ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 16/09/2021 09:04

Thanks for all the suggestions for DS, I've added some bits to a wish list so the grandparents can chose but atleast I've done some damage limitation! I picked up the toy supermarket and the playhouse so absolutely no room for anything else here this winter 😂

Sallylovesdaisy · 16/09/2021 09:07

@Sallylovesdaisy

Just loving this thread! New to Mumsnet so this is a revelation for me. Superdrug are offering 10x points today only
So sorry, just noticed it's on certain hair products only, doh!
PinkDaydreams · 16/09/2021 09:09

@spudsuliked

Oops code would help! It's EXTRA15
Thanks for this! I hate ASOS for being sly putting their prices up when there's one of these offers on. Had my eye on a pair of trainers which always end up full price when there's an offer......not today though! Last pair, already reduced then a bit more off with that code so thank you Grin
Alwaysroomforcake · 16/09/2021 09:12

There's 25% off The Spicery advent calenders today :)

spudsuliked · 16/09/2021 09:15

@PinkDaydreams I know exactly what you mean! I tried every code on google yesterday to try and get a better price as there's always a code around but I think the sale plus code is actually a good price even with their up and down pricing! Glad it helped.

@DollyPartBaked

For 16 months I would go with duplo, if they already have duplo from older sibling it can be added for better builds and if not 16 months is a great age to start a collection. My 5 year old still loves it.

The usbourne sounds books are also lovely for that age, we had woodland sounds and nighttime sounds but they do many others. I've bought them a few times for similar aged children and they are always well received

sorryiasked · 16/09/2021 09:20

Not a bargain, sorry, more a public service announcement!

I often see people recommend drink as a gift for people you don't know very well and would ask people to reconsider this unless you know that they actually want alcohol.

There are also a lot of people making a concerted effort to cut down their drinking, or even stop, and the pressure of society to drink, particularly over the festive period, is high enough.

Also, thinking back to the newlyweds, our first married Christmas I opened 4 bottles of booze, having just got a positive pregnancy test, and had to spend the day pretending to drink as it was such early days!

I dont think this is really the thread for a public health announcement. We've already been splurging on gin, beer subscriptions, whisky, Hotel chocolat, sweets, bargain chocolates, cake mixes and Japanese snack boxes Grin I think a bottle of bubbly is a pretty standard token gift for newlyweds and if they don't want it at least a consumable is easily regifted and not likely to end up at the back of a cupboard or in landfill
Notlongnow1 · 16/09/2021 11:58

@Sisisimone apologies, if my post makes people uncomfortable I am happy to remove it. Is more the idea of buying alcohol for people we don't know that I find a tricky one. Perhaps I am alone in that and as I say, no offence intended by it.
