Just spent £30 on cheese. Just for me.

Tell me this is perfectly acceptable to do? Grin

My family aren't huge cheese eaters so for Christmas I just make sure we have the basics in ... a strong supermarket cheddar and some Brie

But on a whim I decided to order some cheese just for me. So I've just spent 30 quid on Neal's Yards and bought 2 different cheddars, a goats cheese and some damson paste

Seems just a bit ... extravagant. Even by my standards!

I LOVE PORT SALUT!

I hate blue cheese so it was nice being able to pick the stuff I like. I was up to 62 quid at one point which just seemed insane for one person 😂

Well I certainly feel absolutely validated right now.

I'm pretty bloody extravagant anyway but I've never ordered decent cheese before. I choose the nicest that the supermarket have but not the same is it!?

And I saw some posts about Neal's Yard Dairy and thought .... yes! I'm doing it! Dunno what damson paste is either but sounds delicious so what the hell

We live near a lot of the cheese producers of Leicester and are incredibly fortunate to be able to fill our faces with amazing cheese on a regular basis. Once we even got a full wheel of red stiltonish for £10 after an over order..

For my birthday this year we went to a deli and spent £50 on cheese and cured meats for dinner. Was delicious

Perfectly reasonable.

I have started eating very expensive top quality cheese as a way of reducing my cheese intake - now instead of buying a huge block of supermarket cheese and getting through it far too fast, I spend the same amount of money on quarter of the volume of much much better cheese. I eat it in small slivers and savour every morsel, I think I get more net cheese enjoyment overall, with fewer calories consumed!

Christmas must and shall contain excellent cheese.

Go for it! I love Neal's Yard cheeses, and it's a lovely shop to go to.

YAB a little bit U though for not liking blue cheese. But nobody's perfect Grin

I’ve ordered £60 worth of cheese just for DH and I to be delivered on 23rd December.

I’m due any day and it’s my birth present to myself. Along with a sushi platter.

I think DH is planning on doing exactly the same as I’m not a cheese person. You definitely need to stock up on what gives you pleasure at Christmas.
I spent £110 on books today and NONE of them are for me...:-(

@Londonmummy66 I love Paxton and Whitfield! I usually go a couple of days before Christmas to stock up - last year there was a man ahead of me who spent almost £500. On cheese. The man is my hero.

Hmmm, I wasn't going to make the trip this year (no family Christmas) but I might have to after this thread.

@MaverickDanger sushi has always be my post birth meal of choice. Good luck and enjoy!

@IntermittentParps oh I just can't bear it. No idea why? Thought of it and the smell mainly!

Love all other cheeses though. Apart from that one that smells really bad - name escapes me
