Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Friday indeedy and Seven Weeks Till Christmas Day

I was idly perusing Cristmas Jumpers/Tops on QVC , there's one I like but it's too damn short Xmas Hmm

I have a fairly tasteful black chenille with gold stars jumper onto its 3rd year at least . We will be wearing Festive Jumpers for our Zoom Meeting in December so that can make another appearance .

Part of me thinks "Cheer yourself up it's been a rubbish twelve months , buy a nice top" and my other (sensible) side of my brain thinks " Don't waste £30 on a Christmas top, that could go towards your Cat Protection League donation"

pussycatinboots · 06/11/2020 08:23

why you should be taking years away, not adding them on 🤦🏻‍♀️
Bright and sunny here. Bit chilly out, so I may have to break out my longer coat instead of my bum freezer.
fluffy I think you've passed your headache on to me. It was fine until I let rip with the biggest sneeze and I think I've rattled my brain 🤔🤪
Wreck your DH must know he's wrong by now. If you need help digging the patio, let us know.
Firefly 😂😂

FireflyGirl · 06/11/2020 09:01

It's very foggy here, but that's usually the case after bonfire night anyway.

DH was really apologetic about the fireworks all night - think he partly feels so guilty because he didn't want to do fireworks at all and I insisted. But DS had the best bonfire night ever, so that's all that matters to me.

Hope your headache clears up, boots.

Wreck I'm in no state to help with the patio digging, but I've watched enough murder documentaries to give tips on how to get away with it Wink

70 if you like your Christmas jumper, stick with it. You can always jazz it up a bit! Get some cheap lights to go on it, tinsel round the sleeves, sew on some jingle bells...

Hope you enjoyed your birthday Fluffy!

WreckTangled · 06/11/2020 11:22

Grin thanks!

Aldi was heaving but Sainsbury's was quiet. I got the snowman and snow dog loo roll and kitchen towel, will put them away until December. I got sparklers in the range as they were half price plus I got: wrapping paper, chocolate coins and Aldi Nutella to stick the personalised labels on. Hope it's nice.

CrazyBaubles · 06/11/2020 11:44

How all. I was expecting a plumber at 9 this morning and still no sign 😡
Also, we were contacted yesterday by the airline to say the flights for both our December trips have been cancelled. Not unexpected but still a bit rubbish - this December would have been amazing, I was supposed to do a Christmas cruise to Bruges on 12th, Prague on Boxing Day for 3 days then Iceland for NY. Instead we're going nowhere 😞

70 I've been having similar thoughts. I really want to buy a Christmas dress but at the same time, I have several perfectly fine jumpers so I don't need one...

I'm hoping to finish work at 4 today. My concentration is rubbish so I'm working slowly (from my bed too as I moved so the plumbers wouldn't be right outside the window of the spare room, disrupting me).

Also Wreck, I had a rant to a friend a while ago after an argument with DH and she sent me this. Just a little FYI for you Xmas Grin

Countdown to Christmas 2020 (Thread 12): the one where all of the GHs have finally arrived!
WreckTangled · 06/11/2020 12:06

Ah crazy that's so crap I can't imagine how disappointing it is Sad those trips sound amazing.

I've been watching The Undoing it's really good.

pussycatinboots · 06/11/2020 13:55

I've baked some double chocolate cup cakes. There was supposed to be enough for 12, but I put them in muffin cases/tray so there's 8...well, there's 7 now...oops😳
😇
Crazy you need to reset your Christmas.
Plan your days now, you'll need a wrapping day, a writing cards day, a practice Christmas Lunch day or 2, a Christmas Cocktails afternoon or 3 (best on a Saturday so you're not hung over 🥴🍸 on a work day), a family zoom Christmas Quiz that you can also do in person 🤞🏻, a Christmas baking day or 3...
Bruges, Prague and Iceland will still be there next year.
Firefly you can provide Wreck with an alibi. 😉😇
...nothing to see here, officer. Just a bit of gardening...

ConstantlyCooking · 06/11/2020 17:24

70 you could jazz up your existing jumper and wait to see what reductions are around closer to Christmas- there is going to be a lot of stock to shift ( either that or lots of desperate shoppers!
Crazy - those trips sound amazing. Fingers crossed for next year. In the meantime Boots' plan sounds good - the Christmas plan not the how to dispose of a body plan.

WreckTangled · 06/11/2020 17:25

Well you have to taste them boots to ensure they're edible...

Dh apologised. Think I need a lie down.

The dc have to wear spots for CIN next week. They have no spotty clothes.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2020 17:42

Wreck, our CIN dress down is spots OR own clothes. It'll be own clothes!

And 😱😱😱 re your DH. Madness!

Boots, I'll take a cake from you. 😁

Crazy, sorry about your trips.

70, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get a jumper, as Constantly said.

I'm very glad it's the weekend. It's been a long old week (must be my age!).

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/11/2020 18:28

Crazy that's pants about your trips. I'm trying to persuade my DDs that we need to do a Christmas market cruise. Maybe we'll be on the same one next year and I'll buy you a cocktail.

All done at the hospital. He found a polyp so hopefully that's the end of it. I need to see him in a couple of weeks for my follow up appointment and pathology results. I'm now waiting to be discharged. I've got another week of self isolation next week - maybe I should crack on with my wrapping.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2020 18:31

Hopefully that's all that's caused the issues, Woolly. Fingers crossed you're discharged soon.

You'll be expert at avoiding your family self isolating.

MarshmallowManiac · 06/11/2020 21:56

Evening everyone. Quite a nice day here, fairly warm and quite sunny. Hope everybody has had a good week, we have only had 3 days with the children but it feels longer. Going back to four day rota next week for the kids on our class's day off we usually help in another class in our corridor.

Wow can't believe it's only 7 weeks to Christmas day 70, seems to be flying. Grin

Wreck what was it that Carole Baskin supposedly did, killed him off and fed him to the tigers. Sounds extremely inventive to me.

Sorry to hear about your trips Crazy, that's really crap! Flowers and buy the damn dress, shoes, bag you deserve it after that horrible news.

Good luck with the appointment and results Woolly, glad you're all done. Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/11/2020 22:01

Yes I think I could happily do a stint in solitary - providing I could have my knitting and my kindle (plus the WiFi password, obviously 😂). I suspect they would be forbidden and I'd have an old tennis ball like Steve McQueen did. 🤔
Maybe I shouldn't offer myself to sort out Wreck's issue.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/11/2020 22:34

Ah Woolly were you sedated or was it one of those situations where you're laid there and they try to bloody chat to you ?
Sometimes it takes your mind off it , other times you think "Just pretend I;m not here , that's what I'm doing ! "

I made :
carrot&coriander soup
spinach quiche
lasagne (vegetarian)
brownies

I have been ver ver busy , put away bedding into space saver bags and did 4 loads of laundry

#winning at this Domestic Goddess lark

CrazyBaubles · 06/11/2020 22:42

puss my friend said something similar when I moaned to her earlier. I know there are way worse things than losing some holidays but we booked these so we could have our version of the perfect Christmas balance of family fun at home and grown up / posh / relaxing time away.
Will definitely nab a few of those ideas though - the Christmas cocktail afternoons particularly appeal to me 🍹

Wreck I hope you have this date noted somewhere along with the exact wording of the apology!

woolly wouldn't it be so apt for us to virtually meet on the Christmas thread then meet in person on a Christmas cruise Xmas Smile, I'd love that!

Marshmallow I am going to look for a Christmas dress online and as long as I can find one that isn't £££ I'm going to treat myself.

70 I hate when they try and chat while doing something like that. I had to have a dye injected to check my womb & tubes (can't for the life of me remember the name of the procedure). It went a bit wrong (allergic reaction to the dye) so while I was uncomfortable, embarrassed then in pain the 2 clinicians were chatting to me about Christmas shopping etc!

If you could send me some of your motivation I'd be most grateful, you've been so busy you don't need any more 😂

I'm going to bed, Im shattered from trying to work and follow the American election all day

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/11/2020 23:10

Crazy when I went in for a colonoscopy ( lovely dark room and sedation thankfully) they were talking to me about Nicola Sturgeon and Alec Salmond ....I have no idea how we got onto that topic of conversation while I was on the blissful edge of I'm not here and that tube us really not going up my bum denial
Xmas Grin
Took my mind off it though !

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 07/11/2020 06:43

Morning all :)

Sorry about your trips crazy :(

Happy belated birthday fluffy

Sorry I have been AWOL again. However next Friday I have an interview for a three day a week, term time only job which would be amazing! The interview is on my birthday so surely that means they have to give it to me? Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2020 07:19

Morning! I slept beyond 7; it's a modern day miracle!

It's been very goosey overhead these last few days. Last thing I hear at night, first thing I hear in the morning! 😁

Most, what's the job? It sounds ideal! Is it near to where you live? And you definitely have to get a birthday job. Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2020 08:29

Forgot to say, I bought this bedding last night!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2020 08:38

Ooh Nutcracker bedding Xmas Grin

It says Delivery between 5-6 weeks so hopefully you'll have a couple of weeks of Festive Bedding before Christmas this year .

I need to wash DS red snowflake bedding ( the rest of us have ours on already !)

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 07/11/2020 08:41

Ooh that is gorgeous fluffy!

The job is further away but I can live with that 3 days a week. It's a School Support Officer job, higher grade than I am currently but fewer hours so a payout but I am confident we can cut household costs if I have two days at home every week with DS in school. At the moment we pay out quite a lot to make life more convenient due to being so busy so I can claw some of that back.

WreckTangled · 07/11/2020 08:46

Great news most that sounds interesting.

Fluffy love the bedding.

Nothing planned here today. Maybe some baking and cooking or might do that tomorrow. The dc want soup for lunches next week so need to make that.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2020 08:59

70, we aren't without festive bedding! We have a few sets. Xmas Grin But I had a £5 voucher to use and decided to buy something for myself for a change, not the kids!

I hope you get the job, Most. Sounds ideal.

I'm allotmenting today. Once I get my arse into gear. 😂😂

It might be too wet to dig, but I can clear weeds away so it starts to look presentable! It's the first weekend in a while where it's not been tipping down.

Our washing is almost dry after going out overnight too. Though I can see muck on DD's school skirt. Hopefully it's bird poo, not anything she's done to it at school!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 07/11/2020 09:00

It's going to be 16° here today! We won't put our washing out now though as everyone is lighting their fires and it'll just end up smelling.
