(Apologies if one already exists for 2021)

It can be very helpful to peruse others lists for tips and suggestions when we’re a bit stuck for ideas. Please feel free to add your lists here.

It’s helpful to include the age of the intended recipient.

Here are mine so far (not all bought, some are just ideas currently):

@FireworkParrot, do you recall what you bought your 2 year old DD last Christmas? I'll have an 8 month DS at Christmas and it's such an awkward age! Appreciate I don't need to get him lots as he'll be so young. So far I have:

Shape sorter
Hide and squeak eggs
Personalised backpack for when he starts nursery a few months later (idea)

ShoppingBasket · 02/09/2021 17:09

Ahhh OK thanks, I thought they were edible squishy marshmallows Grin

FireworkParrot · 02/09/2021 17:32

Don't know what that rogue "stocking" is doing in my last post....bloomin phone. I also forgot we got her some wooden letters to put her name on her bedroom door.

For a 2 year old I be carefully not to buy too much as they are easily overwhelmed. At 2 they be past shape sorted, perhaps get some 4 to 8 piece jigsaws, Happyland, cars, trucks, diggers, doctors set or similar make believe toys are all good.

BigGreen · 11/09/2021 20:39

Mommabear20 · 11/09/2021 20:43

Love this thread!

ActonBell · 11/09/2021 20:50

DS - age 4
Magnetic tiles
Play dough kit from nice Etsy maker with yellow door play dough rollers
Schleich dinosaurs (mostly secondhand)
Maybe some kind of play volcano to go with the dinosaurs - I don’t know
Books
Cuddly toy
Dressing up clothes
Maybe playmobil

Need some more ideas in case some of these don’t work out

Stocking:
Yoto player cards
Spinning top
Chocolate
That’s it so far!

New baby who all being well (high risk pregnancy, crossing everything) will be here safe and sound by Christmas:
Books
Cuddly toy
Play gym (gave away the one we had for DS)
Little stocking with teether, rattle, bath book

Clueless for DH. And he’s got a December birthday as well. Maybe a kitchen gadget, a novel, something to wear? Normally we do experience gifts but he hasn’t been able to use his one from 2019 yet because of Covid! Last Christmas was a blur because we lost baby no. 2 so I can’t even remember what I gave him.

Have started on other family members as well and have presents for my mum’s birthday in November sorted.

EcoCustard · 11/09/2021 21:38

Ideas so far-
Ds aged 6-
Bruder car/truck
Playmobil police set ( to go with his loved existing stuff)
Nerf gun/target
Rugby ball
Magic set

Dd aged 5-
Roller skates
Cry babies doll
Stationery
Polly Pocket
Horse riding lessons
Lego dots

Struggling for youngest dd as she rarely expresses a want for anything, has been asking for walkie talkies for a while and that is it.
Dd aged 4-
Walkie talkies
Lego dots set
Stationery

Ds aged 2.5-
Bruder car or truck ( always pinching big brothers)
Train bits to go with existing set
Usborne lift the flap book ( we have a lot and are very popular)

Stockings will have some bits the same and some bits to suit their likes-
Chocolate Santa
Colouring book
Pens/pencils/novelty rubber etc
Small vehicle or animal
Book for the two that can read
That’s it so far

DH is getting a new golf bag
Molton Brown
Maybe some slippers

Only just started putting down some ideas and trying to cut back as they have the big stuff and so far have expressed little interest in much. May opt for experiences or comic subscription when relatives ask.

spagbog5 · 12/09/2021 16:52

Only buying properly for dd16 as dh, dd24, dd22 and myself are going to do a secret Santa this year as none of us needs stuff so a healthy £100 budget should be good

But for dd 16

A upgraded iPhone
A bobo home balance board as she loves our lockdown gym in the garden and can use it out there.
Cactus care book
Chanel paperscape book
Miss Dior perfume

I will do stockings as usual for all our girls but only buying for dd16 is making things much easier this year especially thanks to the brilliant Christmas offers threads.

ChirpyChirp · 12/09/2021 21:14

@Filterphobia please could you post a link to the Pokemon Dobble? My DSs would LOVE this!

ChirpyChirp · 12/09/2021 21:18

DS 8

HP Lego/BrikHeadz
Action Reaction set
Minecraft controller for the Switch
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl game
Minecraft block light
Bird feeder for the garden
Throw Throw Burrito game

DS11

Pokemon controller for the Switch
Wireless ear buds
I have no idea what else...

Filterphobia · 12/09/2021 21:23

Pokemon Dobble @ChirpyChirp

It’s out of stock but you can add your email address for notifications when it’s back in stock Smile

ChirpyChirp · 12/09/2021 21:57

Amazing! Thanks so much!

StopThrowingCitrusFruitFFS · 12/09/2021 23:23

Ideas so far:

7yo DD

Blume doll (her current obsession - this may change by the time Christmas rolls around)!
Bath bombs
Rainbow Grey book
Kids' cookbook
Chocolate
Clothes
New PJs
Child friendly tablet? Can't decide about this.

(Almost) 4yo DS

Jigsaw puzzles
Bath bombs
Toy car
Chocolate
Cards for his little radio thing which plays stories and music - think it's called a yoto
Child friendly tablet? As above.

Shelbot · 13/09/2021 01:27

Awesome thread idea 😁

Ideas for 8yo DS, though won't get everything:

Main gifts from us -
Laser tag set
Pokemon elite trainer box
Big photo album with loads of photos of him and family/friends throughout his life (he's big on memories and loves hearing about what he was like as a baby!)

Big poppit
Reversible octopus
Body pillow (he loves anything snuggly!)
Harry Potter sorting hat
Harry Potter Hedwig soft toy
Harry Potter playing cards
Harry Potter top trumps
Let's Glow Studio
Wallet
Personalised Beano book
Christmas pig book
Label maker
Wall Thermometer
Diabolo set (circus type toy)
Spy Ninjas merch
Dream catcher
Astronaut food
I spy book
Plasma ball
Kids cologne
Measuring tape

One random thing I did give him was an AM/FM radio and he was fascinated with changing the dial to different frequencies for different radio stations and listening to the music.

DH is tricky and I like to get it just right, I usually have an 'a-ha' moment during the year. We are skint this year so mostly concentrating on making sure we get enough for DS. I might get DH a specific coffee he's been after from the states. Previous years the best gifts have been a lawnmower and an aeropress coffee thing, not too expensive and makes lovely coffee I'm told! Enough for one mug at a time, using ground coffee. Was £28.
