I bought the Velvetiser last year with the QVC discount @DamitJamit and it does make lovely hot chocolate, but I don't buy the Hotel Chocolat sachets - they're expensive anyway and I don't live near a store, £4.95 delivery is extortionate Shock

M&S did lovely hot chocolate flakes last year at bigger stores - this one - but again, I have to make a special trip to a large M&S as our local one is only small, so am not sure if they're in yet. Otherwise the Clipper powder from supermarkets works well and I've also had nice ones from Aldi and Lidl. I'm glad I didn't try the Pendragon ones now @buckeejit!

Turtle Doves have 3 for 2 on some cashmere neck loops, gloves etc here and there's a 10% off code as well if you sign up to their mailing list

I got the tins from home bargains - 99p - 4 types. lovely little stocking fillers or 1st December gifts.
They had fun crackers and a few decorations in my store and were only just putting out Halloween.

Lurleene · 14/09/2021 21:49

I'm so glad people are happy with their Drop Store deliveries. I also got mine today and am very pleased. Definitely a site to keep checking.

I popped to B&M this evening for the small stockings without much hope of finding them. I looked through the rails and the final 3 right at the back of the last peg were the 3 initials I was after Grin Just the right size for kitties!

TheBestWhootersInWhoville · 14/09/2021 22:04

@Puffinhead do you know how long the skinny dip code is good for? There’s some stuff I’m thinking of buying from them but I haven’t made my mind up for definite. I don’t want to miss out on 20% off though

Doghairismyglitter · 14/09/2021 22:05

Checking in!

Anybody that likes to get perfume for people for Xmas, Lloyds Pharmacy has Calvin Klein Beauty Eau de Parfum 100ml for £20 at the moment.
They also have a £5 off a £35 spend but it ends midnight tonight.

Puffinhead · 14/09/2021 22:15

@TheBestWhootersInWhoville, I’m sorry I don’t know. I always make a point of searching for discount codes whenever I shop online now and it just came up through that. I tried a few other codes first for 10%, then 15% before getting lucky with 20%. I recommend you try it!

Cherryrainbow · 14/09/2021 22:19

There's also some good BOGOF deals on the Skinnydip website with some sale items included. Unfortunately they don't seem to stack with the 20% off though

itsonlysubterfuge · 14/09/2021 22:27

@OneMorePieceofCheese

50% off this puppet making kit.
My daughter and I watched a YouTube video review of this and it wasnt very good. The puppets all ended up having under bites because they are sewn even. You can search Nerdecrafter on YouTube if you want to see it for yourself.
5Minions2CallMyOwn · 14/09/2021 22:54

Does anyone know if Smyths will be having a sale or any code any time soon pls?

Cherryrainbow · 14/09/2021 23:34

I've seen rumours they're doing their £10 off every £50 at the end of September but they didn't do anything last year x

alphabetspagetti · 14/09/2021 23:42

We got MIL the Velvetiser last year and I got the Aldi dupe. MIL uses HC powder whilst I use M&S. I have to say that there is a noticeable difference in the texture and I thought MIL's was smoother & creamier. I think it might also be a bit bigger so you get a bit more drink. The Aldi one is always a bit less than I'd like - but having two back to back is too much.
I'm happy with the Aldi dupe and, given I only have hot choc for about two months of the year, getting the Velvetiser still seems a bit excessive. Mind you, if MIL pops her clogs, I'll be straight over to get my hands on it before BIL gets there!

2020isoverthankgoodness · 15/09/2021 00:47

@NoWordForFluffy, I hope I’ve not raised your hopes too high over the M&S cheese. I saw grated mature cheddar at £3 for 500g (it says in the packet that you can freeze it, but it has to be used quickly once thawed) with organic mild cheddar and bags of mini Babybel lights also at half price. There was also something that was described as the middles of Camembert (?) That was all, but it was 6:30pm, so I expect the best bargains had gone.

Several years ago an assistant said that the managers are told about the about-to-be-discontinued lines on Monday afternoon/evening, so the best time to look for those bargains is then or on Tuesday morning. I check the red shelf labels.

2020isoverthankgoodness · 15/09/2021 01:13

My mistake. I’ve looked at my receipt and the M&S grated mature cheddar was £1.70 for 500g.

Arthien · 15/09/2021 03:06

Went to our local M&S food in the hope of finding tea and shortbread tins, but no joy just rows of empty shelves - not sure if that means they'd been raided or if they'd not had a delivery lately. Spotted the hot chocolate flakes @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl mentioned though, coincidentally. I have major baby brain these days but I think a pack was about £4. I personally swear by Whittards luxury hot chocolate powder, and it's even creamier now I've got the shaker too. I tried the Hotel Chocolat one using my normal microwave method and even on the hob and couldn't get it to melt properly, it just went gritty. Maybe that one needs a Velvetiser to melt properly?

BestofLuck · 15/09/2021 05:51

@MahMahMahMahCorona sounds like a good plan! Think there are 4 flavours.

MerylSqueak · 15/09/2021 06:48

A bit niche, but for anyone with teen daughter's, Modibodi have their teen period swimsuits half price at the moment. I bought one after seeing lots of posters on another thread saying how good they are. Down to £27.75 . There's free delivery.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/09/2021 07:56

Ah, not exciting cheese then, @2020isoverthankgoodness! 🧀🧀🧀

I'll stay at home for now impatiently awaiting the Booths' Christmas book and its cheese porn!

Jumpingintosummer · 15/09/2021 08:35

@Reastie

Thank you so much for thread. Must do better.
You have been doing a fabulous job for a long time…. I will pretend not to know how long I have been on these threads as that really shows my age! Here’s to many more with @Reastie at the helm! Xmas SmileWine

Catching up after a few days away. Popped into Asda for milk on the way home last night and left with a £35 barbie ambulance. Not sure if it’s been posted but lowest I have seen (Aldi had it at £40/smyths £45).

MahMahMahMahCorona · 15/09/2021 08:47

@Jumpingintosummer have visions of you leaving in the Barbie Ambulance... made me giggle. Thank you!

BestofLuck · 15/09/2021 09:00

Picked up this Mandalorian Lego set for DS at Asda for £12. Think it may be only in store as can’t find online. Best price I’ve seen even Amazon where it’s just under £18.

Reastie · 15/09/2021 09:35

Thank you @Jumpingintosummer . I’m now home edding dd alongside setting up my own business and having a slightly crazed toddler. Life can be a bit hectic at the minute 😁
