Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Morning!

It's so hard to get out of bed! Maybe I won't for the time being. 😂

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 12/11/2020 06:40

morning.
I've been up for over an hour as I mis-read the clock and thought it was just after 6 not 5. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Needless to say the cats were very pleased to see me and to be fed an hour early 😻
Make the most of the lie-in.😂

CrazyBaubles · 12/11/2020 07:26

Oh that is early puss!

I'm not sure what happened last night - I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep straight away and struggled to open my eyes when the alarm went off at 6:30.

Going to log on to start work soon. I have day 2 of the plumber being here which makes things a bit awkward but it needs doing...

WreckTangled · 12/11/2020 07:33

I had a good sleep for once. And have found a solution for both dc for wear tomorrow (spots). Ds is being a pain this morning , currently screaming into a pillow.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/11/2020 07:49

I'm glad you both slept better. It makes a huge difference, doesn't it?

Crazy, good luck with plumber round 2!

Wreck, DS gets like that. He's so quick to strop and shout. Drives us mad!

CrazyBaubles · 12/11/2020 10:34

Fluffy I am 😡 - the plumber isn't here yet (was due at 9:30). He was here yesterday and has done 80% of the work but we had words because he left to go and get something but didn't tell me and he left my back door and gate wide open!
I'm not chasing him but will definitely be telling landlady (and sending photos of the floor around the toilet that he's damaged).

puss I forgot to say (your hungry cats reminded me), I fed Ddog 2 dinners yesterday! I fed him after I put our tea in the oven but did it on autopilot.
An hour or so later he was around my feet and nagging at me like he was hungry. I couldn't remember feeding him so gave him his dinner (which he scoffed too, greedy sod) before DH pointed out I'd already fed him. I truly felt like I was losing my marbles then 😂

Wreck I'll take screaming into a pillow over the epic tantrums of my niece. She's only 2 so I know she's frustrated and doesn't know what to do with that feeling but she does this deep frown if you say no then just throws herself backwards and shouts / screams. Nephew (who's 3) has started to try and stroke her head to calm her down because this helps him when he's upset 😂

I have a 10 min break between meetings so have just ordered some notebooks from Etsy for 2 Nieces for Christmas. Silly but I love ticking little things like that off my list and being productive in what would otherwise be dead time 👍🏻

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/11/2020 10:38

Hi folks, not entirely sure what day it is or who I am but I am sure it will come back to me later. Had a busy Crisis Cafe shift yesterday, my boss says I am a jinx and all the difficult ones come in when I am there 🤣 In other news I bought a knitted owl doorstop from Mind yesterday because it was so lovely (not because I have doors that can be propped open) A win in my view.

ConstantlyCooking · 12/11/2020 12:56

Am trying to work out the max coffee to water ratio as I have caught the not sleeping bug. I blame the US election as I got used to waking repeatedly to check the votes!
The days begin to fly now and I still need to collect aMatalan order for DD's advent calendar (click and collect is open until 6 but I haven't managed to leave work in time yet). On a positive note the mini Christmas cakes smell amazing and I will start soaking the left over dried fruit in amaretto to make marzipan logs/ice cream in December.
I am considering a Christmas sandwich for lunch!

WreckTangled · 12/11/2020 13:02

I'm struggling on what to get my little sister (18) and my brother (23). So hard. They both have more money than me and my step mum still buys me gifts from them Hmm

Also planning our trip to New York still Grin going to do the bus tour of Dyker Heights Christmas lights (google them). Oh and definitely stay at the most expensive hotel, one with a doorman. (Yes, work is quiet today...).

pussycatinboots · 12/11/2020 13:16

Crazy DDog's going to want an extra dinner tonight too, you know🤦🏻‍♀️ I'd contact your landlady today and let her know what he has done and what you think is outstanding, with photos of any damage. You could also point out as you are WFH and can't work due to his noise interruptions he'll have to make an appointment with you and not randomly call in when he feels like it has a free half an hour
why I have an owl doorstop too. It freaks the cats out if I move it 😂
There's a reaaaallly bad Christmas film on 5Select called "The Perfect Christmas Village" the fake irish accents are awful and DH said if the snowman is made of real snow not polystyrene he'll eat it!

MarshmallowManiac · 12/11/2020 13:39

Afternoon everyone. Lovely and sunny here, a little breeze, imo the perfect Autumn day. Just watched another Christmas film 'Christmas Land' bit cheesy though.

MarshmallowManiac · 12/11/2020 14:30

By the way

Countdown to Christmas 2020 (Thread 12): the one where all of the GHs have finally arrived!
WreckTangled · 12/11/2020 14:54

Well I feel left out because I didn't receive a shielding letter Grin although I can see my GP marked me as at moderate risk of developing complications from Covid.

My calendar has been delivered! In the most ginormous box even though it was in a cardboard box anyway that also had to be undone ConfusedHmm

MarshmallowManiac · 12/11/2020 14:59

You can share mine Wreck Grin Grin Yesterday my DD received some storage boxes, and they were wrapped in a box that was wrapped in a box too madness Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 12/11/2020 14:59

I know loads of CEV people. None have letters, Wreck. They're following the government advice of shielding during lockdown only as per my attachment yesterday.

They're not even going to collect things from the GP.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 12/11/2020 15:04

The people I know who've been told to shield have either had text messages or emails this time round. Or just been told by consultants. My friends been told she can't send her daughter to school in case she brings it back with her.

Anyway back to New York research for me (I think I have mild OCD and when I get anxious I get fixated on things, currently it's this, keeps me happy but drives DH mad).

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/11/2020 15:06

I find concentrating on stuff helps me relax. Writing Christmas shopping lists in my head, meal planning or (lately) deciding what order to wrap the Christmas presents in.

pussycatinboots · 12/11/2020 16:14

speaking of consultants...DH had his phone appointment with the Cardiologist. They're happy to leave well alone for now and will be in touch in a year with a further appointment.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/11/2020 16:15

Wrapping. Need to think about that! We have the paper. Just lacking motivation.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 12/11/2020 16:18

Think DD is having a growth spurt - she's gone from feeding for about 15 minutes 12-15 times a day, to 18 feeds yesterday lasting 40 minutes+. She's really gassy as well, bless her. Between the two, we've not had much sleep the last few days...

On the plus side, whilst looking for something to watch to keep me awake during one of our epic feeds, I found a Christmas film with Dolly Parton in last night. I was a happy bunny Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/11/2020 16:21

That's good news Boots.

I've been stabbed with a cannula in both hands so I look like I've got the stigmata. 😂 I bruise like a peach.

MarshmallowManiac · 12/11/2020 16:26

My DD was really gassy Firefly and the doc recommended we wind her every half an ounce. Hard work and the feeds took forever, but it helped a little, good luck.

Good news Boots

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 12/11/2020 16:35

Howdy :)

Sorry I am around so little :( really nervous for my interview tomorrow, really wish it weren't on my birthday as will struggle to relax and enjoy the day.

Planning to go to Festive this weekend, can't wait!

pussycatinboots · 12/11/2020 16:35

fluffy sticky tape?
Firefly 18 feeds of up to 40 minutes?!?! That's getting on for 12 HOURS!
bloody hell. I didn't know babies did that! Shock
Woolly He's happy, so I'm happy except for the snoring and the grand theft duvet You can buy Hirudoid cream from the chemist, it breaks down the bruising. My dad used to use it. He was on dialysis for years and this helped with his fistula when some of the more "heavy-handed" nurses were treating him.

WreckTangled · 12/11/2020 16:40

I'm worried about wrapping too soon because a) I will forget what I've got and b) it might get damaged. It's also a hassle to get everything out of the cupboard so I tend to do most of it all in one go.

Boots that's good news re dh.

Oh dear firefly I can't say I miss the lack of sleep. Ds was the cutest baby ever but generally if he wasn't feeding or sleeping he was crying. It's lies that breastfed babies don't get wind if they're latched on properly.

Oh most that is rubbish timing. Remember that they really want to like you and want you to do well, I'm sure you'll be great.

Trying to meal plan for next week, five meals down...
