Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Morning.

My presents are either in the attic or at dp house. When we get out of lockdown I need to wrap them all. I kept twitching and ha e bought loads for dc stockings.

Sainsbury's is coming at 9.30 and I do t know if I have any real dinners ordered. I booked the slot ages ago and forgot about it.

pussycatinboots · 22/10/2020 13:01

We've just had lunch and washed up and Tilly fell in the bowl of soapy bubbles. She is not a happy 😾 🤭 Neither is DH as there are damp paw prints all over everywhere. 😂
why put your feet up and rest, you don't want to do all the chores at once.
Nero did you get anything nice? 🤭😂

NerosFiddle · 22/10/2020 13:46

Boots there's a lot of sweets for Halloween. Even though we can't trick or treat this year, it's ds birthday so he can have sweets for a wee family party.

I see we've been told to prepare for a virtual Christmas.

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/10/2020 14:46

We were just discussing a virtual Christmas Neros. The only one it would adversely affect is MIL but she is in a bubble with one of my SILs so will hopefully have some company.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/10/2020 14:56

I can't find the virtual Christmas news. Where is it?! Bloody pandemic.

Neros, shopping fail! I hope it's not £40 of sweets though. 😂😂

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 22/10/2020 15:04

This is the article I was discussing with DH. Obviously we aren't in Scotland but he had said yesterday that MIL was saying she didn't want anyone to put themselves out over Christmas 🙄 and was asking how we could accommodate a virtual Christmas.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/10/2020 15:25

God. It's all so depressing! Especially as there's apparently no way out of Tier 3.

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/10/2020 15:29

Hi all. I have booked a festive afternoon tea at the Celtic Manor, just really hope it goes ahead! Otherwise am preparing for it to just be the 3 of us so thinking of ways to make it special.

One more day until half term! I cannot wait. Hopefully during half term I can actually keep up with you all.

WreckTangled · 22/10/2020 15:35

And I'm out! No more work until the 2nd nov.

Bought dd a Christmas jumper from Sainsbury's.

Fluffy surely they're reduce back to tier 2 once the numbers have gone right down?

WreckTangled · 22/10/2020 15:36

Oh and I got ds some socks. Had to get the biggest size he's only 7 and has size 3 feet.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/10/2020 15:40

You'd think so, Wreck, but BoZo couldn't answer that question in PMQs yesterday. So who knows?!

I stayed there many moons ago, Most. Very posh!

I didn't see Christmas clothes in Sainsbury's. Must've had my eyes shut!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 22/10/2020 15:58

I'm not sure fluffy, the one I went into yesterday didn't have any, apart from pj's, this one had a selection of Christmas jumpers for girls I didn't look at boys as ds has one.

NerosFiddle · 22/10/2020 15:59

Fluffy I have 2 bottles of milk, a couple of loaves and cereal and pasta so we'll have to suffer for a week 😂.

Wreck enjoy your break. I need to get dd a Christmas jumper too. Although I could always put ds one from last year one. That's the good thing about Irish twins

Most the afternoon tea sounds good. Fingers crossed for you.

Woolly it was the Scottish one they were talking about on the radio here too.

A gp was on local radio there and he said they've all been told they have to have a plan in place my Christmas for a mass roll out of a vaccine.

apumpkinaday · 22/10/2020 16:25

One more day to go! My head feels like it’s going to burst but I can’t wait for half term now! I’m really excited to spend some time with the DC as I feel very guilty for them being in nursery so much, even though we’ll be isolated for half term!.

I’m enjoying the present hiding ideas! I think my DM and Nan will be coming over for Christmas Eve (they’re in my bubble), so they may hide it at theirs and then bring them over and strategically hide them on Christmas Eve.

constantly oh ill have a look at matalan thank you!

A virtual Christmas sounds so upsetting!. I have my Nan and DM in my bubble, they live together and I’m a single adult household. But I won’t be able to see any extended family, like everyone and it really upsets me. For months I had it in my head that at least at Christmas things will be normal, but now we know it probably won’t be it is really depressing.

most I hope your festive afternoon tea isn’t cancelled!. I want to book some Christmassy things but I’m just worried about the cancellation.

pussycatinboots · 22/10/2020 16:34

fluffy The only way out of Tier 3 is probably Tier 4...then 5...🤡🤷🏻‍♀️
Sains have Christmas Jumpers and Halloween stuff in for kids and adults and dogs
Nero At least it had some basics and wasn't 100s of ice lollys. Grin
I wonder how you pull a virtual cracker?

CrazyBaubles · 22/10/2020 17:59

Lol at your mystery shopping Neros
I think I've mentioned before that dsis calls her 2 Irish Twins but was told off for saying something 'so offensive.'
In her case though, nephew who is older is also smaller so he gets the hand-me-downs from niece.

A virtual Christmas sounds so sad. I know lots of people like doing their own thing and not seeing people (me included some times which is why we go away every other year) but when I'm home I like to fit in visits to lots of family and friends.

How are things in your school most? A lot of DHs school are home, self isolating, at the moment (around a third I think) but mostly the pupils rather than staff so it's manageable.

Woohoo for your break Wreck

I've had a much better day. New plan with dsis to make her life easier is that eldest nephew is going to come to mine after school a few days each week after half term and he came today. His face looks awful but he was happy and a complete chatterbox (which is rarer and rarer these days - teenage attitude is on its way already)!

Lunchtime walk was so good - perfect autumn day, clear blue sky, cold, leaves turning and lots of squirrels.

Now have big plans to have a soak in the bath and cross stitch

pussycatinboots · 22/10/2020 18:03

Crazy don't drop it! Grin

WreckTangled · 22/10/2020 18:09

Our school hasn't had to send any bubbles home yet. None of my friends children's schools have either.

Crazy that'll be nice for you and your nephew. I wish my sisters lived closer.

pussycatinboots · 22/10/2020 18:27

Anyone else heard about this?
Supermarkets told sell only essentials in Wales lockdown
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-54648194

CrazyBaubles · 22/10/2020 18:40

Lol puss - even with my lack of common sense I wouldn't try and cross stitch in the bath!

And I hadn't seen that article but I understand it - last time people were using the fact they could go food shopping to just wander around Asda / Sainsbury's. More than a few had trollies full of clothes then almost no food so I guess it gives people less reason to break the rules and go out.

Wreck I really like my nephew. Sounds a bit odd but you know that some kids can be a bit whiny / annoying / sensitive etc - he's just lovely. He likes to learn things and teach me things, he's funny (although sarcastic) and I like getting some one to one time with him because he's almost always around the little 2.

I forgot to say, after my disaster day yesterday, I realised this morning that I took the burnt pan off the cooker and put it straight on the wooden chopping board and burnt that too 🙄 It has a perfect black / charred semicircle and DH is not impressed...

pussycatinboots · 22/10/2020 18:48

Crazy I once put a casserole dish straight from the oven on to the rug in the kitchen (it was that or drop it on the floor tbh).
It melted the rug.🤦🏻‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 22/10/2020 18:50

Oh no, Crazy, as if it could get worse! 🙈😂

Surely knickers ARE essential, Boots? I wouldn't want to go without undies! The supermarkets will now have a rush on for booze etc to last for the firebreak period! Counter productive, I feel.

DS' school haven't had any bubbles sent home. DD's school has had one Y6 bubble sent home. Yet we're apparently ravaged with the 'rona up here. 🙄

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/10/2020 18:59

We had yr 7 go home the second week. The unit for students with additional needs go home half way through the term and yr 11 go home yesterday. Also two staff cases but they didn't result in students going home.

CrazyBaubles · 22/10/2020 20:28

puss the chopping board wouldn't be so bad if the last one hasn't been ruined in the exact same way as DH couldn't wait to point out Blush

I've just seen this- I know lots of people don't like her but so many little ones are worried I thought it was quite a good move...

Countdown to Christmas 2020 (Thread 12): the one where all of the GHs have finally arrived!
pussycatinboots · 22/10/2020 21:10

Crazy I have history too. I once put a very very hot omelette pan on our sink.
It was a white plastic sink. It stuck and stuck fast. After much swearing it came off, but it left a lovely round perfect impression of the base of the pan.
The house was for sale and we had a viewing the next day so I left a pile of washing up strategically placed...
It cost us a new sink, tap, and worktops as they were rotten once the sink had been removed.
That was one expensive omelette.🤦🏻‍♀️
