Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Channel 5 have started to show a cheesy Christmas film in an afternoon. Xmas Grin

I've never been to Primark. I think there's one in Chester (where C&A used to be). Then again, I've not been in John Lewis either. Xmas Shock

We've been tidying the garage again. DH has only lost his temper with the Dyson twice today...not sure what's wrong with him - he's normally threatened it with a skip at least 4 times before lunch. Xmas Grin It's developed an annoying squeak too. The Dyson not DH, although...

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 03/11/2020 11:03

Morning 😀 day off today. My son has a phone assessment in a bit, not sure we will get anywhere but worth a try. I am hoping to wrap some of the present stash today but not holding my breath as I have alot to catch up on with being on nights most of last week.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 03/11/2020 11:04

Hmmm Boots, my Dyson squeaks as well much to my annoyance.

pussycatinboots · 03/11/2020 11:42

why I suspect it has some cat litter stuck in it's ball Hmm and I can't be arsed to take it apart again does yours have a really stiff cable that knots itself if you walk past it?

Biddy Thank you! Postie has been. Xmas Smile
I can start my next one now, or tomorrow as there's a load of backstitch to do on the current one first I hate backstitch I'll get it started before I start watching the Election results overnight/early tomorrow.

Neros I'm hoping to stay up or get up really early.

Anyone else seen the Christmas Aldi ad with Kevin the Carrot and Turkey? It's fabulous 💕💕🥕🦃💕💕

BiddyPop · 03/11/2020 11:45

Morning all, after a horrible night it is less windy but the sun is out this morning. Work is busy, but DD is back to school (and very happy to be going out the door in the mornings), DH is working way too late into the night, so Christmas is kinda on the back foot still. Well, packages have been arriving (winter PJs, DH slippers, DD airpods, DH ipad, nice hot choc). I'm still waiting for my cards from the RNLI to get started writing them. And I need to organise my overseas packages (at least the transatlantic one) very soon.

But I went onto the supermarket website yesterday morning and they had all of December available for booking slots. So I now have a trolley ordered every week until 22nd December. And I also remembered to stick a turkey breast into the right one for Thanksgiving dinner at the end of this month.

Definitely colder this week though - DH suggested changing our duvet last night Shock and DD was grumbling this morning as well (but her heater may need to be reprogrammed after we had a power cut on Halloween). And I can see the grass of the green again through the tree outside the window as the leaves have started to thin out.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 03/11/2020 13:23

Boots I suspect there is guinea pig/hamster sawdust lodged in it somewhere. Yes our cable does the same, drives me bats.

CrazyBaubles · 03/11/2020 14:03

puss I haven't seen the Aldi ad but I've watched the Amazon and TK Max one. Didn't really like Amazon but the Tk Max one made me laugh 😂

why I read that as A Hampstead or guinea pig lodged in the hoover 😂

I'm on my lunch break and feeling wiped out (thanks hormones). Walk is done and I have 10 minutes left which I'm using to faff online and drink a cuppa.

CrazyBaubles · 03/11/2020 14:31
  • A hamster - just took me ages to do that correctly as autocorrect apparently doesn't like the work hamster! Blush
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 03/11/2020 14:59

Haha crazy. Would be a bit extreme hoovering them up bless their paws. I just went to read it in case I had put that 🤣

WreckTangled · 03/11/2020 15:11

I haven't seen any Christmas ads! We tend not to watch live tv though.

Ds has his last football training this evening before lockdown and dd has piano at 4. It's going to be so dark sitting in my car waiting for ds (I have to stay as we live too far to come back) I can't go anywhere because no where is open past 5.

WreckTangled · 03/11/2020 15:16

Oh crazy I just watched the amazon one 😩😩 maybe I'm just hormonal Grin

pussycatinboots · 03/11/2020 15:28

We're watching The West Wing on Ch4, the Aldi ad (first in a series) is on in nearly every ad break. Think Tom Cruise, watch the birdie 📸 Xmas GrinXmas Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 03/11/2020 18:17

We don't watch much TV with adverts, so haven't seen any Christmas ads yet.

Vacuuming a hamster up would definitely block the nozzle. I don't recommend that course of action! 😂😂

Biddy, why does your DH have to work so late? Does he need to say no?

Boots, your DH must have been feeling benevolent! 😂

It's still raining here. It's never-ending!

Boots are they showing the WW election special? I really want to see it. Planning to see the Florida results tonight and then I'll go to bed with my fingers crossed.

I'm now in proper Greta Garbo style self isolation. Had my Covid test today 🤮 so I'm all set for my admission on Friday providing I'm negative. I've got my kindle and my knitting so I'm ok.

Fluffy do you have a potting bench? I'm tempted to get one for DH for Christmas and my friend has kindly volunteered her joiner husband to build it so I can give him a completed gift rather than a flat pack. We have potting bench envy after watching Gardeners World each week.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/11/2020 20:25

I don't. But we regret not buying the Aldi one this year, so I say go for it!

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/11/2020 20:33

That's all the recommendation I need.

Has anyone ever had a wreath kit from Etsy? I was browsing Christmas stuff yesterday and came across them. Someone local works as a florist and was going to order me a mossed wreath and some greenery but I don't know if they have to close with the lockdown (I assume they do) and I don't want to ask and appear insensitive. The kits work out at about £30 - dearer than my DIY plans but less expensive than the course I did last year.

pussycatinboots · 03/11/2020 20:40

Woolly The whole WW box set is on All4. We've watched all of season 1 and are about 4ish into season 2 (there's only 156 episodes).

MarshmallowManiac · 03/11/2020 20:49

Evening everyone. Calmer day today with a little wind and a few spots of rain. Think it is to be drier and nicer as the week progresses. Very tired today, had about 2 hours sleep. Couldn't seem to get any amount of rubbish out of my brain, guess it's all this uncertainty. Sad Hope you all are fairing better. Smile Went to town this evening after work, so many people.

Hope your first day back was great Crazy

Really feeling like I want to watch the Grinch Boots accompanied by mince pies and hot choc of course!

Biddy hope you enjoyed your packages, you just reminded me to get some hot choc. Smile

Just watched 'Inside the Force' about the Garda in Ireland, really enjoyed it.

Me too Woolly, fingers, toes, arms and eyes the lot Grin

Awake since 4:30... dh and I had an argument last night and I'm not talking to him

There's a mobile bank in town today which I might to to get to in my lunch break. Lunch break will have to be at 11!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/11/2020 06:04

Morning!

I've been awake a while, Wreck. Not quite as long as you though! I need to run today, but I'm struggling to get motivated. Especially because I've been awake so long.

I'm watching US results come in and wondering what on Earth is going on to make it such a close race. 🤷‍♀️

Wreck, good luck getting to the mobile bank; that would be handy.

What was your argument about?!

I'm wondering the same thing fluffy it's astounding.

It was about money. Obviously. I always pay for everything for the dc and have bought all Christmas presents so far. Dh said I could use up to £500 on his credit card as he is still owed money (£900 of which he owes to me) I said I wouldn't need that much but thanks that's a great help as I still have the dc main presents to get. Monday he said I could use 'the cheque' to pay off my credit card no problem it's my money to do as I wish. Yesterday I asked for his cc as the nerf gun ds wants is on offer, no problem. I said the details were stored now so if I need to get anything else for Christmas I won't need his card I can just get it. Then he gets mad and says I should be using the money from my grandparents and he said that I could use his cc before I got that money and I have hundreds of pounds a month spare (I don't!). When I try explaining what I pay for he just looks forward and raises his eyebrows whilst I'm speaking so I just came to bed as there's no point trying to talk to him. He really thinks he pays for everything and has no idea. We have a joint account for our bills etc but some things just come out of my account. He always says 'oh don't worry I'll pay for that/give you back the money' but then conveniently forgets or gets cross when I ask for it. If he had been paid the money he's owed then we wouldn't be needing to use credit cards in the first place Angry

Anyway never mind. I'll continue to ignore him until he apologises or I forget why I'm so cross. Whichever comes first the latter for sure

NoWordForFluffy · 04/11/2020 06:43

Oh that would annoy me too. I'm Team Wreck!

I've not gone for a run. I've been awake too long and have a headache. Not a good combination!
