Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Just home from work (yes I was late) spent the day wandering about looking after a disassociated woman. Bless her she woke up this morning with no recollection of the last four days with me peering down seeing if she was alright. What a start to the day for her.

Morning! My bladder woke me up. Sigh. 🙄

It's really windy out, which bodes well for the washing that's outside! I'll get it in when we get up as it's set to rain at about 9.

Wreck, how's your trip? Is it the Tower today?

At least your patient had you, Why. Must be odd to suddenly lose your memory!

I was meant to be allotmenting today. But I'm not going if the forecast is still appalling!

And in exciting news: the clocks go back tonight! Whoop!

pussycatinboots · 24/10/2020 07:09

Morning
I think the combo of rain and wind is enough to stop you going to the allotment, fluffy. It does look pretty bad.
Someone woke me up at 4am heading home from the party that kept me awake until after 12. Nice to see Tier 2 having a positive impact locally.🤦🏻‍♀️
I can see some advantages to losing a small chunk of memory...
Wreck Enjoy being taken up the Tower. 🤭😇

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2020 07:18

I think the 'Take me up the North Mountain!' line in Frozen is hilarious! 😂

I think people are mostly complying round here, but our demographics tip towards an older population. I imagine it's not as tame closer to the town centre where the younger population of the town live!

Yeah. I'd be flattened and soaked, Boots. Not the best combination! I think we'll sort the under stairs cupboard and the Brexit stash tinned goods overflow today. The excitement!

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 24/10/2020 07:47

I need to do some stock rotation of tins and jars later - must dig out DH hard hat after last time 🤕😂
And I need to move some stuff around in the garage to give me easier access to the 🎄
Thanks for the idea 😁

WreckTangled · 24/10/2020 08:02

Why what a sad situation.

Fluffy yes it's today.

Boots can't beat the time DH took me up the shard ShockGrin

I didn't sleep well, creaky floors and traffic 😴 the dc slept well though. I got them a decoration each from Liberty London, came to less than £10.

Breakfast is in the room apparently but we didn't get asked what we want so just waiting...

So...tower of London, then the real Greek for lunch (we don't have any where we live!), Waterstones in Piccadilly Circus not sure what else.

Also I got an email from school asking me to fill in an absence request form for yesterday which seems pointless as I'm not asking for it to be authorised.

CrazyBaubles · 24/10/2020 10:15

Morning. Just catching up while DH makes bacon sandwiches.

No such luck with pans or chopping boards puss - the 'non essential' aisles were cordoned off!
Now I've had more chance to think about that I've decided it's a stupid idea that will hopefully be undone soon.

Fluffy DH is so predictable. He brought home stuff to make nachos, a pack of cookies, hot dogs stuff for the rugby tonight and a takeaway curry 🙄

why I think your job can probably seem a bit thankless but where would your patient have been without you?

Wreck DH asked about taking me away for a weekend in London a long time ago and said "and while we're there I could take you up the oxo tower, I think you'd like it" 😂 I laughed so much he was offended for a minute before it clicked.
Never did go to London for a weekend....

I have to say, I feel lazy when reading this thread as I don't have a great deal to do today. DH will hoover, I'll mop. I think I'm going to bath the dog & clean the bathroom. Aside from a load of laundry, nothing else is needed so it'll be a day of reading / tv / crafting. I may even skip the dog walk (DH will take him) as I've been taking him twice a day for a week and I think my ankle is on the verge of playing up again.

CrazyBaubles · 24/10/2020 10:19

Also, I was hoping for some opinions / help on my present idea for my nieces - they're 7 and 10.
As I want to buy from small businesses where possible I was thinking of doing a gift box each with:
Scrunchies / hair clips
Reading Book
Some sort of craft kit
A bracelet
Bath bomb

What do you think? Any other ideas on what to put in? The eldest is very into princesses / unicorns / mermaids and dressing up. Youngest does dance and gymnastics and loves glitter and Scooby doo.

CrazyBaubles · 24/10/2020 10:20

Ooh and @NoWordForFluffy, Tesco are doing half price photo calendars according to the email I had this morning. I'm going to sort mine this weekend (I'm doing them for DSis, dm and MIL)

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2020 10:42

How much are they, Crazy? I got a Colorland offer on Groupon, so check there first.

What's the budget for the girls, and how big is the box?

My DH is a predictable chap too! What time did the restrictions start? There's a thread in AIBU about it! Seems bloody daft, given that some things deemed non-essential are actually quite essential at times. Weird decision!

I've got choc chip brioche going in the bread maker. Time will tell how that goes! I had to add extra butter and the choc chips after 55 minutes. It wasn't as satisfying as when the machine adds stuff for you! 😂

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 24/10/2020 11:01

I'll have a look at the offer now, thanks Fluffy

Budget is £20 ish and I haven't bought the boxes yet so figured I'll get the stuff first and sort the boxes when I know what size is needed.

My aim is to have roughly the same things in them but different versions so they don't fight they aren't treated as though they are the same person.

Restrictions started at 6pm yesterday.
I thought non essentials would just be clothes but it's stationary, birthday cards, homeware, everything which just seems like madness now people are spending almost all their time at home.

NerosFiddle · 24/10/2020 13:00

Fluffy if there's a jar going spare I'll certainly take it.

Seriously windy here. Great drying weather

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2020 13:04

Do you want a chilli jam too?

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 24/10/2020 13:12

Yes please.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/10/2020 18:46

You have been productive Fluffy Shock

All a bit strange here. My recent tests at hospital have thrown up stuff that requires more investigation so more than ever I'm grateful for being organised. I'll be starting my third pre-op self isolation at the start of next month so I think I'll use the time to wrap presents.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2020 18:58

Oh goodness, Woolly. I hope everything is OK. Flowers You're at least proving that the NHS is still going during the pandemic!

Our cupboards are now very neat and tidy. How I like them!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 24/10/2020 20:39

Oh dear woolly, I hope it's nothing too serious. When is the next op / how long do you have to isolate for?

Very organised Fluffy (as always)!

We've had a very lazy day. Lots of tv, some (but not much) cross stitch and now watching the rugby.

WreckTangled · 24/10/2020 20:44

Hope your ok woolly

We just got home almost an hour late. The train left on time then got stuck because of signalling problems and then they kicked us off one stop before ours Angry so we had to wait 15 mins outside. Luckily it was under cover as it's chucking it down with gales. Have just submitted my claim for a partial refund should get 50% back.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/10/2020 21:09

You've ended up with a bargainous trip Wreck but boo to having a broken journey.

How is the cross stitch going Crazy?

I'm waiting for a camera up my hoo-ha 😂 plus some odd blood test results mean they want to look at my pituitary gland via MRI. The amount of time I've spent in my own company these last 4 months it's a good job I can amuse myself. At least now it's only self isolation after the Covid test plus a week after - the first op was 2 weeks before and a week after.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2020 21:12

Crazy, would the girls be allowed fake tattoos?

How about some sweets? Cute stationery? (Have you seen this shop? It's ace for cute bits. Fluffy socks?

Wreck, what was breakfast in the end?!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 24/10/2020 21:15

Oh my goodness Fluffy that site is cute. My little niece and great niece would adore most of the stuff on there.

WreckTangled · 24/10/2020 21:21

Fluffy it's the photo of dd on the floor with a tray in front of her. We got two trays, it was continental so not great but there was Nutella so the dc were pleased as they would never get that at home!

Woolly that doesn't sound fun! They do sound very proactive though which is good.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/10/2020 21:29

Oh Woolly hope there's sedation on offer ! ( I had a colonoscopy last year and after the Prep and the sedation, I didn't care where they put the camera !)

I've told my DC that I want a list from each of them about ideas for Christmas .
TV programmes , what they want to eat ( I am fine with cooking but I want ideas ) on other days , if there's anywhere they want to go ( Restrictions permitting ) .

I'm going to start DD Beauty Advent Calender , I have some things , not 24 yet , but I can start .Then I know what gap to fill .

I've got her a robe , 3 pairs of Winter PJs and a Socks Advent

DS has PJs , loungwear , underwear .

I want to get it all sorted by early December >

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2020 21:54

It's adorable, isn't it, Woolly?!

It looks like quite a large breakfast, Wreck. I think my two would've managed to eat enough to stop them whining for the normal amount of time after breakfast! 😂😂

70, I'm done! Other than 2 Amazon gift cards. I'm pleased with myself!

CrazyBaubles · 25/10/2020 00:00

🎄 61 🎄

Cross stitch is slow going here Woolly -- because I abandoned it for 2 weeks.

Camera in the hooha sounds ☹️ but fingers crossed everything is ok 🤞🏼

Fluffy I don't think nieces are allowed temp tattoos but that website is full of stuff they'd love so I'm going to have a proper browse tomorrow, thank you!

I'm just off to bed. Rugby was rubbish but I did enjoy having it back and to celebrate DH has beer and I had rum 🥂
Didnt have much but I'm suddenly very sleepy 😂

Also, great news (for me) - my lovely df messaged me to say he's found a ceramic Christmas tree similar to the one he and dm own (which I love and try to steal offer to rehome every year 😂) so he's bought it for me as an early Christmas present. I'm so so happy!
