jumping via the app would be a start. 'Priority' doesn't seem to mean what it should mean to Tesco this week.

NotSorry · 16/11/2021 10:00

@GinnyMackesy

Not sure how people got on quicker via the app, I was still in a queue for 90 minutes on there - could only get 20th December so I took that - I won't bother with my usual Saturday delivery on the 18th

MyOtherProfile · 16/11/2021 10:07

@Silverswirl it must depend on where you live. Do you have a delivery subscription? If not the Christmas slots won't be available yet.

@MatildaIThink that's why I book my slot for early on 23. Gives me plenty of time to pick up anything missing when I collect my turkey.

Sallycinnamum · 16/11/2021 10:34

@Silverswirl I'm on the east London borders.

I've just had another look and 23 and 24th are all booked but there's plenty of empty slots either side of those dates.

goose1964 · 16/11/2021 10:58

DH got on at 6.30, when he went back in to see if anyone had changed their mind, to get a better time nearly every slot in our town had been booked. We got the 22nd but really wanted the 23rd.

SisterAgatha · 16/11/2021 12:23

I want 90 mins in the app 😐

SisterAgatha · 16/11/2021 12:24

Waited*

I just put in a bottle of champagne to secure it.

DH booked it this year for the first time. He hadn’t realised the carnage that it is, he clearly doesn’t listen to me moan about it. It took him 45 mins on the app.
@Sallycinnamum Tesco don’t deliver on the 24th.
