This year DH and I are just buying each other a few quality consumable items. I want to give him a general list then he can pick a few things off it and choose the exact variety.

So far I have:

Pink champagne truffles
High quality shower gel eg Loccitane, Neals Yard or similar
White Company candle

Is there anything else you can suggest?

Note, I am a big reader so planning to get the new Kindle paperwhite.

OP posts:

@MilduraS

I was disappointed by Neom candles too. Diptyque are my absolute favourites. I usually buy Feu des Bois which is a very wintery candle (smells like a woodfire but in a lovely way). I've just bought the Narguile candle and even DH is obsessed with it. Also just bought Baies which is quite girly, berries and rose. I smell rose more than anything and it reminds me of the scent of some Oskia skincare products.
Baies is gorgeous! I also love Tuberose (currently have that in the living room).

Diptique Christmas candle

Where can I buy pure cashmere socks that aren't £££££££?

Cos are doing some for £25 - any use? They claim their stuff is sourced in line with various environmental and welfare standards, but I don't know how true that is. The socks (pink) do look nice though.

They are cashmere and nylon mix 🙁

Lovely scented handcream from Jo Malone
A beautiful calendar to hang on the wall for the new year
Cashmere gloves and matching scarf
Chanel / Dior nail polish and matching lipstick
A luxury leather makeup bag or lipstick case for your handbag

@BeaLola I really rate Diptyque Shower Oil, I've had the Do Son one for a few Christmases now and love it. From memory they are scented like their perfumes not the candles so you would need to be familiar. I also buy the Aromatherapy Associates shower oils, as I'm a big fan of them too.

Failing that, Le Labo shower oils are lush.

Kindle voucher!

What about a subscription to something so you have a new present each month? Depends on your interests but if you like perfume there are scent subscription services where you receive a selection each month? Or a beauty one like Glossybox? Or as PP said, glossy magazine? Also subscriptions for food items, for everything really!

For luxury knitwear look at Avoca. They are an Irish wool brand/producer.

We used to live in Dublin and Avoca was the place I'd most like to win a trolly dash around. Their wool is sensational. Throws, scarves etc they may also do the cashmere socks as per PP. I pretty much live in my hot pink wide cashmere scarf from there.

Also see their own brand soaps - the lemon verbena is sensational.

I'd like to thank the PP who alerted me to the existence of truffle crisps. These are on my next ocado order to have with my martini on Xmas morning. I shall save them just for me.

OP for me the luxury comes from better versions of existing items. Last year it was airpods instead of my rubbish amazon copies, new ugg gloves to replace my worn out 8yr old pair, and I always get 80% chocolate buttons from Chococo instead of my aldi dark chocolate.

RubyFakeLips thank ou - I will enjoy investigating

I always buy johnstons of elgin cashmere socks from ebay. Some of these are around £40 for pure cashmere. They are the best and way cheaper than you can get the brand in Harrods or online.

Not exactly a consumable, but if you like to sew, the etsy embroidery kits are beautiful and you can have them framed into pictures.
