Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

I could have sworn I posted here this morning, strange.

We had 2 substantial snow showers yesterday - DH was walking the pier during the morning one, and DD and I were walking along the beach in the afternoon one. But it didn't stick either time.

Another busy day starting another busy week, definitely feels deeply ground-hoggy rather than Rudolphy these days. Desperately trying to find some joy for myself - might put on some good music later (after an afternoon of zoom calls....)

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 15:19

Biddy I think you're right - we've all descended into ground-hoggy days. It doesn't help when all (3) of my watches have packed in and need new batteries. I really do have to check the calendar more often (today's Saturday, or Wednesday, right?! Wink ) and write todays date on the list when I go shopping.
It snowed again v early, but was more like icing sugar - quite pretty really.

MarshmallowManiac · 25/01/2021 16:21

Must be the time for batteries to fail Stockings as battery died on my car last week. Sad

Sideorderofchips · 25/01/2021 16:29

Babychips spent a night in hospital and is home now. Not covid but another similar acting virus

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/01/2021 16:35

Oh chips how is he feeling? Are you ok? Have the hospital given you any medication or does he just have to ride it out?

MarshmallowManiac · 25/01/2021 16:36

Glad to hear baby chips is out of hospital Chips, and hope he is soon on the mend. Flowers

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:00

chips The poor wee thing Bear I hope he's feeling better.
Marshmallow my wall clock battery has given up the ghost too, it must be me!! Shock Car batteries are a pain and really expensive to replace. I remember swapping my dads car battery and it was only £30, I think you can add a 1 to the front of that these days.

MarshmallowManiac · 25/01/2021 17:19

Yes £140 Stockings I nearly died let alone the battery. Grin Grin

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:25

Marshmallow bargain! I dug out the receipt for ours a year ago, it was £150. And I took the mechanic some lunch!

NoWordForFluffy · 25/01/2021 17:35

I used to deliver car parts and give a wistful sigh about the price of parts back then! It's crazy now, if you can even do it yourself.

I can't remember how much our battery was last year. More than £30, that's for sure!

Good news about Baby Chips. I hope he recovers quickly.

Biddy, definitely Groundhog Day. It's very dull and predictable.

MarshmallowManiac · 25/01/2021 18:57

Oh well I don't feel quite so bad now Stockings Grin

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 19:08

When we had the Astra (Thunderbird 2) I was at the local garage every couple of weeks. I eventually turned up with either cakes or hot pies and a knackered car Grin

Morning!

It sounds wet outside. I've not looked yet though! DH just has (as I was typing), and declared it 'very wet out there'! Ah well, the one gorgeous day yesterday was nice.

I have nothing else to say as nothing is happening. Thrilling. 🙄

CrazyBaubles · 26/01/2021 09:31

Morning.
We still have snow on the ground here but most of it has been trodden down into ice now. Dog walk yesterday was a bit dicey!

Not quite Groundhog Day here (yet) but it's getting there. We're basically working all day, taking deliveries of house stuff we've ordered then unpacking / putting up new curtains / lights etc in the evenings, then I'm clearing up while DH does more work.

I woke up today with an awful headache and all bunged up which isn't helping.

Chips I hope your ds starts to feeL better soon.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 26/01/2021 09:36
Grin We're due some sleet at 10, DH said he might go for a walk. The cats have gone for a nap - beginning to think they might have the right idea.😹
MarshmallowManiac · 26/01/2021 12:24

Afternoon all. Looks darkish outside and feels like it could rain soon. Being doing some courses for work and marking the work on Seesaw so feel quite productive today as got up earlier and started sooner.

Stockings we were like that with our Volvo, almost knew the mechanics by name. Grin

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 26/01/2021 16:16

Marshmallow We're on first name terms. Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 26/01/2021 16:18

Absolutely pouring down here. I ventured into the office this afternoon as the roads are clearer. I did have a slightly scary walk up the snowy pavements but that should be gone by the time I go home.

Holothane · 26/01/2021 16:38

At least it’s not quite dark at five now, next month will be better I can start saving for other things besides the flooring which will be lovely but dh has no patience and wanted it done as soon as so ounceb0th our pups are 9n it can be fitted, after that things are done my way.

MarshmallowManiac · 26/01/2021 16:59

Haha Stockings oh no. Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 26/01/2021 17:18

We've had biblical rain this afternoon. It's meant to be dry tomorrow though, so we'll hopefully get more washing dried. Two loads dried outside yesterday as it was dry and breezy.

My stye is going now. Why can confirm the horror of it! 🙈😂 I think it'll take another week or so to be fully gone, however. It's now the size of a continent, rather than a planet!

Holothane · 26/01/2021 17:39

Meant to say pips.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 26/01/2021 17:39

I can confirm that Fluffy's stye looked like an extra face growing out of her eye. Extremely impressive if you like that sort of thing.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/01/2021 20:34

Thanks, Why! 🙄😂

CrazyBaubles · 26/01/2021 21:36

Why 😂😂

Had a bit of a rubbish day here - tried doing some work and some house stuff and haven't finished what I should have with either so have given it up as a bad job and come to bed out of the way.

I need opinions on Christmas lights for a conservatory - priority in January obviously Xmas Grin
Plan is to put a real tree in there. I used to have warm white lights, then a few years ago switched to multi coloured. Now I'm on the fence - I want the lights pictured for around the windows but they'll need to match the lights on the tree.... what do we think, warm white or coloured?
