Welcome to the 2021 Poncetastic thread. With a nod to Fellatio (wherever she is), at the stroke of midnight, let the poncing commence.

OK, first of all, I know it's still September by we need to start this thread now because as you all know, having a truly Poncetastic Christmas involves precision planning, strategy, bravery, heroics, and frequently martyrdom.

So, if you, like me, actually want to make the next twelve weeks of your life a misery by hand-crafting your cards, finding a huge bucket for Nigella's turkey in brine, pickling pears, shrivelling oranges in a low oven for those rustic au naturel decorations, dragging half a holly bush back from the woods, and just generally being a smug annoying jobs worth ponce, join me on this thread.

Feel free to post photos of previous tree-trimming, cake icing or table centrepiece triumphs, discuss this year's bauble colour themes, debate the merits of Delia versus Gordon, road-test a selection of canapés and cocktails, (all in the line of duty) and link to lovely inspirational photos/craft ideas for a truly Poncetastic Christmas.

Warning: If your idea of a good Christmas involves Pizza, ITV, gravy granules or anything with 'Aunt Bessie’s' on the packet, this is not the thread for you".

Hi everyone, I have really enjoyed catching up on the thread and seeing all the lovely things being made.
My contribution to Christmas poncing preparations has been the birth of our lovely daughter on Monday - she’s been spared a December birthday and hopefully I will be mobile enough after CS to put some decorations up in a couple of weeks and well on the mend by Christmas. Not sure if this counts as getting organised early for the purposes of this thread

Have lost my poncing mojo completely when it comes to crafts. Might do my paper stars today to get back into the swing of things.

Today I have made Jamie Oliver’s “Get ahead gravy” without the star anise. It tastes so good I could eat a big bowl of it and even my post Covid nose can smell it.

In other news….
I had a Neom Pod box from a few years ago so I have covered it with lovely Christmas paper and used it like a drawer and have put my friend’s present in it ready to post it to her. I wonder if she will recognise the ponced up box ?

Some lovely poncing there @SevenSwansASwimming, love the crochet tree especially.

And not poncing as such but I sorted out my Christmas brooch. The two badges are from the 80s and were my children’s.

Oh how lovely @SevenSwansASwimming I really love the contrast between tasteful white paper and wool decorations and a tree with tinsel in ALL THE COLOURS (my tree is also like this - just got to work on the tasteful bit!)

I love your decorations ! I wish I was so clever , but sadly I’m not . My poncing talents lay mainly in cookery. I now have three whole days off which I haven’t had in one go since July , so I’m thinking this might be the baking weekend . The fruit has been soaking for two weeks , I’ve got a whole wodge of Nigel , Jamie and Nigella Christmas programmes on the kitchen sky box , and DH has just found a forgotten load of fairy lights to adorn the dresser with . Time to find my inner waftiness .

Everything has been so busy for the last few weeks I've barely had a minute. So glad that I managed to get some poncing prep done earlier. Looking forward to sitting down with tea, a mince pie and catching up on the thread 🎄

I've finished and assembled my second house, and made a card though! The card needs something but I'm not sure what 🤔

I also bought cranberries to make cranberry sauce, from the market, earlier...dd1 is currently stood eating them 🙄

Does anyone have a recipe for cranberry sauce they'd recommend? I've never made it before but do fancy having a go (when I rescue the berries from dd1 🤣)

It's fabulous as it is, but if you want to add more, would some il er glittery snowflakes on the brown border work? My approach is normally the more glittery the better at Christmas!

@123ZYX google iris folding. I'd try to explain but suspect I'd just confuse you! Glitter's good - I have some lurking that I could try (or maybe glitter glue dots?). If it doesn't look right, I have plenty more paper and cards.

@VivaJen thank you, I've just been looking at that one with the cranberry thief . We might give that a go. Do you use jars for storage? I'm debating rescuing and washing a couple from my recycling...🤔

I have done my narcissi this week - here is one of them. They had sprouted quite a bit in the shed but will see how it goes.

Thanks for everyone's help on the flower front - I've been diligently reading the advice.
