Nigel Slater's The Christmas Chronicles

I bought this wonderful book for my daughter as part of her Christmas present last year. Then I treated myself to a copy in the spring!
It's a fantastic book, full of stories, photography, poetry and 100 recipes for the Christmas season. As a hardback book with gold foil detailing it would even look gorgeous laid out as part of your Christmas decorations.

Each chapter roughly follows the days leading up to Christmas, and we've decided to read and share our thoughts about each chapter in the run up to Christmas, starting from late November if I remember correctly.

I thought it would be a lovely thing to share with someone you love. Currently £18.29 on Amazon.

It's stormy here on the east coast which is getting me even more in the mood for CC!

• Letters from Father Christmas by JRR Tolkien which is absolutely beautiful - copies of the letters he made each year for his children including illustrations.

Oh and I keep back issues of Christmas magazines like sainsburys and good food, and always look out for subscription offers in the run up to Christmas so I can get a hard copy instead of using my free app through the library!

I've just unearthed my copy from renovation chaos, had a peek inside and buried my nose to savour that wonderful book smell! Hands up who else does that instinctively when they open a book lol?

The Introduction is quite long, so I think I'll start the Read Along Thread on Oct 1st. That will give a couple of weeks for anyone else to get a copy, and then the last two weeks we could read the Introduction at a leisurely pace as people join the thread at different times, so as few people as possible get left behind x

I will stick my nose in anything remotely resembling a book - I even love the smell of a catalogue - I think its because my mum always ordered her clothes from the Grattans (sp?) catalogue - the smell takes me right back to childhood!

Have read the introduction already!! Might hover a while within it - its a very nice place to be!

I'm setting my October 1st reminder and just bought some essential oils to set the autumn into winter tone.

Just managed to order myself a «very good» used one for 14.50€ delivered to France. A pretty good deal I think. So I should be joining the read along sometime after the 12th

(And I have Delia’s two books arriving soon, and hairy bikers. Already have Nigella which has, until now, been my Christmas bible. Oh and Mary on the kindle)

My copy of Christmas Chronicles has arrived and been popped into the Christmas cupboard for later. It was second hand and ‘tis a thing of joy!
