Has anyone seen any Christmas magazines out yet? GH get ahead for Christmas is usually out in August but I haven't seen it yet.

I do have a lot of Christmas magazines that I've collected over the years so probably don't actually need anymore.

I haven't seen any but I haven't looked TBH .
They harbour such promise don't they Xmas Grin

I had last years Woman&Home down the side of my bed last month , DH was Xmas Hmm at me reading it in July !

Last year , I was looking for my cars MOT , I found that magazine we were all searching for - it had a star shaped biscuit on the front , maybe Good Housekeeping Get Ahead For Christmas ?

I know the Good Housekeeping Christmas /December issue is usually out around Guy Fawkes .

NerosFiddle · 21/08/2020 18:59

70 that was the ahead gh one. I know because the cookie cutters keep getting jammed in the drawer.

I think the magazines might be slower to come out and less fabulous this year, but if you have the Readly app (or get a free trial) then it’s lovely to look at all the old December issues of the interiors magazines. The only Christmas 2020 new stuff I’ve seen is from searching “Emma Bridgewater Christmas 2020 trade catalogue”. I’ve not found any other new Christmas stuff yet and I’m pretty keen on escapism at the moment!

OrangeCinnamon1 · 22/08/2020 09:09

I have not seen any yet. If Countryliving recycle their articles again this year Im going to be really hacked off.

Rowanberries · 22/08/2020 09:15

Oh yes OrangeCinnamon1 Country Living reusing articles really annoyed me. It's usually one of my favourites for getting in the Christmas mood.

I have years and years of old Christmas magazines but still love getting a new one. Dh just looks at me like this Hmm

Piccalino3 · 22/08/2020 12:16

I started looking in WHSmith the other day and nothing. Going to try M&S next week as that's where I found my first one last year! I love that others are as excited as me already!!

TheGirlWhoLived · 26/08/2020 09:20

Tried m and s earlier this week and nothing! Keeping my eyes peeled though

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 26/08/2020 09:54

Oh I love a Christmas magazine. I was very excited the other day when the cox&cox catalogue dropped through my door and they had christmas stuff at the back. Have also seen the emma bridgewater trade catalogue with christmas designs.
I'm going into whsmiths this afternoon so will have a look but yes I do think they will be a little different this year. "How to make christmas special in the midst of a pandemic that is likely to see lockdowns by December". Ooo it gives you a fuzzy feeling doesnt it?

SummerHouse · 26/08/2020 09:58

I didn't even know Christmas magazines were a thing! In my ignorance the Christmas radio times has been my favourite magazine of the year. Now a new world has opened up. Smile

NerosFiddle · 26/08/2020 10:44

@SummerHouse welcome to the dark side Grin.

I still haven't seen any out yet.

They are usually the house type magazines, House and Garden, Ideal Home, etc and other mags like Prima do Christmas Specials in addition to the monthly editions, also food mags do Christmas recipes.

It’s a shame, but last year I was disappointed and didn’t buy many because they didn’t present anything that I hadn’t seen before, and even the decorations were a bit same as last year.

I do think there will be a limited market for dressing up to the nines and catering a Christmas lunch for 20 this year.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/08/2020 16:50

Yes they are a bit samey though, I used to keep my old ones until I thought "Why am I doing this" ..............but they didn't change much year on year .
Always a glamourous long haired woman , beautifully dressed , very nice house with a staircase covered in ivy .
Decorations under the tree ,
Two little girls in party frocks making mincemeat pies
A dog
And snow

Welll that mirrors my life exactly (not)

Summerhouse for us it's the Christmas TV Times and 4 highlighter pens Xmas Grin

Grin quite right.

I did enjoy 'Mindful Christmas' lsst year (or the year before can't remember) as a nice change. Perhaps this year we might have articles on Christmas Loungewear and how to celebrate with relatives at a social distance?

TailEndCharlie · 26/08/2020 18:37

Love a Christmas magazine too... even requested a F&M xmas catalogue from their website because I am in need of some get ahead excitement. I fear though the usual early xmas magazines will be delayed due to everything but am rather hopeful it is because they cant recycle articles in the current climate!! Shared festive fondues with 30 guests anyone?!? More like how to pass around canapes with hand sanitiser...

just5morepeas · 26/08/2020 23:03

I always say I'm never going to buy Xmas mags again but always end up buying all of them. They always put me in a festive mood.

mbosnz · 27/08/2020 12:02

Oooh, thanks for the heads up about the F&M catalogue, just went and ordered one! (I do like me a little bit of F&M, lol.)

NerosFiddle · 27/08/2020 18:31

Can I ask how you ordered the f&m catalogue? I don't see it on their website but I know I've got it before.

Found one! Not out until 25th September though www.buysubscriptions.com/special-editions/simply-christmas-2020

mbosnz · 28/08/2020 10:29

I managed to pierce my eye with a Christmas magazine the year before last. They can be lethal little buggers. I was surprised the doctor hadn't seen more Christmas magazine related injuries. . .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2020 13:56

Ouch ! Xmas Shock

Have you had any other injuries from Leisure Periodcals or is it just the Christmas edition that is lethal?

I know people on here drool over the Booths book and scorn at us unucky Southerners who cannot get delivery or live near a store .
You can request an eBook when they're released .

mbosnz · 28/08/2020 15:01

Nope, it's just the Christmas editions. I somewhat unfortunately tipped a pile of them that I was reaching up into the closet for, down over me, and it was a spectacularly lethal set of glass charms that was attached as a freebie that went straight for me eye. . .

Oooh, the Booths book, what is that?!

mbosnz · 28/08/2020 15:02

Oh wow, that looks fantastic! Just went and googled. Thank you! Grin

mbosnz · 28/08/2020 15:08

Oh damn! I'm a Southerner!

NerosFiddle · 28/08/2020 16:19

70 I got my sil to send me a physical copy last year. It was beautiful

OP posts:
TheGirlWhoLived · 28/08/2020 18:39

I wonder if the Christmas magazine with the charms (I think it was the originally titled “The Christmas Magazine” iirc) was just particularly nasty? I sliced my thumb open trying to get the glass charms out! They were pretty for that year though 😁
