This year DH and I are just buying each other a few quality consumable items. I want to give him a general list then he can pick a few things off it and choose the exact variety.

So far I have:

Pink champagne truffles
High quality shower gel eg Loccitane, Neals Yard or similar
White Company candle

Is there anything else you can suggest?

Note, I am a big reader so planning to get the new Kindle paperwhite.

Tony Chocolonely
Spacemasks
Things for the garden?
T2 tea
Fancy hot chocolate
Bee happy shower gel from Neal's Yard
Lip balm
Sweetbird peach tea syrup
Turtledoves

Some ideas:
Ugg slippers
Good quality pjs
Sweaty Betty or Luluelemon leggings
Barbour jacket

Mulhollandmagoo · 13/11/2021 20:44

Do you drink tea or coffee? Posh tea bags or a really good quality groud coffee would be my pick. I absolutely love the olaplex hair products but they can be a bit on the pricey side, they do gift sets though, so maybe those would make the list too?

I had to retire early due to ill health last year. As part of my Christmas present last year, my husband bought me a years subscription to my favourite glossy magazine as he knew I wouldn’t buy it any more as it’s frivolous and I’m living on a pension now. It was such a fab gift and I smile each time it arrives. ( I have dropped quite a large hint that having next year would be fab too)

Silk pillowcase (£24 - half price in TKMAXX!).
A chocolate toad from Fortnums.

@TheChosenTwo

Something I buy myself quite often is space masks, but I suffer from migraines and these are lovely to use when I’m coming out the other side! Also l’occitane almond shower oil is one of my staples. Nail varnish and seche vite top coat. Tweezerman tweezers. Hotel chocolat Black Forest hot chocolate (delicious but I don’t have a velvetiser and find one and a half packets is perfect in a saucepan and milk) Nothing silly expensive but all things I use regularly and know I’ll use, none of it will sit gathering dust which is my pet hate at any time let alone Christmas.
@TheChosenTwo I too have a slight addiction to the black forest hot chocolate (I told myself it was for the festive season but on the 2nd box between DD and I Blush). I also agree space masks are fantastic, I wouldn’t be without them.
@yoshiblue He could get you the paperwhite if he knows that's what you want, depending on his budget.
Thanks, yes he could, I just fancied a few nice bits to open Smile

TheChosenTwo · 13/11/2021 21:53

@DobbyTheHouseElk I said to dh last time I bought some that the C&W truffled tasted waxy/greasy, they didn’t always taste like that I don’t think! They were disappointing and never got finished Sad

Yes @Jumpingintochristmas I’m on my second box of them too, the dds also like them. I don’t ever drink hot drinks including hot chocolate but this is so decadent - especially with squirty cream, marshmallows both over and on top of the cream and a flake crumbled over the top Grin

TheChosenTwo · 13/11/2021 21:53

Sorry, both UNDER and on top of the cream…

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/11/2021 22:15

@TheChosenTwo I know. We didn’t finish them. They tasted cheap and greasy. Such a shame because they should have been delicious..

Lotusmonster · 13/11/2021 22:20

Voucher for afternoon tea somewhere posh.

Thewiseoneincognito · 13/11/2021 22:24

Always Diptyque candles.

Fortnum hamper

Chanel hydrating face mask

Torres Truffle crisps DI-FUCKING-VINE 👌🏼

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 13/11/2021 22:50

A Dolce & Gabbana panettone - I know it's ridiculous but they're delicious and come in the most beautiful tins.

You can get them from Sous Chef who also have lots of other unusual fancy consumables, I love the Lakrids liquorice and also the French fruit jellies. And they do Torres truffle crisps which are great.

me4real · 14/11/2021 01:35

@yoshiblue Is there a perfume you might like? I have some and I like that they last for months/years, so he'd not just be getting you something for that day, but it's still naice. Smile

If you don't have a fave already, I quite like Flowerbomb Midnight www.johnlewis.com/viktor-rolf-flowerbomb-midnight-eau-de-parfum/p4027539

But I should be following this thread for suggestions really. Smile

yoshiblue · 14/11/2021 10:50

Thanks everyone - I now have a massive list!

@CurryLover55 'naice' was said in jest - It's just a mumsnet thing!

@me4real Yes that's a good idea. I haven't had any new perfume since pre lockdowns, so could do with a high quality one.

@BeaLola Where do you buy Lindt champagne truffles from please - I can't seem to find them easily online?

JustJoinedRightNow · 14/11/2021 11:28

I know you’ve had a lot of suggestions but just adding mine. Molton Brown hand wash and hand cream. I got some for my birthday one year and it was so lovely!

Legoninjago1 · 14/11/2021 11:31

A silk pillowcase

BeaLola · 14/11/2021 12:00

yoshiblu you can only buy them loose - I am not sure if they do them online (?) I buy them at the Lindt shop at Mcarthur Glen outlet - I am lucky in that we pass one (ie slight diversion !) from seeing a relative - they have white wrapper with gold edges - I love them - a couple of years back couldn get them at all as apparently they had problems meeting demand. I am not sure if stand alone Lindt shops sell them in storre ? perhaps a MN will be able to advise us ?

BeaLola · 14/11/2021 12:03

Meant to ask on this incredibly good thread what Diptyque olis & shower products are like ? I think my DH will divorceme if I request another candle as have a fair few to use .....

Forgot to add Im a big lover of Aromatherapy Associates - their Atomiser is fab & wouldmake it on t my list as well as the bathoils set - worth keeping an eye on their website as they have various November discounts

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/11/2021 12:05

I'd swap the White Stuff candle for a Diptique 😍

I'd also have expensive face cream (the Clarins super restorative ones suit my skin) on my list.

Stopyourhavering64 · 14/11/2021 12:06

Flower subscription from Arena Flowers....got one for my birthday and love having fresh flowers in the house every fortnight ( they last so well and are ethically produced)
