Sylvanian families red roof country house £17.50 down from £70

Someaddedsugar · 20/07/2020 14:35

Make sure to double check any Playmobil prices on Amazon if shopping on brand alley as they appear to be price matching today but you get the free postage.

Zara do lovely but cost friendly baby clothes @sunshinewhereareyou

@SodOffCovid

Question... If you buy someone a present in the sale, do you buy them more, or are you happy spending less than 'usual'. So, if you brought something for £25 now would you spend another £25 to make it up, or reap the saving yourself iyswim. I always feel abit guilty buying 'cheap' presents despite having half my Christmas shop done already and saving a tonne
I’m the same as @PowerslidePanda - I go by the RRP because it takes me much longer to make savings on purchases than it does just paying full price for things. I figure my time is worth money too.
woodpigeons · 20/07/2020 16:34

Is anyone having problems with Accessorize?
I’ve got 8 items in my bag but when I try to checkout it says my bag is empty.
Very annoying after spending ages choosing presents.

FireflyGirl · 20/07/2020 16:46

@woodpigeons did it auto enter your details? I had the same issue, so I went through and typed them all in individually and it went through. Issue seems to be if there's an extra space in a box (eg it autofills your mobile number, but puts a space afterwards).

Fubbs · 20/07/2020 16:46

I had that problem, filled my bag and checked out (probably quicker!) and it went through.

Fubbs · 20/07/2020 16:47

Should have said, REfilled my bag and checked out again!!

Magicismagic · 20/07/2020 16:53

I tend to work to a budget and if I get something reduced I may buy a little extra thing that compliments the “main gift” but more often I will try and get a nicer version for the reduced price. So budget for a scarf £20 for my mum, I could get a £20 one reduced to £10 and buy a little extra thing but more likely to buy a £40 nicer scarf reduced to £20.

woodpigeons · 20/07/2020 16:59

Thanks everyone. Good to know it isn’t just me.
I didn’t get as far as entering my details so will try to refill my bag and try again.
Problem is I put everything in a wish list so I didn’t lose it and now can’t access wish list.
Plus it now won’t even let me login.

@sunshinewhereareyou

Does anyone have any advice on nice go-to places for baby clothes? My niece turns one in October so need something for then as well Christmas.

SIL likes "naice" brands - so I want something impressive but not expensive as money is tight.

Baby is 1 but a chubs (91st percentile on weight but 0.4th percentile on height)

If you sign up for brand alley they have some nice kids brands come up fairly regularly eg petit bateau.

Alternatively check out Hatley www.hatley.com
I rate their pjs, rain stuff and swimwear. Their sale stuff is usually good value and they have lovely stuff like colour changing rain coats. They've got sale stuff at moment and if you sign up for their emails then you'll get their other offers. You have to pay postage but is about £4 despite being sent Fedex from Canada or is free if you spend over £50

sunshinewhereareyou · 20/07/2020 17:13

@woodpigeons it was sketchy with me too, wouldn't let me go to the payment part but it worked when I refreshed it!

woodpigeons · 20/07/2020 17:20

Well I did it.
Managed to get as far as logging in and it said I was an unregistered user so requested a new password, got one and then was taken to Monsoon.
I managed to retrieve my wishlist and found a very nice sale top for myself.
So win win.
Thanks everyone.

@sunshinewhereareyou Have a look at Frugi/Kite/Pigeon Organics/Duns. I know Frugi have a sale on now so you could look on their website directly, they may also have some left in the clearance section of Next. Babipur have a big clothing sale on too and so do some of the indies like Ele and Me, Simply So Lovely and The Thrifty Stork.
If your niece is walking I can really recommend the Frugi snuggle suits as they’re great for winter.

Glitterandmud · 20/07/2020 20:47

Thank you to the poster who mentioned the Harry Potter lego on Amazon got the bus for DDs Chtistmas, just to find something for ds now.

Has anyone any ideas for a 12 & 10 year old boys? I don't really know them as live abroad, both pretty spoiled (seem to have everything)... budget would be about £15 each but hoping for something bargainous.

My contribution to the thread, aldi have their Crane soft archery sets online just now, £19.99 pre-order, looks fun!

danuta22 · 20/07/2020 22:03

I had problems with accessorize website too, deleted cookies, and then it went through fine

MrsLem · 20/07/2020 22:52

Thanks everyone, got the leapfrog rocket. Also got frugi sales. I bought matching pencil case, bottle and lunchbox for nephews- quite pleased with that idea!

Love frugi children's clothes. I also buy a lot of Smafolk which is a Danish company. If you got to the Danish homesite (you can use it in English) it works out cheaper to buy than in the U.K. stores. I love the mystery bags they do occasionally but I know others on here have found them hit or miss. Duns Sweden's Swedish site is also cheaper.

I found an online shop called Hema today, I hadn't heard of it before so don't know if it just hasn't reached up here. Quite like tiger tiger and loads of lovely bits in the sale. Order hasn't arrived yet but I'm hopeful it's good.

Rebelwithallthecause · 20/07/2020 23:10

Thanks for the tip about Duns Sweden and Smafolk 👌🏻

northprincess · 20/07/2020 23:15

Wow I'm following lots of great ideas here

sorryiasked · 21/07/2020 06:29

@MrsLem HEMA is great, I often order online bit it's a treat when I go (rarely) to London to dash into the shop in Victoria station

Likeabad90sdisco · 21/07/2020 12:54

So disappointed I missed out on the sylvanian families house from argos. They don't seem to have any more Sad

Shitfuckoh · 21/07/2020 14:04

@Likeabad90sdisco keep an eye on Amazon, they price matched the other day, sold out but this morning it was back down to £17.50 so well worth keeping an eye out just incase

SodOffCovid · 21/07/2020 14:16

I actually braved the shops today and still ended up in accessorize and brought more than the order I just placed 😂 stupid really as I had 10% online as a new customer but there was way more in store and it was much easier to pick up and see things. I've also had a nosey at what I've ordered and am dead chuffed Grin. I also picked up some stocking fillers in town for my two year old, like a kaleidoscope for £1 and a bell musical instrument for my will be 1 year old for £1.50. Must say I'm thoroughly enjoying shopping so early as I feel like I'm taking the inevitable stress away this winter, spreading the cost, and giving me a reason to think about something else during covid! I have a playmobil set coming from amazon next week, a fire engine with full ladder and sounds, it was in the warehouse section marked as 'dented box' but was £18 off!! I expect we will build it for Christmas morning anyway so for £30 it was a steal I hope....

PinkDaydreams · 21/07/2020 14:23

@SodOffCovid May I ask where you got the bell musical instrument from please and the kaleidoscope? I’m looking for stocking fillers!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 21/07/2020 14:55

Joining here! I've bought some lol pets reduced from Argos.

Looking for ideas for dd1 - going to be 12 in November. Not girly at all, a bit geeky loves collecting funko mini figures, her favourite clothes are a bonkers adventure time printed skirt and Harley Quinn jacket!

Also on the lookout for descendants stuff for dd2, shes obsessed but I am not prepared to pay the crazy ebay prices for costumes when they are reduced to £16 in the disney store (I don't live near a store and not in stock online) will consider anything descendants themed!!
