Shamelessly looking for ideas for myself. DH forgot my birthday this year (we had a lot going on) so is wanting ideas of "something decent" to get me this year to make up for it.

I am unreasonably hard to buy for. I'm low maintenance, don't have any particular hobbies, buy myself things when I need them etc. I usually give him a list of stuff like new slippers, face cream, bottle of booze type of thing.

I don't really need or want anything in particular and would be perfectly happy with my usual stuff but he unreasonably wants to get something more substantial.

Sooo what is on your wish list that I might want to ask for?

@cookiemonster5 would you mind linking the one you're getting? My DD really suffers with back/shoulder pain, this sounds like it might be helpful! Thanks

MagicalFish · 07/11/2021 21:52

I've asked DH for tickets to see The Ocean at the End of the Lane at the theatre.

I've asked family for a diary, a steel sports bottle, Mark Lanegan's autobiography and Le Cresuet ovenware.

I want all of the shoes from Moda in pelle, they are a local business and their leather shoes are so soft.

Don't ask for a hoover for Christmas!! Sacrilege!

Hesma · 07/11/2021 22:07

I’d like a long warm hooded coat that covers my bum as I’ve got a new job and walk to work

Biffsboys · 07/11/2021 22:10

A nice pair of well made leather boots

JennyForeigner · 07/11/2021 22:13

Charbonnel et Walker champagne truffles.

Just for me.

Timeisavirtue · 07/11/2021 22:14

I don’t usually care too much about gifts but people badger me constantly about what to get... I told DP one hoodie I wanted but he’s brought about 10 things ( they are wrapped and in his wardrobe) I’m not sure what he’s attempted to buy but I’m a bit worried as only told him one thing. We will see... it’s actually nice he’s soo organised, usually he leaves it till the last minute.

3luckystars · 07/11/2021 22:17

This thread is brilliant as I have to get a gift for my sister in law, she will be delighted!

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 22:23

@daisyjgrey

One year for my birthday I asked for an oven dish (Pro cook, cast iron thing) and DH told his colleague who was absolutely horrified that he'd bought me an oven dish and even more astounded that I hadn't banged him round the head with it!

I love it I use it at least one a week, it makes me happy.

If its been a big birthday year and you have been married 25 years then an eternity ring would be a lovely gift for a significant year. Most jewellers have good deals on them for Christmas, Goldsmiths always have a few half price at this time of year

FangsForTheMemory · 07/11/2021 22:29

EU membership

In the mean time, books, expensive shower soap and I will probably buy myself a food processor/mixer.

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 22:29

I was 55 so not a big birthday but he's 60. Should really have done the ring for our 25th anniversary but that's when I was unwell so didn't really want to do much. I think a ring is a possibility still but maybe save it for when one of us retires. We had hoped to do a big holiday this year as DS was 21 as well but covid put paid to that really. I don't want to go on an expensive holiday wearing masks etc.

NalPolishRemover · 08/11/2021 00:16

I'd go for the eternity ring in your shoes- what are you really waiting for?

I'm my own case I'd like a solid gold bangle.

Ashard20 · 08/11/2021 00:41

I really want the Home Alone Lego house!
But getting lots of other ideas from here.
What about a camera?
One year dh got me a Kitchen Aid kettle that heats water to a range of temperatures. It was actually very thoughtful as I frequently leave my tea and coffee for quite a while before drinking it as I don't like them too hot!
Oh - and another time, it was a mini filter coffee machine that runs on a car battery so you can have a freshly made espresso on the motorway - obviously you need a passenger to make it!

Inthetropics · 08/11/2021 02:51

OP, you sound like a person who enjoys useful gifts and maybe the odd luxury (but only a few items). I identifiy somewhat with that.

Some things I'd be very excited to get are:

  • A robotic duster so that i could come to a home with clean floors everyday (have 2 cats and a dog)
  • Good quality bar soap
  • Good quality chocolate
  • A pair of shoes identical to one i already have and love because mine are in very bad shape
  • A silver ring (i have one i wear everyday but would like another option)
  • A weekend trip to a nearby simple and lovely village that i adore
  • A painting for my reading corner (real art)
  • A few bakings gadgets that most people would never ever believe can count as presents
  • Books
  • An orchid in a very nice pot
TrevorFountain · 08/11/2021 02:59

A reversible dragonfly dressing gown but at £255 I've got no hope and Bob Hope, as they say.

My family have been unsure what to get eachother this year deciding money wouldn't be worth it because I wouldn't get around to spending it.
I created a list to help them have any ideas for me and make it easier
. Black Opium Perfume
.Adidas Ozweego's
.Vouchers for H&M , Next ect
.Makeup any to top me up
. Herbal essences argan oil repair shampoo and conditioner
.My disney ticket for my trip to Paris in march
.Money towards my driving test I am finally completing after years of waiting
.Any other random quirky experience voucher or ticket

yoshiblue · 08/11/2021 07:25

I would like the new kindle paperwhite as I have got into reading a lot.

FearlessSwiftie · 08/11/2021 09:05

Once JamieFrasers mentioned ABBA tickets I realised I would love to go there, too! I also would love getting a fancy Fitbit bracelet (something like in the pic, I really love chain bracelets) or a pair of new wireless headphones or a subscription to the gold edition of Smartshow 3d. I mean I can get all these on my own but it's nice to be treated to by someone else Grin.

FearlessSwiftie · 08/11/2021 09:08

Oops, the pic didn't upload.

What would you like for yourself this Christmas?
Susiearcher4 · 08/11/2021 21:41

Some tartan pjs , slippers, a new gravy jug🤣, a coin/ medallion style necklace. Candles. I've bought candles for my sisters from www.inbloomandco.com but am putting them on my wish list too now as they smell so fab . Don't you hate when you get someone else a great present that you want to keep yourself 🤣🤣🤣

I would really like a night out with hub as well. Just a nice meal somewhere without DD

Inextremis · 08/11/2021 22:27

I've asked for a candle making kit, not because I particularly want to start a hobby, but because I'm not prepared to pay the ridiculous prices of Jo Malone and similar - plus this way I get to add the scents I know I like rather than relying on someone else's nose :)
