Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

It's Tromsø in Norway. It's freak weather for October as they don't usually get snow this early but it's been snowing for days there, and apparently tonight would be good for the northern lights too. It would have been a perfect break away - we had a secluded cabin booked about 2 hours away from the city so it would have been like an early mini Christmas (for me anyway)

The tree is only about 8 inches tall - so much work for something so small! It was supposed to be a trial run to learn how to make one as I want to make a much taller one for myself but DH suggested giving this one to MIL so I had to decorate it.

Love the GH Wreck

The photos look fabulous Crazy

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/10/2020 06:16

I'm sorry about your cancelled holiday crazy :(

I am really struggling with this lockdown and the weather here in Wales. It is so much harder than the spring when the weather was glorious. We have good waterproofs and go out for a walk everyday but being able to get the paddling pool out and just spend hours in the garden in the lockdown made such a difference. We could also go on really walks whereas in the torrential rain we struggle to manage over an hour.

WreckTangled · 31/10/2020 06:41

Ah crazy it would have been amazing. The snow like that is just so magical I would love to do something like that again one day. Maybe when the dc are grown up. I hope you can rebook for next year.

Reading the headlines of a national lockdown what do we think? Surely not? I really want to go to the garden centre in a few weeks to look at the Christmas decorations. Surely it's people mixing socially and in houses that needs to be banned? Not people going for a cake in the local cafe ffs.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/10/2020 06:44

If there is a lockdown I think it will be so much harder on people this time. I have found lockdown in bad weather unbearable.

WreckTangled · 31/10/2020 06:51

I'm pleased I saw my parents yesterday and other parents the previous weekend. I still haven't seen my grandparents. They want to see us but I'm so worried about passing something on to them.

Morning!

Crazy, I really want to go to Scandinavia. We love Iceland, so really want to go to Norway etc. I'm gutted for you re the Northern Lights too. Next year!

Wreck, I was reading two Daily Mail (I know!) articles last night and apparently if the government had acted earlier, when first advised, it would've only needed to be a two week lockdown, but because they didn't follow advice, it would need to be 4 weeks. And, also, it's already too late to really have much effect, but it's the only way to 'save Christmas'.

So, I've a feeling it will happen. They're saying tier 3 isn't working (so the mixing in households not being allowed etc), hence the whole lot needing shutting. I'm on the fence about that as our numbers are coming down, though apparently not fast enough.

It's depressing, isn't it? I've a feeling if he announces on Monday, it'll start on my birthday. Sigh.

I hope they don't ban sales of non-essentials like they did in Wales as that would scupper Double Up somewhat!

Anyway, it's shit weather here today, but we are off out for lunch. Yay!

Please may I join you all? I've got my Christmas GH magazine Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2020 07:00

Wreck, it's for your grandparents to decide if they want to take the risk. My parents' attitude is that they want to see us and don't care if they catch something! They just want to live a normal life.

So, if they want to see you, I'd go.

Oh, apparently it would start on Weds. Happy lockdown birthday to me! 🎂 🥂

Morning.

Im really struggling this time too most. Previously I was in an extended bubble (against rules) with mum and sister as they weren't seeing anyone else at all so we were as safe as we could be.
This time dm is terrified of passing it to me or dsis (because of niece and nephews) as she was working so she's refusing to see us.

The numbers here are quite scary (our county increased from 154 to 248 cases per 100,000 in 3 days) and the weather means we are literally indoors for at least 21 hours per day.

I think a national lockdown will come in purely so it's easier to police than the tiers.
I noticed here that when local lockdowns came in, people thought it couldn't be too bad if the county next door wasn't locked down so didn't pay much attention but now it's country wide people are taking it more seriously.

Fluffy we've done a few parts of Norway (google pics of Olden, it's beautiful) but this would be so far north that they get polar bears!
We're lucky as we've seen the northern lights before but they weren't that strong and I really want to see them properly.

Plan for today is to hoover the whole house, clean bathroom, walk the dog (in the rain), pick up a pizza, come back and eat it while watching the rugby

WreckTangled · 31/10/2020 08:59

Portsmouth has 200/100k and is still tier 1!

I've text my grandad to see if we can go and see them.

Have got two presents for the dc on amazon lightning deals both things I had in my basket. Still waiting for two nerf guns and the instax camera to drop. Not convinced the camera will but hoping the guns will.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2020 09:22

It might on Black Friday / Cyber Monday, Wreck.

I'm glad you're hopefully seeing your grandparents. How old are they?

NerosFiddle · 31/10/2020 09:31

Morning.

We've noticed a big drop in cases since lockdown. We're still high 480/100k but we were over 1000 per 100k a couple of weeks ago.

It's going to go back up though when schools start on Monday again.

I wanted them to keep us on a lockdown till the end of November so numbers would go low again and we could have a decent Christmas.

Anyway it's Ds birthday today and I have a massive cake to collect for him.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2020 09:33

Ah, happy birthday to your DS, Neros.

Ummm late 70's? My grandad might even be early 80's but you wouldn't think it. They're awesome.

I'm hoping so, unfortunately ds' birthday is the end of November so won't be able to wait until Black Friday to order one of them.

WreckTangled · 31/10/2020 09:35

Ah neros hope he has a lovely day!

pussycatinboots · 31/10/2020 09:50

Happy Birthday Neros DS 🎈🎁🍭🎂🐱‍🐉

fluffy it will be a memorable birthday then, for different reasons.

It's absolutely chucking it down here. I need to go to the wheelie bin, but don't want to get blown away or drown. If I wait long enough, the bin might get a bit closer...it's on the move already.😂

CrazyBaubles · 31/10/2020 09:51

Happy Birthday to your DS Neros 🥳

I think the hope of the lockdown here is that we'll see the numbers drop mid-end of November and allow Christmas to be ok. No idea if that'll work though.

The rain is absolutely abysmal here and due to stay this way all day

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/10/2020 09:58

Happy birthday Nero DS!

Another beautiful day here in South Wales GrinHmmSad

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2020 10:06

Boots, I just went down to the greenhouse. I'm wet now!

Bloody DH hadn't moved lemon tree 2 (the one with no fruit which isn't in the greenhouse yet) as I asked him to. And it had blown over. Again. (Probably as he'd left it in the middle of the bloody lawn, exposed on all sides.) So I also had to move that to a more sheltered spot.

Crazy, if we lockdown and still don't get some form of mixed-households Christmas, I think there'll be a riot!

Happy Birthday NeroDS

Started off nice here , then the rain

I braved Sainsbury today .......and it was quite quiet !
I'm planning ti sit with my GH magazine and make some random lists .
Still debating on when to make the Christmas Cake ( I was debating if I was going to do one at all, but I think yes, I will )

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 31/10/2020 16:03

Hi, I have just woken after night shift. I don't know what the weather situation is but I am very hungry. Shower and food time I reckon ready for round two tonight. I have had a quick present tally in my head and I am doing very well. My plan is to have all presents wrapped before my mammoth annual leave at the end of November. (Unlikely to happen but you never know).

WreckTangled · 31/10/2020 16:09

Weathers been awful here. Dd too has been awful. Apparently the supermarkets are awful too. Ffs. It's all crap.
