Most certainly not.

As I stated these are age appropriate idea, not everything will be purchased, and IF we do get either of those things they will be second hand, older generation refurbished models.

Where possible and financially prudent we’ll always go with secondhand rather than new.

The above tech-type things are all refurbs with a 1 year guarantee.

Where do you purchase these refurbs OP ? My 11 yer old after an Apple Watch this year

ooo please can you share where you can get refurbs to look as new?

After some looking around we’ve (reluctantly) opted for Amazon (if we do get one), we felt their guarantee of the quality of refurb and that the item would look “brand new in packaging” is what swayed us. I’d definitely say to have a look around though.

They call it “renewed” products.

I bought my child an iPad for her 6th birthday and I quite frankly don't understand what you're problem is? If OP wants to gift her child(ren) an iPad or a solid gold toilet it really doesn't matter, doesn't necessarily mean she's bragging.

I've bought almost all my tech refurbed - it still has the guarantee and always looks brand new. I get either from Amazon or directly from Apple that way. It really works!

I agree with @Ylvamoon and am really trying to avoid plastic tat this year. I've got the following planned/half bought for stockings (NB for more than 1 child if this seems a lot!):

@Aroundtheworldin80moves definitely a good idea to invest in tech for secondary my middle dc has just started and I’m surprised the amount of homework is given out and done online.

Middle is also a giraffe lover

Another recommendation is this.

We bought it during lockdown and have had literally hours of fun creating the games then playing.

Great from, id say, around 3 years up to adults as the games get progressively more complex as you work through the book. You get 3 board types per game if you have multiple children who want to design their own.

What is a squishmallow set? It sounds like I need one.

@ShoppingBasket it’s from the squishville product line. They have little squishmallow minis in sets of 4 or 6, you can then buy things like houses, bakery set ups etc to play with them in. They’re very cute.

Unspoken rule of the Christmas board has always been don't judge people on what they get their kids. You do what you do, they will do what they do.

Eldest dd wants a pair of doc martens here, middle a bike and youngest wants a digger 🤷‍♀️
