@Yumyumbaronie - I would second comedy tickets - Katherine Ryan is touring in Dec for example - have a look at your nearest theatres to see what's on when he's back (might have to be a pre Christmas present though)

Or!

See what is showing where he lives? Or gift voucher for something near to him? Meal out?

Chocolateteabag · 16/09/2021 21:57

Lights4Fun have 20% off til Sunday

Enter code 100DAYS20 at checkout

Their Tru glow battery candles are brilliant

PeachTea1 · 16/09/2021 21:57

Just picked up a drinks dispenser with tap and 4 cups for £1.20 in Tesco - they had rainbow and flamingo designs. Great for parties

WisestIsShe · 16/09/2021 22:09

@Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo such terrible service. My order was confirmed but now the payment is no longer pending. I checked on the fossil website and it says, preparing, or some such. From your experience i imagine I'm not getting mine.

SpecialK24 · 16/09/2021 22:14

@ TwinsandTrifle thank you for the photo, they are gorgeous!! They didn’t have our initials so I got the Santa and penguin one for the children and a matching one for our 🐶 xx

Clucket87 · 16/09/2021 22:32

Vtech baby walker is down to £23.97 on the George website at the moment. Cheapest I've been able to find it.

Mamtoothree · 16/09/2021 22:33

Has anyone ever ordered from The Crafty Giraffe before? They have BOGOF on Christmas tree decorations and lots can be personalised. Just wondering if they're any good/nice before I order as never heard of them before today.

GhostOfChristmasPudding · 16/09/2021 23:38

Don't know if this will help anyone, but I just popped into my local Lidl and they had a few of their large wooden toys (dollhouse, kitchen, market stall) reduced by quite a bit on their middle aisles. I got the kitchen for £40 instead of it's usual £50.

I don't know if it's all Lidl stores or not, but it's worth maybe having a look if you're waiting for their wooden toy sale next month and getting a bit of a discount!

Those wondering about advent calanders- we have loads of things we only get out at Christmas- a HUGE stack of books, Dvds, Lanka kade figures, playmobil, felt Christmas tree etc.

Last year (which I knew was going to be tough) I gathered a huge stack of old gift bags and filled one a day with things. I added something new for each day so this year so far I have hot chocolate stirrers, last year fancy marshmallows, biscuits, craft kits etc. The children loved it. In previous years I've just kept it all in a big box and thrown some things each day into a gift bag which was good too, but they were excited seeing it all piled in advance.

Spreads the excitement a little (a new story or book.a day rather than just dumping the whole pile at once) and costs very little as it is a collection we have added to over the years. Our eldest is 8.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 17/09/2021 02:44
@Carrie76 thanks for that about crayola - would it suit a 4 year old do you think?

I am not sure what advent calendar to get as dc likes to feel things by mouth Confused so there are loads I just can't get and had paw patrol last year which was ok.

Was thinking of just getting a chocolate one and getting an extra £20 present for the Christmas Eve box/ Christmas Day.
How about a book advent? I've seen Julia Donaldson, peppa pig, marvel and disney all mentioned? I think from amazon.

Or make your own? I've done this every year for dds, and buy a bargain bundle of their current interest toy on eBay/Facebook give it a wash and put one thing in each door. So maybe a set of cars, a piece of wooden track/trains, happyland figure, small figure of favourite character, small crafty activity (maybe print a load of free colouring sheets) then add age suitable stationary for each day.

Also I've seen fidget toy advent calendars on the works.

@schoolsweats

I love these threads so much, thank you to all who contribute!

I remember reading on an earlier thread that somebody recommended wrapping stocking fillers in candy striped sweet bags to make the wrapping easier. Do I remember that right and does it work well? If so I'm definitely going to do it!

schoolsweats

This tip worked brilliantly! It saved so much time and looked fab. Ebay and Amazon sell them quite cheaply and have different colour stripes if red and white aren't your thing

MerylSqueak · 17/09/2021 06:46

I've done the candy bag thing and it does work but they seemed to be much more expensive this year. Can anyone recommend some?

WhereTheresAHill · 17/09/2021 06:51

Not very festive but there is 10% off everything at B&Q this weekend for their loyalty club members

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/09/2021 06:53

@TheCrow rubbish. Shall not be getting them then

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/09/2021 06:58

@NigelSlatersXmasTaters

"Just rang our Home Bargains to check on the pumpkin jars again, the man said that they're only going to be stocked in the extra large stores and smaller stores won't be getting them at all ☹️ I asked him what our closest extra large store was and he said Washington (31 miles away!)"

He's talking rubbish. All of our stores have got them, even the small one (my work involves knowing what they've got in - awesome job I know Grin) and half the time they don't have a clue which barcodes will come and which won't!

I was gutted there but I will now keep Popping in
Newnormal99 · 17/09/2021 07:01

Anyone wanting oodies I got my dd a sienna one last year and it seemed good quality.

As she wears it so much I am upgrading her to a proper one this year.

I was wondering when we would spit the next thread title - was feeling a bit disappointed it hadn’t come up already!!! 😂😂

DanceAllDay · 17/09/2021 07:08

**spot!!

whoknows1230 · 17/09/2021 07:19

@InDreamland I second the recommendation for Crafty Giraffe. It’s been a couple of years since I ordered but couldn’t fault them at all.

Jfw82 · 17/09/2021 07:19

Can't remember who else was looking at the Asda wooden dolls house - is back in stock online! Grin

IggyAce · 17/09/2021 07:41

Buns are back down to £3.08.

YouveBeenLittUp · 17/09/2021 07:51

I've also ordered from Crafty Giraffe & was really happy with my order. Was a couple of years ago but couldn't fault them.

mumonthehill · 17/09/2021 07:51

Cannot add buns!!! Seriously….
