Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Morning!

Another early wake up and I'm debating whether it'll be safe to run at 6.30! The wind appears to have dropped, thankfully, and it doesn't sound like it's raining now. But I don't want to get 2 miles from home and it chuck down! I'll look out of the window when I get up and go from there!

Neros, did your legs fare better overnight? And did you POAS?!

DD has asked for a cuddly parrot for Christmas. I'm now down a parrot wormhole!

Morning.
It's chucking it down out there! How does it know I'm going shopping in a bit?? How?😖 I don't mind getting wet, but DH will moan to Olympic standard.
70 I've had Christmas bedding on all year (it's been washed regularly 😳) I meant to change it after my birthday (first lockdown week) but thought "bugger it" who needs plain white in a pandemic!
Not sure about Snowman loo roll fluffy I'd rather wipe my bum on someone I don't like...is there a politician version 🤡 ? 😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2020 06:16

Yep I've seen Trump and BoZo paper online, Boots!

I don't think I'll trust the weather to run, given the forecast. I need to iron some school shirts anyway! It's meant to be dry from Weds anyway. Seems safer to wait!

WreckTangled · 02/11/2020 07:11

Work today. I don't think they'll be loads to do. I'm going to watch Holidate and light the Christmas candle.

CrazyBaubles · 02/11/2020 07:40

Morning!
No work for me today as we were supposed to arrive back from holiday late yesterday. I was going to cancel my leave but DH is back in school so I'm going to enjoy having the house to myself.

Plans are similar to yours Wreck - I'm having a Christmas themed day! Sorting out present stash, ordering presents, watching Christmas films and possibly writing Christmas cards Xmas Smile. Im going to fully indulge while DH isn't here to roll his eyes at me.

NerosFiddle · 02/11/2020 08:31

Morning.

I don't need to POAS. I will not be having the thread baby. 😂

Marshmallow fingers crossed tor a good week in school. It's our first day back too after 2 off.

Legs were a lot better last night. I was even able to sleep for a full 8 hours.

Wreck and crazy I am jealous of your day. Dh is off next week and I'm going to get him to take dc out for a day so I can wrap up presents and watch a film.

Fluffy and boots you can buy trump toilet roll here but I've not seen Bozo.

FireflyGirl · 02/11/2020 15:38

I don't need to POAS. I will not be having the thread baby spoil sport Nero Wink

Glad you managed to get more sleep last night, though.

I wrapped my friends' kids presents a couple of weeks ago. Going to do the rest slowly but surely over the next few weeks.

DM and DDad were a bit Hmm about me asking what they wanted for Christmas about 6 weeks ago - DDad admitted yesterday I may have had the right idea!

Lots of people on the bargain thread mentioning big queues in RL shops that will be closing from Thursday.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2020 16:07

The problem is that nobody trusts that we'll open again on 2nd Dec. So, in theory, some shops may not open again beforehand! And without an online presence, such as Primark, people think this is their last chance to get some stuff!

Evening everyone. Just arrived home from fun day of courses. My eyes are stinging from looking at the computer all day wouldn't moan if it was Mumsnet though Grin More courses tomorrow followed by displays/sorting out of the classroom. Kind of even looking forward to the kids coming back on Wednesday. Think tomorrow will head out to the shops to get some more sf as not sure they will even open up in December. Will probably get some last minute cards too and Christmas meat just so I know I have it in.

Would so love a Christmas cupboard 70 will have to turf out some rubbish to possibly make way for one.

Love the idea of Christmas bedding on all year Boots think my kids would love it also, they never want to take it off in Jan. Boots just for you

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/11/2020 16:55

I went to Primark last week for something my daughter wanted, because I think it will sell out, not for lockdown but it works both ways.

MarshmallowManiac · 02/11/2020 16:57

Sounds like a fab day Crazy [santa]

Not to self must buy Christmas candle, any recommendations Wreck

Thanks Neros hope you have a good week too and that your cases have gone down. Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 02/11/2020 17:51

Just checked for delivery and Sainsburys are booked up all week, and Tesco are fully booked for 3 weeks. Knew this would happen. My friend went into town today and she said it was rammed!

WreckTangled · 02/11/2020 18:10

I really need to go to primark and tiger but obviously no chance before Thursday.

Went to see my grandparents they gave me a cheque will will halve my credit card bill. They're the best.

Marshmallow I got one from Tesco which is shit and doesn't smell nice. I like the ones in dunelm.

Anyone know if banks will be open after Thursday? Google isn't helping.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2020 18:22

I went to the bank during last lockdown, Wreck. They had short hours though.

That's nice of your grandparents. Smile

OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 02/11/2020 18:25

Thanks Wreck will stay away from Tesco then, will try and get into Dunelm before Thursday. Also want to head to Primark in town for some sf.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2020 18:41

It is. It's a shame the nearest bank is 20 miles away though. I don't know why they won't let you pay cheques in on the app like other banks.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2020 19:21

There's a limit of a couple of hundred for many app-paid in cheques, so if your cheque is bigger than that you'd have to go in anyway.

Do you have a paying in slip? If so you can go to the post office to pay it in.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 02/11/2020 19:31

Ah ok I didn't realise that. No I don't have a paying in slip annoyingly, I'll have to take my chances on Friday. At least town will be quiet...

FireflyGirl · 02/11/2020 21:19

I'm sure I read that the banks are staying open, Wreck.

How lovely of your grandparents, gives you a bit of breathing room, especially at this time of year!

I would love to go for a browse in Primark - could do with some cheap tights in a bigger size to go over my c-section wound, and I also wanted to get DH some new Xmas lounge pantspants but I've now ordered them from Boohoo as they had 30% off and I'll cope without the tights!

MarshmallowManiac · 02/11/2020 21:38

Your grandparents sound very special Wreck

pussycatinboots · 03/11/2020 06:19

Wreck The banks will be open. Their hours may change and they'll have fewer staff - check online before you go. There will be a queue. They'll probably get you to use the paying in machine (they wipe the keypad after use) - can you tell DH went? (twice) as we were shuffling money from one bank to another to pay some bills he didn't trust doing it online Hmm🤦🏻‍♀️
I've put my foot down and we do it online now Halo Grin

WreckTangled · 03/11/2020 06:38

Ok hopefully they'll open Friday. They've closed all the local branches it's such a pain.

We had such heavy rain/hail this morning it woke us all up and the dc ended up in bed with us as they were scared. Tired now. I'm in the office today although there's not much point as I've got a teams meeting and that's it.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/11/2020 06:40

Morning!

It was monsoon season last night, it seems. The wind and rain were hideous! The wind had dropped now, but it's set to rain for most of the day. It finally looks OK from tomorrow.

I detest Primark generally; they're always so muddled and crowded. My head actually can't cope in there, especially as they're also too hot!

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 03/11/2020 08:20

Morning.

Dd woke up at 2am having to go to the toilet. It took her until 5 to get back to sleep. No way am I able to stay up for the election tonight.

I love primark. I tend to go once every 4 months or so on a Wednesday morning when they're putting out the new stock. This will be the first time in years I won't have a tacky primark Christmas jumper.

CrazyBaubles · 03/11/2020 09:06

Morning. Back to work for me today (from home still) after a few days off.

Wreck how lovely of your grandparents to give you a cheque.
All bank branches stayed open here but they have short hours (my tiny local one is 10-2).

Fluffy I'm with you, I don't really go to Primark unless I'm in Cardiff with my bf - it's her nearest one so it's a bit of a routine now that we go there and she stocks up on underwear and random T-shirt's.

Awful sleep here too (cramps) but I had such a nice day yesterday that I don't mind. After hoovering and doing some general tidying, I rewarded myself by watching 2 rubbish Netflix Christmas films, checking my present stash (and having a panic because I couldn't find the presents I'd made for an hour or so), ordered more presents, made a to-do list, an 'I want to try and cook this' list and had a think about what I may want for Christmas Xmas Smile
