Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

wreck I’m west mids way, but a large town right outside a big city so we don’t have much wildlife really. We have a woods not far from our house, but there’s nothing much other than squirrels and pigeons there. It sounds lovely by you, where abouts are you if you don’t mind me asking?

pussycatinboots · 20/10/2020 16:19

They were £12, but there's a 25% off clothing offer, so only cost £9.

Will reply with what I was actually meant to say before I accidentally pasted!. boots I’ll have a look in my local Sainsburys when I’m out of isolation and I might get some. I need some more Christmas pyjamas

CrazyBaubles · 20/10/2020 16:26

Love the bedding and Pjs puss and thank you for the heads up about the 25% off - I may have to have a look (online - the only one in my county is food with 1 aisle of seasonal and clothes so it's a bit rubbish).

Hope work isn't too bad why

☹️ about the pheasant Wreck. I know they're a bit of a pain in the arse because they don't attempt to get out of the way but it's always horrible to hit something.

I've had a really good day so far. Been productive in work, done some bits around the house (multi tasking - housework plus upping my steps / calories burned) and went for a nice lunchtime walk.

DM is lucky that her new boss has implemented a zero tolerance policy in her store and for he wanders nearby every hour or so to back up whoever is on the door. Old boss who was there when shops first reopened told her she had to just take it - dm was so upset because one teenage boy coughed at her 🤬.
Honestly, I despair of people sometimes. DM has all that to put up with, DF was doing a house renovation on an empty house during lockdown so should have been safe - except owner kept turning up unannounced with friends & family.
And don't get me started on the parents DH has had to deal with. They've had to explain in writing why parents evening will be done by phone, and had one parent walk into the class as the kids were leaving, standing in between DH and his TA (so too close to both of them), no mask, so she could kick off about it 😡

NerosFiddle · 20/10/2020 16:32

Boots im sure there's a picture of me somewhere as an elf Grin

Pumpkin I get an extra €100 too rebook so not too disappointed.

Wreck my go to is always Matalan.

I've got the gravy from home bargains. I hear great stuff about it so hopefully it's nice

NerosFiddle · 20/10/2020 16:34

Crazy I they're always the first people to reel out "be kind"

WreckTangled · 20/10/2020 16:47

Pumpkin I'm in Sussex near the Surrey border and also not far from the Hampshire boarder.

Neros I'm going near a matalan Thursday so will see if they have any. They're usually a bit sparse on kids bits though.

Crazy your poor dm!

CrazyBaubles · 20/10/2020 17:05

Neros I couldn't hide my 🙄 and 😳 face when DH told me the parent had complained about parents evening AND the fact she didn't think the school are taking enough precautions against Covid.
Couldn't see the stupidity irony of kicking off that school isn't 'safe' enough while simultaneously breaking the rules about too close / no masks etc and wanting them to break the rules so should could talk 'face to face' at parents evening.

Don't feel too sorry for DM Wreck - she's tiny but, erm, scary when she goes off on one 'capable of handling herself' 😂
When the boy coughed on her she walked at him until he backed out of the shop, and implemented a non-official zero tolerance policy by walking towards people and just repeating that they had to leave if they were rude.
My understanding is she also walked around a display to block the way of a man who had ignored her and shouted very loudly at him when he put his hand on her arm to try and move her Shock
Old manager was crap but mostly left her to it but new manager seems to think she needs his back up and she's happy with that 🤷‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2020 17:28

Crazy, it's nice to know your mum's manager is on her side, even if she is hard as nails able to look after herself.

Wreck, I once bowled a pheasant into the undergrowth by hitting it with the car. My choice was ditch to the left, head-on collision to the right or hit the pheasant. It was an easy choice!

Neros, that's too funny re the bedding! I'd love to see your elf photo. What a pain re Centre Parcs. Possibly not a huge surprise though?

Flu jab in one arm pneumonia in the other. I won't be able to lift either arm tomorrow!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2020 17:59

Do you sleep on your back / front, Wreck?

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 20/10/2020 18:02

As long as aren't forced to YMCA you'll be fine Wreck. My flu jab hurt straight away and bothered me for a day and a half. DH's started hurting him when mine stopped. I was as sympathetic as he had been 😂

Look what I treated myself to today

Countdown to Christmas 2020 (Thread 12): the one where all of the GHs have finally arrived!
NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2020 18:11

I love that jigsaw, Woolly! It reminds me of a cross stitch kit I need to get: www.johnsoncrafts.co.uk/products/santas-job-done

My flu jab site was only sore if pressed. I had it done on the side I don't really sleep on, but it was fine to sleep on a night or so after.

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 20/10/2020 18:21

Need to get??? It is a good match though, although mine was only a fiver. Jigsaws come out on 1st December.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2020 18:21

It's a definite need, yes! Xmas Grin

Thanks boots for letting me know about 25% off, I rarely shop with TU but they have some lovely little bits. I’ve just ordered myself the wham Christmas pyjamas and the strictly pyjamas. I’ll have a proper look tonight and I might get some things for the DC as it’s cheap with the 25% off.

crazy that’s really good that your DM has a zero tolerance policy at her work. That’s terrible of that young lad to cough at her! So rude. We have parents evening online here too and some parents haven’t been happy about it, but what can you do!.

neros that’s not too bad then, one set of my grandparents had booked a holiday to Scotland and just as they went to go it was locked down. They had a different hotel for every night and only got refunded a few!.

That sounds really nice wreck, I’d love to love somewhere like that but it’s good for my job and the kids nursery (school next year for DD) round here, so I’ll stay put a few more years. I’d like to retire somewhere with a bit of countryside though. My flu jab didn’t bother me too much, and I’m a wuss.

wooly I think my DM has that jigsaw! She frames her Christmas jigsaws to put a few of them up at Christmas time. I’ll see if she puts them up this year and if she does I’ll have a look and see if it is that one, but I’m sure it is!. It’s gorgeous when it’s fully done.

I love that cross stitch too fluffy I’m afraid I’m not talented enough to do anything like that. I am attempting to make Christmas cards this year though!

WreckTangled · 20/10/2020 18:38

When I get into bed I first lie on my right side, then my left and then I go onto my back to fall asleep Grin

Ah man I was looking foreword to a day of YMCA-ing tomorrow.

Pastry night tonight, not my favourite I don't think. Still not warmed to any of them.

pussycatinboots · 20/10/2020 18:44

fluffy you can get 20% off John Clayton kits if you use discount code "WOXS300" on this site before 13th Nov.
www.hcrafts.com/johnclaytoncollection.html
Not sure it would work out any cheaper though.

pussycatinboots · 20/10/2020 18:48

Wreck I'd have to cheat and take some Jus-roll secreted under my pinny Xmas Grin
My arm settled down after a couple of days. DH occasionally groaned as if he'd been shot.Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2020 18:56

Boots, I need to keep stalking eBay for it, to see if my dealer regular seller puts it up. I get them for about £20 then.

Wreck, a whole day of YMCA? You really won't be able to move the day after that!

I can kind of do pastry. I generally choose not to, however. I'd forgotten about GBBO and thought you we're talking about your dinner, mind you. 'Til you said you'd not warmed to them, anyway. Grin I haven't either really.

OP posts:
apumpkinaday · 20/10/2020 19:03

I’m terrible at pastry as well, I’m not the best cook but I do like GBBO.

Do any of you have any Christmas scented candles? I use Yankee candle normally but don’t like buying online because I can’t smell it and see if I like it, but also feel a bit weird smelling them in the current climate. Do you have any favourite you could recommend me please?

WreckTangled · 20/10/2020 19:20

Blush I obviously meant looking forward not foreword in my precious post. I blame the jabs.

Haha boots yes to the jus rol! Best invention ever.

I like the cheap Christmas candle from dunelm. It's £1 and is red.

Fluffy I had soup for dinner Grin

pussycatinboots · 20/10/2020 19:31

Wreck I've added it to my list for Thursday.
So far it's Bread, JusRoll, Spuds, Beer, fake Baileys, Chocolate, Crisps.
I think that's most of the food groups covered!😇🤭
