Here we go. Couldn't think of a witty thread title. Soz!

We're set to have rain all day too, Wreck. It's not too bad at the moment, but isn't set to last. I do believe this is it now, autumn is here!

We struggle to get DD out of bed as she's reading! She's discovered David Walliams now, so reads his books where available. I've got her a few for Christmas, so I'm hoping she doesn't read those ones beforehand!

First day back at work who am I what do I do 😖😅

First priority is booking off all my AL until Christmas I have 33 days to use and 15 weeks till I go into my next leave year so I'm taking Fridays off to get part time hours on full pay, with a break for Christmas and a few days in October for spooky fun.

More experienced mothers, advice please: Do I take the week of half term which will be busier but with more events on or the week before half term so I can have a quieter fun week with DS?

We have all pretty much recovered from the horrific weekend, thank you for the sympathy although DS is is still really off his food, how long can a one year old live on banana and yogurt for? Asking for a friend 😖

WreckTangled · 14/09/2021 09:10

Ooo tricky one. I would take the week either side as you'll have years of needing to take half terms off.

Dds appointment has been cancelled which has messed up my day's plans and now I'm stressed.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2021 09:45

Hairspray, for as long as the stubborn little shits decide that's their diet for! He'll be fine, don't worry. He's getting a range of food groups / vitamins.

I would also go for non-school holiday times too, while you can!

FireflyGirl · 14/09/2021 09:57

Hairspray just keep offering other stuff first, then give him the banana and yoghurt for dessert when he refuses the rest.

A lot of the activities during the half term will be aimed at school aged children, so unless there's something you specifically want to do, I would also go outside of school holidays.

Some places may still be running Halloween themed things outside of half term, eg there's a place near us that does a spooky maze for the whole month.

TBH, at that age, all you need is somewhere with a pumpkin patch for cute photos! Grin

It's drizzly here, definitely autumnal.

After sitting in my raised bed since the end of June having a bachelor party (all male flowers!), my squash plants have just set fruit. I'm not holding my breath they're going to ripen before the frost hits them Hmm

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/09/2021 10:02

Another vote for non-school holiday times Hairspray. If you go away it's usually cheaper and activities and attractions are less busy. Although after your recent weekend away I suspect you never want to sleep away from home ever again.

Steady rain here today. Typically I need to drop some parcels off at the post office. The soup maker is getting its first outing of the autumn as I've got some leeks that need using up.

My chillis are ripening slooooooowly. Each plant has one or two that are turning red.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2021 10:23

Firefly, my squashes are doing the same. I'm resigned to no squashes this year.

And yep, my chillies are similar (though sounds like I have fewer red ones in total), Woolly.

Weirdly, we have sun. Unexpected. Xmas Confused

Grey, cloudy and cold here. No rain (yet) but I think it's coming.

Hairspray hope your first day back is going ok?

My headache yesterday morning turned into the beginnings of a migraine by the afternoon. Drugged myself up and think I avoided the worst of it but still has that awful floaty feeling and light sensitivity. Gave the night up as a bad job and went to bed at 8 🙄

No attempts at growing food here yet, but as DH squashed what was left of my wildflowers when he dismantled the old shed, I'm thinking of using that planter for some daffodils.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/09/2021 11:42

Woolly I bought a variety of chutneys with crackers for my dad from a local garden centre.

FireflyGirl · 14/09/2021 13:21

The heavens opened shortly after I posted, and it's been miserable since!

We had to go out in it, because I needed balloons and banners for DH. DD was fine under the rain cover, but I couldn't find my rain coat! Think it must be in DH's car, which is obviously at the garage for its MOT today Confused Not looking forward to the walk to pick it up in this weather, after already getting soggy!

MeredithMae · 14/09/2021 16:23

It's been a cold, sunny day here. My new Oodie arrived so I've been snuggling inside it! We have an old detached house, which is actually colder inside than outside Confused so when I really feel a chill I pop outside with the dogs for a few mins!

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2021 17:39

Ah. I promised we'd all go to the park after dinner if it was dry knowing the forecast was wet!. It's dry. We're all off to the park. Whoop! 🙄🙈🤣

That'll learn you, Fluffy.

Never trust the BBC... Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2021 18:33

This was Met Office. I've been betrayed, I tell you! 🤣

Ah bloody weather forecasts!

Work got the better of me and I logged back on at 8 while DH was marking downstairs. I almost never do that but things are mad at the mo.

I'm in bed now, cross stitching. I am 😡 that I was organised and bought my cross stitch cards early - have you seen Bothy Threads are bringing out some of their Wrendale designs as cards in October?
What are the chances they'll go on sale after Christmas and I can pick some up for next year?

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2021 22:11

I hadn't seen that, Crazy! I feel like I will need some of those! 🙈 Hopefully in the January sale. 😁

101

Morning!

It's very autumnal here, with a chill in the air. I can smell a log burner too, so somebody is cold! (We're nowhere near putting the heating on yet.)

DH ordered some really cute tree decorations yesterday, so I've definitely indoctrinated him into the early planning team! 🎄 🎅🏻

I don't really feel like I'm getting anywhere at work at the moment...it feels like it's been harder to recover from two days off than it was 6. Weird!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 15/09/2021 07:49

Cute decorations here.

Oh it's mild here. Was 16° when I went out at 5:45. Almost had to get my torch out to get to the car though....

NoWordForFluffy · 15/09/2021 08:25

It's apparently 12° here right now. It's nice and sunny though, so that's something!

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 15/09/2021 09:35

It's pouring down but it's 16 degrees here. Very clammy.

Dh is off tomorrow so we're going to go to the range while the dc are at school.

BiddyPop · 15/09/2021 10:06

Morning, very overcast here, but still dry (the radar shows rain sitting in the hills to the west, so I'm crossing my fingers it continues to sit there). Tomorrow's forecast is torrential rain though.

About to have a VC meeting about transferring to a new electronic filing system - because we all have nothing better to do at the moment....(almost no one wants this change - particularly right now as there is a lot going on, we are physically moving back to the office very soon but after a physical refurb so its chaos, and we have made deadlines to hit as well...). Then another VC on 1 of the projects, and another on a different project. And I need to try and catch someone else about 4 different things at some point today. (And put travel details in my diary as I have to go to Slovenia next week...). I just wish my hormones would calm down again and let me sleep through the night.

(I'm going to be bold during the filing VC, and have some XSt under the camera to work on as I have fallen well behind on my projects for this Christmas).

FireflyGirl · 15/09/2021 13:05

Are these the types of meetings that should be an email, Biddy?

Was very autumnal first thing, but the sun is out now and it looks lovely outside. I'm walking DD to sleep, then I have laundry to get on with and sorting DS's bottoms as he's had a growth spurt while the weather has been warm and his non-school bottoms are all half mast!

Luckily, I buy next size up when I see ones I like/on sale!

WreckTangled · 15/09/2021 15:38

My washing has been out all day and it's still not dry. I guess that's it for hanging it out as it's only going to get cooler, unless the wind picks up whilst it's still sunny Hmm

pussycatlickinglollyices · 15/09/2021 16:25

It's beautiful here. Really quite warm. Perfect weather. 😎
