Sorry, not caught up at all with last thread because of a germy family. I’m figuring this will be the thread with Christmas on though!

No links etc because I’m figuring you know it all now and we’re so nearly there!

Happy Christmas everyone 🎄☃️❄️🎅🏻

@EvilHerbivore Amazon gave some if you've got prime - search "Christmas stocking hooks"
Otherwise maybe the garden centre?

TheGirlWhoLived · 23/12/2019 21:16

So now the end is nigh- does anybody fancy a “which bargains did you buy/succumb to because of this thread/which items you got bargains on?”. I would have missed an awful lot of bargains if not for y’all
I’ll go...

Exploding kittens
Hair chalk
Sprocket
Cubby the bear
2 x highland hamper Angry
Claire’s code
Hearst magazine good housekeeping free £10 from marks
Luvabella
Harry Potter scrabble
Wolsley jacket
Book people code, way before they went into admin
Gillette razor
M and s code Flowers
Yankee candle set way back when

Look at the money you’ve saved me!
Think that’s about a whole Xmas worth! Thus is my 7th year and this is STILL my favourite thread

To you and yours, have a wonderful one

lotusbell · 23/12/2019 21:19

I got the Lavazza milk thingie and love it! Not used my sheepskin insoles yet although you just have to look at the fluff around the house to know that I own some!

Spartonian · 23/12/2019 22:10

@MulberryPeony No, will be after Christmas now but DC never knew they had been ordered, so they won't actually know they are missing anything, which is good.

I cut my hand open on a faulty item that was delivered today and the company have just given me the run around.

No food shopping done yet at all, was meant to of gone tonight but car needs to be fixed first, it's a straightforward cheap job, just at the totally wrong time.

Still need to get the rest of the stocking fillers for the two I messed up on.

I just feel totally exhausted today

TreeLinedMotorway · 23/12/2019 22:31

@BlueSkyAtChristmas Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

CheekyFucker · 23/12/2019 22:40

@BlueSkyAtChristmas GrinWine

Utterly fucked off here. DH has a bastard dental abscess so I had to take all three kids to Tesco tonight (9pm) so he could try to get seen by OOH.

No fucking cranberry sauce I tell you!

moonbabyandthebeast · 23/12/2019 22:45

@EvilHerbivore they did have packs of 2 stocking hangers in b&q- only £6 per pack

Sixp · 23/12/2019 23:15

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. I’ve just stuck the marzipan on my cake - a little bit last minute, but I’m sure it’ll be fine! All I need to do is check the stocking situation tomorrow and pick up any tiny things required. Thanks so much for the thread Reastie. I went real life shopping today and there seemed to be a few sales on including Monsoon, Top Shop, H&M, Gap and M&S.

mammmamia · 23/12/2019 23:24

Probably being a total amateur here but I’ve never returned anything to amazon before and I never realised how expensive it is!!!

Gone a bit overboard and have a few gifts surplus, it’s costing me £3.99 to return each item, does that sound right?!

Itsigginingtolookalotlikexmas · 23/12/2019 23:59

Sitting up late to get the PNP videos done Smile

noodledoodler · 24/12/2019 00:14

Slightly early with the very merry christmas greetings to everyone but hope its a happy and enjoyable day for you all after the hard work that goes into it.
Top tips from a veteran here are, check what batteries are needed, locate all the mini star headed screwdrivers, open and charge new devices and consoles, (including doing the downloading of any software or sign up requirements), put scissors somewhere handy and have a few black bin bags ready for rubbish and recycling, also a few zip lock bags for instructions or small pieces are great, then, rebox any preloaded devices, screenshot ANY new password set ups done in the next coupla days, email them to yourself before deleting, breathe deeply and then have the best Christmas ever 🌺🌺🌺🎄🎄🎄

CoffeeAndEnnui · 24/12/2019 00:20

Teeny tiny contribution for anyone going shopping IRL tomorrow and passing John Lewis. Our local branch had Nutcracker music box cards by My Design Co. hidden away among a few lonely ordinary cards on a shelf in the Christmas department (not downstairs with the attention grabby things).

They are beautiful cards which make a fab alternative to cheapie chocs or whatever for people you usually spend under a tenner on. The cards usually retail for between £9.95 and £14 but were reduced to £7. The figure 'dances' around on the base of the card to the music from the ballet and children are always totally enchanted by the magic of it. We have collected many different designs over the years. Definitely worth a grab if you see any.

Aside from two tardy pairs of Vans (one 'express shipping' pair which apparently lost some of their speed in the 5 days it took to process the order and one custom pair which will probably be here when spring is sprung because I didn't read the small print...) I am done.

Thanks to this thread I could afford to gift:

Approximately half a million (well, twelve) initial jigsaws
Four Chilly's/Emma Bridgewater winter animal bottles
One Crosley Cruiser (which cost less than £18!!!)
MANY cheap and cheerful bits of advent jewellery
One Bloom & Wild Christmas tree
One Bloom & Wild trio of rose plants
Several bargainous Bomb Cosmetics crackers and advent calendars
Our very first Alexa (and two Dots very soon after, oops)
A LIFECHANGING Rapesco tape dispenser
One funky laundry bag
One All About Me book
Five Think You Know it All books
A pair of child binoculars
A little wooden Christmas tree
A very pretty coin purse
And a partridge in a pear tree

A purple LED watch thing has failed to arrive in time but it will be a handy gift for a late Jan birthday and it really couldn't matter less.

Big, big thanks to Reastie for this thread and to all who sale (get it?!) in her. A very merry Christmas to one and all. Enjoy the bargainsXmas Smile

CoffeeAndEnnui · 24/12/2019 00:22

Let's try that again...

vroc81 · 24/12/2019 06:33

@mammmamia I’ve only ever paid once on a return and it wasn’t that much.. have you done the online chat to amazon customer services they’re normally very good - say you want to send it all as one...

Thanks for the bargains everyone!!! Have a great Christmas!

Dreamqueen · 24/12/2019 07:20

Just done my final shop of 2019 in Sainsbury's. It was surprisingly quiet.

Thank you to everyone on here for some great bargains and codes.

Merry Christmas to all.

Spartonian · 24/12/2019 08:15

I'm still in a complete state of muddledness, going to write everything down so I can start ticking things off.

margaritasbythesea · 24/12/2019 09:01

Mammamia it depends what reason you select for the return from the drop down menu. Some you pay, some are free. They dont seem to question whzt you put as long as it's reasonable

margaritasbythesea · 24/12/2019 09:01

Sales online at Mónica Vinander and Missoma.

Tooner · 24/12/2019 09:16

Mammamia, I returned something to Amazon yesterday, i just requested a return and they sent me a QR code(is that what its called)
Took it to the local post office, they zapped the code and that was it. All free. I got an email soon after saying my refund had been processed. I was amazed at the efficiency of it all.

Thankyou to everybody for the fab ideas, links and lovely friendly chat. I have bought stuff I would never have thought of and stuff I would never have dreamed of buying plus lots of stuff I certainly don't need😀but it's been brilliant and much appreciated.

Now I'm off out to buy potatoes as Ive just realised I don't have enough. I might also get the urge to pop to Aldi near closing time just to see of they have any bargainous food reductions.

Merry Christmas everybody, hope you all have the most lovely day.

mammmamia · 24/12/2019 09:23

Thank you @margaritas and @vroc81 that’s very helpful

mammmamia · 24/12/2019 09:24

And @Tooner. Not sure what I’m doing wrong but I will try again!
