Thanks @bizzey for the title, which tickled me! The day of the triffids? Nope, it’s the day of the cardboard boxes!

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

Loving this thread! Does anybody have a Lakeland discount or know of good discounts on an Ooni? Present for DH but more for myself as I will benefit too Grin

Mummyof2Terrors · 19/10/2021 15:31

Not a huge bargain but very cute. £5 from the Works. Saw advertised elsewhere but ordered mine earlier with some others bits I wanted for a craft hamper.

Guys, some advice please.

Duplo or Playmobil?

I have two DDs (turning 2 and 3 early next year) so I was planning on getting one or the other for them to play with and share. Different sets each for Christmas but then they can play with it all if you get me?

But I don’t know what to go for. Anyone have any pros or cons for each? Thanks 😊

LikeSilver · 19/10/2021 16:16

In my Pokemon shopping frenzy for my Pokemon-mad DS I have mistakenly ordered this pop-up book for a younger child (the description wasn’t clear and I think I thought it was some kind of puppet activity thing). Anyway, there seem to be some Pokemon fans on here, so as I cba returning it I thought I’d offer it up here - perhaps there’s a Pokemon fan who could gift it to their younger brother/sister/cousin? I don’t want anything for it. PM me if you’d like it and I’ll post.

@LikeSilver if you have no takers, I would love this for dd2 please. She loves a pop up book and pokemon 😍

@HoneyPea

Hi wondering if anyone can help, last year on the tread there were some solve the mystery style books with clues inside. I was planning on getting one for my mum but now I can't seem to find any similar books on Amazon. Does anyone know what they were called? There was a series of them!
Could it be the Charlie Wheeler ones here or labyrinth 29?
Ruralretreating · 19/10/2021 16:21

@PizzaCrust I’d probably go for Duplo for that age, as Playmobil has lots of small pieces, unless you opt for Playmobil 1.2.3. The 1.2.3 sets are lovely but I found once children move on to actual Playmobil at around age 4, I’ve found the 1.2.3 doesn’t get played with as much. DS1(9) still happily plays with Duplo with his little siblings though.

sorryiasked · 19/10/2021 16:21

@pizzacrust at that age I'd go playmobil 123. "Proper" playmobil is better for slightly older ones. And I don't like duplo, would rather wait and get them lego in a year or two.

@PizzaCrust personally we preferred duplo. And no chance of losing tiny pieces. Also I work in a preschool, the 2 and 3 year olds spend ages with duplo but arent really engaged by the playmobil. Its not such bright colours and its more fiddly for them to use.
BuzzLite · 19/10/2021 16:35

They have to have duplo, then when older Lego.
They also have to have some kind of imaginative world toys, so it would be playmobil 123 at this age or something like happyland. I would go for the playmobil 123 as you can get so much variety from zoo/farm animals, railways to people, cars etc.
Both are chunky plastic toys that are very good quality, meaning you can buy it second hand and stuck it through the dishwasher. My advice would be to take a look on Facebook market place and see if anyone is selling a bundle of either.

Billyandemily · 19/10/2021 16:36

Hi would love a boden code if anyone has one as has 3 girls to buy party/Christmas dresses for. Have just been to primark in meadowhall and they have started to put a few Christmas decorations out. Had a look for the fake oodies but they only had Minecraft in. Lots of lovely baby Christmas clothes though.x

2319inprogress · 19/10/2021 16:51

Duplo gets the vote here PizzaCrust it is so satisfying for them to be able to build fairly robust structures quickly & it goes on with them. We still get the huge box out every so often on a wet day for my Lego obsessed teens-primary kids Grin
It also fits together with Lego so can be fun to use bases etc once they get old enough for Lego.

buckeejit · 19/10/2021 16:58

@PizzaCrust definitely playmobil 123 - I'm a childminder & the 123 are less fiddly & used by all incl my dd who is 8!

clpsmum · 19/10/2021 17:02

BellsaRinging · 19/10/2021 17:03
