Standing in for @Reastie as thread 10 was filling up quickly...

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

Some top tips from thelegohooverer:

My tips are:
check out companies on trustpilot before ordering
be wary of companies that only have email/contact firms for customer services and no phone numbers or addresses (unless of course you enjoy meaningless replies from bots)
keep a list of what you’ve ordered so you can follow up if something doesn’t arrive. Sometimes it’s a numbers game where they’re betting on people not following up on missing orders.
check where things are shipped from, particularly if you need them quickly. I’ve got caught out waiting for the slow boat from China when I thought I was ordering locally.
I’ve started using Revolut to avoid putting in my main bank details (and it helps me budget)

Aliexpress have lots of stuff very cheap, order early as it’s all delivered from Chinahere. Be aware some items are a bit knock off in quality and safety, check reviews and be aware. Clothes can come up v small and take the photos with a pinch of salt as a guide for what you will receive.

Well dh has just returned from shopping with some gorgeous festive mugs & bowls from B&M they are brilliant for the price £2.50 each. Bowls will be great for sweets/nuts/snacks. Good job I love them because he forgot to get milk!

Minionbums · 11/10/2021 19:31

@IggyAce I’d rather beautiful Christmas bowls than milk to be honest Grin

TheGriffle · 11/10/2021 19:45

@hoolahoola22 I haven’t used them before so can’t vouch but they have 4.7/5 on trust pilot reviews if that helps? And scam advisor says not a scam.

sorryiasked · 11/10/2021 19:47

@mummyof2boys30 I've just been back through my emails and there was still availability on all days at the beginning of April (although not necessarily hospitality packages)

Tina221 · 11/10/2021 19:53

Hi @Justhereforthechristmasthreads I only been asked for my order number, surname and mobile no. when collecting from Boots 🎄

Ruralretreating · 11/10/2021 20:01

You might get some Octonauts toys if you buy the Octonauts magazine they often have little ones in the front

user1466167893 · 11/10/2021 20:06

That moment when you go to buy some saved items in your GAP basket to discover everything is now double the price from yesterday even though it claims it's now 70% off. That'll teach me for dithering.

@bizzey

Don't think it has been mentioned on this thread yet ...and if so I apologize for missing it ( too busy ordering other things !) But DS( Sen,asd,add ) has been asking for a weighted blanket .

There are loads !
What should I be looking for in a good one .
I have seen the brand Kudd.le and seen some good bargains (if £50 is a bargain !)

Online Home Shop do weighted blankets in various weights and sizes.

I bought one for (young adult) DD and she loves it.

Thisisbatshit · 11/10/2021 20:12

This toy story alien impossible 1000 pice puzzle is £4.50 at amazon or £3.50 at argos.

I think the key thing with buying a weighted blanket is to make sure you get the right weight for your son's body weight. I think you're supposed to go for around 10% of the person's body weight.

Also, I seem to remember that glass balls seemed to be the 'good' ones to go for.

My son is very slight and I think I ended buying one that was slightly heavier than was ideal for him. When I tested it out by sleeping under it myself, I thought it was too heavy for me (made my legs feel weird). So I haven't let him sleep under it, he just sits with it around him when he's emotional.

If you can, it might be worth borrowing one of the right weight to see if it works for your son? Or you can buy them second-hand to bring the cost down to try out the weight...

Unihorn · 11/10/2021 20:21

BargainMax used to have Octonauts toys last year, didn't realise they'd stopped doing them on there but they no longer seem to be available.

magsdirect.co.uk/?s=Octonauts&post_type=product they do back issues of the magazine here though, and we got some little bits from PoundToy/Toys for a Pound last year.

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:21

I have taken the plunge and ordered from. 247 ...
If I get ripped off and am homeless in a few months ..think of me 😂

woodwaj · 11/10/2021 20:21

@bizzey I have a weighted blanket for my asd son. I dithered for ages but be uses it on top of his duvet every night. You arent supposed to go over 10% of your child's weight. We went with the spiderman one from John Lewis but it's not exclusive to them

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:23

Some really cute different sweets of the DC's stockings .
I was looking at older people , but lots their for little ones.

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:24

Ahhh... THERE. ...( My biggest bug thing )

Silversilverstreet · 11/10/2021 20:25

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads, I have used Boots Click and Collect several times and they have always asked for ID.

I’ve shown them photo ID because that’s what I had ready, but I imagine showing them the confirmation email on your phone might be enough?

Oliveandsage · 11/10/2021 20:35

@bizzey we have a frozen weighted blanket from John Lewis, the 3kg one for our daughter. The quality’s really good and she loves it

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:38

Thanks for the weighted blanket help.
@woodwaj
@Athlebad
@WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks
That has really helped me .
The weight was a concern ..he is very slight ,so now I know I need to go in the 4.8kg bracket .

Would you recommend washable cover ? As oppose to washing the whole thing(which is never going to happen in a month of Sundays 😂)

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:39

Sorry @Oliveandsage thank you as well ..think we were typing at same time .

mogtheexcellent · 11/10/2021 20:39

I think loads of us have the spode christmas tree crockery after the 12 piece set for £45 bargain from a few years ago, tis truly beautiful in real life Grin

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:41

@Oliveandsage. I presume you mean the film Frozen....and that the blanket is not frozen ?!!

Silversilverstreet · 11/10/2021 20:41

@IggyAce, thank you for mentioning the 50% off sale at Mountain Warehouse. I had been looking for a “cloud” or “ghost” reflective woman’s jacket in size 24 for some time, so it was great to see one at half price. Good reviews, too.

They also have men’s reflective jackets for £29.99. A friend had just bought one for herself from Primark for that price and I was wondering whether to get one, too, but I hope the woman’s one will be a better fit for me.

I also bought a couple of the seamless vest tops for £2.99 each, reduced from from £25.99. They have an inner support bra, so I hope they will be comfortable to wear around the house without a bra, or to sleep in.

There are lots of good reductions in adults and children’s things on the Mountain Warehouse website, but the offer ends at midnight.

bizzey · 11/10/2021 20:42

(Need to check out space in freezer)

tabbycat985 · 11/10/2021 20:43

I'm so behind this year, we're zooming through threads!
DH has just announced he'd quite like a Soda StreamHmm Could anyone tell me anything about them, are they worth it? Is there a certain model to go for?

Reminder that on the Free Prints Photo Books app, you get one free book a month. They make lovely gifts so if you need a couple before Christmas, now is the time to start ordering!
