Evening!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

Great news why! A lovely idea crazy.
It is warmer here today. The icy, foggy morning felt nice and wintery.
I have wrapped and posted presents for family I can't see this year and need to finish Christmas cards this - including letters, return stuff I ordered online and get to the gym. Then start wrapping at the weekend (plus tidy away all decoration boxes). It is the busiest part of term so I get less stuff done at home than I expect. Have a good day all!

NerosFiddle · 09/12/2020 07:56

Morning.

Freezing here again. Ds had to get a test yesterday. He had a temperature after school so I had to take him. It came through this morning that it's negative. Thank god.

I'm hopefully going to post my cards tomorrow. I have Sainsbury's coming tonight with my stamps.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2020 08:32

Neros, I print postage online. I love it! (I've 3 things for DH to drop off at the sorting office today!)

I need to sort my last few cards too. They'll go this week at some point.

Constantly, is your school taking the day off next Friday? Ours isn't as the head doesn't agree with the short notice impact on parents and doesn't want to move it from elsewhere either!

Neros, I'm glad your DS was negative. We're lucky in that none of us have needed tests (yet)!

NerosFiddle · 09/12/2020 08:36

Fluffy we don't have a printer at home. When the last one broke we never bothered to get another.

We've had to do so many tests. Honestly I've lost count.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2020 08:46

We only got a cheaper Canon one, just to have one. It's not bad as home printers go!

Considering the numbers in our area previously, I think we've done well regarding the tests!

ConstantlyCooking · 09/12/2020 09:04

Fluffy - No day off next Friday but it is a half day and the head has said we can all leave once the last child has gone (The staff lunch is cancelled).
It is nice to break up relatively early this year so I should be able to unwind a bit before Christmas!

ConstantlyCooking · 09/12/2020 09:05

I do know I am lucky to have the extra time.

WreckTangled · 09/12/2020 09:11

Ours finish at 2 anyway, I can't see the schools closing for the whole day seems light more hassle than it's worth.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2020 09:43

That's essentially what our head said, Wreck. We finish at 2 (well, an hour before the usual Covid-staggered pick up) as well.

Why does this thread keep dropping off my watches threads?!

OP posts:
ConstantlyCooking · 09/12/2020 09:53

Why are your schools closing early?

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2020 10:12

We always close an hour early when it's end of term! I think it's just a little treat or something.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 09/12/2020 10:53

We always finish early too, before Christmas and summer holidays. It's great unless you're meant to be working Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 09/12/2020 11:05

Morning everyone. We have a nice calm day here this morning, not a blow on the trees. My daughter got her result and it was negative thankfully. Just remembered need to buy my DS's Christmas bedding, any recommendations please on where have some nice ones. TIA

BiddyPop · 09/12/2020 11:32

Congratulations Why that's great news on the job, and on the spider.

DD's school are doing remote school for 1.5 days on Christmas week, to "test the changes they've made since summer term" in case it's needed again. Most teachers have already said they're not doing classes those days, but she's looking forward to the quiet time!

We put the tree up last night!! Things are slowly getting done (and I bought a pack of mince pies from the great bakery locally on my way home from physio - I was in need of some comfort....) Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

Back to work....

CrazyBaubles · 09/12/2020 13:26

I'm so pleased for you why I would say I wish Feb would come quickly but we don't want to rush Christmas Xmas Grin

Thanks constantly. I realised I sounded a bit defensive about writing DHs class cards - it's because I get jokes about being his PA / skivvy every year and it irritates me

I don't think the schools here are closing early. I wish they would - the last 3 times we've been away for Christmas it's been me picking him up from school on the last day of term and doing a mad dash to the airport.

Woohoo to having the tree up Biddy

I'm being so productive in work today. I had a days worth of work planned to get me to 4:30 and I've done it all 🥳 so now I'm doing a few things that have been sitting in my queue for ages, waiting for me to get around to them.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/12/2020 06:46

Morning!

Day #36887643 of my cold! Surely it'll go by Christmas?!

I wish I was as productive as you, Crazy. I had to draft long-winded court papers yesterday afternoon and it took forever. I therefore have lots to do today to catch up.

ConstantlyCooking · 10/12/2020 06:58

2 weeks until Christmas Eve! Most cards now ready to post (except 4 which need letters!)
Have a good day all!

pussycatinboots · 10/12/2020 07:17

Morning,
Going to write the cards later, DH will post them tomorrow.
I made mince pies yesterday and they were surprisingly edible Xmas Grin
I'm half way through knitting DH a scarf, it's easier to do in an evening and means I get to watch a bit of telly.
We've already started the last season of The West Wing. I may have square eyes 😵 Not sure what we'll binge on next.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/12/2020 08:03

Forgot to say, I finished the second bookmark last night. And started my Historical Sampler Advent one. I'm hoping to complete it before the big day!

Morning.

Being so productive really took it out of me Fluffy. I'm so congested I ended up with an awful headache and was in bed by 9 but couldn't sleep. Eventually managed about 7 broken hours but I feel tired and groggy today.
Love the bookmark!
Do you have a pic of what the advent sampler will look like when done? I haven't picked up my cross stitch in weeks as have been organising Christmas and crocheting instead.

puss I'm flying through the West Wing - am on season 3 ep 4 now I think.
I have a few spreadsheet / stats based tasks that I can do while it's on and I've taken to watching while I cook tea or have a bath

I'm hoping for a relatively easy day as I feel rubbish. Luckily DHs Covid test came back negative yesterday so he's back in work and out of my hair.

Also had a message from MIL last night. Presents had arrived and she loved the little crochet Christmas tree so I'm pleased with that Xmas Smile

WreckTangled · 10/12/2020 08:36

Dos cried this morning because he didn't want to go to school, said he felt sick, he was really sad. But like the good mum I am I told him I would get the head teacher to pick him up in his pjs if he didn't get dressed and sent him in Grin they can call me if he's unwell and he was fine once he was dressed.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 10/12/2020 09:06

Morning, as I am sure you can believe I did not do anything with my Christmas cards the other day, not sure where time goes. At work again today, my leave is a distant memory it is so busy.

In other news I have finished my Dad's scarf and I am hoping to (finally) start creating the pom poms for Mum's scarf this weekend.

NerosFiddle · 10/12/2020 09:33

Morning.

Boots I'd recommend Outlander next or the sopranos. Or the Americans. Depending on what you want.

I need a full day of doing nothing. I'm so tired. Didn't sleep at all on Tuesday night because I was waiting on ds results.

BiddyPop · 10/12/2020 11:56

I'm doing a drafting job today, that means I am getting my head down rather than looking at emails or having meetings - but is not so involved as some recent ones, so I have the West Wing on my ipad as well. (I had Scandal on originally, but that was too interesting because I have never seen it before and was distracting me).

DH is in the office today so I am home alone (hence the ipad for company). Tonight, I might go to a nearby village as their off-licence has a good craft beer selection and usually a good range of winter and Christmas ales, which I pick a nice selection for DH. And I need to go to Lidl to get the goodies for Cubs Christmas and end of the year "Pirate picnic" party on Saturday. The fun badge I hope to give them still hasn't arrived - I have the main badge they've all earned, but it would be nice to give them another one too as we couldn't do any adventure badges this year.

Need to make a few phonecalls, then get back to West Wing and writing....

MarshmallowManiac · 10/12/2020 12:34

Afternoon everyone. Quite a nice day here today nice and calm and not too cold. Wrapped a few more stocking fillers (with help from DH), slowly getting there. Last night sorted pantry cupboard in the kitchen, have more pasta than I thought. Have been watching Trial 4 on Netflix and it is really good, doesn't look too great for the police in Boston though! Forgot to take chicken out last night so fear we will have to have pizza and chips again.

I feel I parent exactly like you Wreck, 'Come on get your clothes on you'll be fine', I call it pull your socks up kind of parenting. Seems to work in our house though, they don't seem to have many days off school or work. Grin

Have never watched West Wing Biddy would you recommend it then?
