Here we go. Couldn't think of a witty thread title. Soz!

I can't sit in the back of the car. I get so 🤢.

We are actually going to Edinburgh in Oct. it's costing £208 for all 4 of us return. We have to fly though. That's the thing about living on an island with no train links.

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/09/2021 20:33

Neros you'll be grand once BoJo builds his bridge, then 😜

Back to school tomorrow for DS. He's been selected for the rugby team for Saturday's match too - all I need to do is persuade DH to take him and I'll have the house to myself on Saturday morning.

WreckTangled · 02/09/2021 20:55

My electricity company have sent me a letter to say I have to have a smart meter and it's a condition of my (standard) tarif Hmm I don't remember this being stipulated when I signed up. I'm not necessarily against them but what I am against is having to wait at home for half a day for someone to come and fit it. I hate having people in my house, it stresses me out and I don't want it.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2021 21:12

Yeah, some tariffs demand a smart meter. I can still refuse one on my new tariff, but I don't think I'll be able to avoid one for much longer.

Just say you won't be in every time they call to arrange. 🤷‍♀️

Let's hope the NI bridge is less wobbly than the Millennium bridge was. People got travel sick on that too, to remain with the puking theme!

The made me an appointment and I cancelled it online so now they've sent a letter. Not sure what their next move will be...

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2021 22:01

Sending the boys round!

113 it's dds first day of secondary! So scary. I'm excited for her. Today it's just the year 7's going in so she will be fine. Ds also goes back to school today but didn't sleep well as he was full of worry. Where does he go? Playground or classroom? Where will his seat be? Where will his bag go? Where do the lunchboxes go? Poor thing.

It's going to be 26° next week. Wtf? I'm ready for autumn now so the heat wave can go away.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 03/09/2021 07:08

Morning all.

Good luck to your DC Wreck.

DS returns on Monday and I am looking forward to having the time to get organised again.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2021 07:37

Hurrah for good weather next week. Hopefully it stretches to Glasgow for my gig!

Also, it may ripen my reluctant chillies! 🤣

Secondary school? Scary stuff!

Can't believe we're on thread 5 already. I've just started looking at booking a pantomime and a few Christmas events. Bring on all the joy and excitement

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/09/2021 08:06

Ahh first day school nerves Wreck
They did the same with ours in Yr7 just them in school for the first day to find their way round .

WreckTangled · 03/09/2021 08:08

She was only one on the bus! Poor thing. Her friends all get a bus from the village down the road where the school is.

I'm going to start a pre Christmas clear out today I think. We've got lots of crap in drawers that we just don't need.

CrazyBaubles · 03/09/2021 08:50

I'm sure both dc will be fine Wreck.

DH is spending this morning labelling parts of his class especially to help the children who worry like your DS so they know where things will go. He's also made name tags to put on their seats so they know where to go. I said I don't remember worrying about that stuff when I was at school but apparently a lot of the kids do so he does this every year for his new class (he also labels his own desk and wears a name tag that just says 'I'm the teacher' which apparently gets a few giggles 😂)

Who are you going to see Fluffy?

I bought DHs Christmas present yesterday - I found Elton John tickets for next June. It's apparently his last tour and although DH is more into rock, he's always wanted to see him so I'm pretty sure he's going to be happy Xmas Smile

NerosFiddle · 03/09/2021 09:15

Morning.

Ds started today too. He's in P1 now and I know I'm biased but he's so handsome in his uniform.

NerosFiddle · 03/09/2021 09:16

Crazy I saw Elton John a few years ago. He's excellent in concert.

WreckTangled · 03/09/2021 09:39

Thanks crazy dd already told him where everything goes and that there'll be post its with names on at each desk but he was still stressing. He will have a good day I'm sure.

I just saw Elton John is doing Hyde park next year as part of the tour.

peachgreen · 03/09/2021 10:50

Morning all. 15 days until Strictly! That's my cheery news for the morning.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2021 11:26

15? I thought the first show was 11 Sept?! Bugger!

I'm seeing Biffy Clyro, Crazy. 😁

OP posts:
peachgreen · 03/09/2021 11:59

First show is 18th September, first live show is the 25th!

CrazyBaubles · 03/09/2021 12:33

I hope your DS has a good day Neros

I'm looking forward to Elton, his songs are timeless.
So strange, I booked it then realised that the 2 weeks around that gig are busy next year - I have the rescheduled Mama Mia show that I bought for dm and MIL for Christmas 2019, Green Day, Elton John then DH has Foo Fighters tickets. Random that they're all so close together!

I like Biffy Clyro Fluffy but I always say the name wrong. It's the L, it feels like it's in the wrong place so the name doesn't flow for me Blush

peach I saw I'm going to watch Strictly every year and never do. Maybe this year....

I'm taking a quick work break and using it to hang washing out and clean the bathroom - oh the glamour 😂

pussycatlickinglollyices · 03/09/2021 12:49

Fluffy I knew you'd be seeing Cliffy Biro. 😂😂

flowerbus · 03/09/2021 13:21

I’ve got half way through present buying for DS1. I’m going to get DH to help me go through our decs and see what’s broken so I can buy some new stuff🎊. I want to bake a lot of stuff myself this year too am I too late to start Christmas pudding?

Christmas puddings are traditionally made on Stir-Up Sunday which is the Sunday before the first Sunday of Advent. This year that is 21st November so you have ages yet to make your pudding.

Christmas cakes are usually made a bit earlier (although there are recipes for cakes that can be made later). I'll be soaking my fruit soon and I leave it soaking for a couple of weeks. I'll make the cake at the end of the month and feed it with some brandy over the following months.

First day of school today. DS reluctantly agreed to let me take his photo this morning. It's chilly here today and I'm making a pork casserole with mashed potatoes for dinner.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2021 14:32

Look what just got recommended to me as I was checking my Sainsbury's order out! Xmas Grin And Brussels are back in...definitely autumn!
