Couldn't find the Colin hot choc stirrers in my local M&S - they had plenty of the biscuit tins and gin though. Did see a Colin advent calendar as well!

If anyone sees any good deals on duplo could you please let me know? DC love duplo so more for their collection would be great!

Lovemusic33 · 15/09/2021 10:22

I need to go to M&S, I’m stuck in isolating so I hope I don’t miss out, dd wants the advent calendar and I want the Percy pig tin.

Yesterday I managed to sort out my wardrobe ready to store Christmas presents 🤣l

Sisisimone · 15/09/2021 10:28

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight

Yes thanks to who found drop store, got 5 bottles of gin (one for me of course) and whiskey tasting set all with speedy delivery and looks fantastic.
I love the Drop Store. For anyone who likes Liverpool Gin they sell it for around £18 and it's £40-50 everywhere else (it's delicious).

I managed to get one of my H&B boxes delivered but have just received notification that the other has been cancelled Sad.

ASOS have lots of reductions across site today including their own Beauty Box reduced to £16 which has really good reviews. The flat pack make up and toiletry bags that were being discussed on a previous thread are also reduced.

Jammydodged · 15/09/2021 10:32

I bought the Aldi velvetiser copy last year and ended up sending it back. It was horrendous to clean and the chocolate got burnt to the bottom. From reading reviews on Aldi afterwards lots of reviews said the same thing. I bought the velvetiser when someone posted the £35 off discount a few weeks ago and it’s amazing. So easy to clean and the hot chocolate is lovely, we’ve used several brands of hot chocolate and all have been fine inside.

MyPatronusIsAPenguin · 15/09/2021 10:36

I am starting to get a complex now. Just went to Asda armed with a zapper. Balance bike showing as £20. Still a good deal so I'll get one. Nope 5 pink and no blue Hmm

Twilightstarbright · 15/09/2021 10:40

@BaaBaaEmily my local ASDA had some deals on duplo.

BaaBaaEmily · 15/09/2021 10:42

Oh brilliant thank you @Twilightstarbright I'll ask DH to pop in on his way home!

MyPatronusIsAPenguin · 15/09/2021 10:43

Oh I did manage to get some of the £7.50 chocolates from M&S for MIL birthday at the end of the month though. The ones local to me had end of September BB date

Thisisbatshit · 15/09/2021 10:56

The poster above looking for Colin hot chocolate stirrers- a PP said they were on an display you pull things off mid row. I was pleased they had told me because they were not next to all the Colin Christmas stuff and they are green- not the red Christmas branding. So they maybe sell them year around.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/09/2021 10:59

Our HB has had a Christmas delivery and now has all tins! DH has therefore got us Nutcrackers and trains!

20% off spends over £30 at Sainsburys TU clothing with code TU20.
Be quick - ends midnight. How did I miss that?

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 15/09/2021 11:04

I'm not sure on how small they go but you can buy 10 organic cotton mens white tshirts for £22.50 plus p&p - currently marked down to £25 and you get an extra 10% off with the code BURTONTOPS.

I was wondering if they'd be good to go with tie dye kits for teens if the XS is small enough?

10 white tshirts

DamitJamit · 15/09/2021 11:09

Thanks everyone I'm either voing to get the velvetiser or a electric milk frother but in the style of this thread I'm going to hold out for a better bargain. I saw the velvetiser when it was £65 and I thought what a waste of money but I'm now kicking myself because I have changed my mind and want one! Theres some good bargains on this thread but its also convinced me I need several things (for myself) that I hadnt originally planned to buy 😅😅

sittingonacornflake · 15/09/2021 11:17

Thanks for everyone who posted the Lego deals.

I've managed to get the £25 bargain box from Asda and the ice cream truck for £8 from Amazon and the fire engine set also from Amazon for £10.

We are new to Lego, can anyone recommend anything else that would be good for a new collection? DS will be almost 4 at Christmas. I think I need the base boards but is there anything else I might have missed that would be good? Also any tips for getting someone started would be great. I've never really played Lego. Should I practice building them first so I can help on Christmas Day without having to study the instructions too much? I m conscious I don't want it to be boring!

Thanks also for the marks and Spencer's recommendations. Exeter marks and Spencer's yesterday had been rather ransacked by the looks of it but managed to get 2 light up tins (incl. the last tea one in the shop!) and of course a Colin stirrer Grin

PinkDaydreams · 15/09/2021 11:47

Beauty box has arrived! I personally don't think it's worth the £60 they've quoted but it's a nice Christmas gift.

sittingonacornflake · 15/09/2021 11:47

Back again Grin Im also desperate for a cinnamon buns box so if anyone spots it go down in price again on Amazon pleeeeease let me know! It was down to £3.08 again today but it failed to add to my basket and now the price is back up Sad

StopGoQuitStart · 15/09/2021 11:49

Lego is so much fun @sittingonacornflake. At your DC age they might prefer just doing their own thing with the asda classic box. For the ice cream truck they’d likely need help but I’d just do a little bit at a time with them. My DC loved loved loved following the instructions and doing that at that age. My second prefers to just get the thing build and then okay with it. So depends what type of child you have. I would look at Lego City for first sets (depends what your child likes there are fire, police, cars, dugegrs, etc). Jell eye on Amazon for reductions as can pick Lego city up on good offers. If you think they’ll like following the instructions aim for the 4+ sets which will be easier for them at first but none will be too complicated with your help.

Base boards can be hand especially for building a house etc with the classic bricks. The Lego branded boards sometimes go
On offer (I got one for £5 in the summer) but for cheaper boards ive found the ones in b&m and home bargains to be really good. Slightly thicker plastic so sturdier but still good fit for the Lego. They do a variety of size pack for £7 I think. (Wouldn’t recommend their own bricks though I always stick with proper Lego).

Have fun and be prepared for your house to be taken over by Lego in the next few years if your DC takes to it as much as mine did. Collections soon add up!

StopGoQuitStart · 15/09/2021 11:50

Oh sorry that’s so long plus excuse all my typos Blush I so wish there was an edit button

PinkDaydreams · 15/09/2021 11:51

@sittingonacornflake I posted yesterday about Lego base boards, Asda had some reduced down to 87p each, they weren't Lego brand but they still get good reviews when googled. I posted a pic on here yesterday of you scroll through and have a nosey.
Also b&m also have a set of base plates for around £8-10, I think it's four or five of differing sizes in the pack.

PinkDaydreams · 15/09/2021 11:52

@StopGoQuitStart sorry cross post with you regarding the base plates in b&m Grin

Rockhopper81 · 15/09/2021 11:53

@sittingonacornflake

You should be fine with the Lego you've got, even as a Lego novice, so no need to practise first.

The instructions are completely pictorial (apart from the occasional number if you need more than 1 of a brick), each page has a step of the construction to build - a box at the top shows which bricks you need for that step, so you can sort them out before you add them - then the picture shows where those bricks go.

Each step of construction generally uses 3-6 bricks. Occasionally it may have a picture to construct those bricks before adding it to the model - all very clear and straightforward.

Your almost 4 year old will need help, but my nephews at that age were finding bricks and doing parts of it alone, it's making sure the model is kept in the same direction of the picture and that the bricks are added the correct way that's really tricky at that age. They pick it up fast though generally.

Yes, I'm a massive Lego geek (in case it wasn't obvious)! Grin

There's 25% cashback with Quidco at the Perfume Shop today and I got a further 20% off for signing up as a member. They already have a sale on so got quite a few bargains. Free delivery on all orders today as well.

This is us. Drowning it in! Especially for DS.

@sittingonacornflake the only thing you need to go with the Lego is slippers with a sturdy sole so you don't teach the kids new words every time you stand on a bit Grin
