If you are getting a gift for your mum this year, what are you getting her?

OP posts:
ooooohbetty · 10/12/2019 22:11

I'm a mum in my 50's and I've asked my grown up children for cash.

Janus · 10/12/2019 22:13

Oh and I always send her flowers a few days before Christmas as she doesn’t ever buy some for herself but she loves flowers 🌷

Hadenoughofitall441 · 10/12/2019 22:14

Got her a personalised calendar, her fave Yankee candle which she could never find but has since found and brought 4 🤦🏼‍♀️ A pandora charm 😊

Joint present for parents- gramophone to play their old records. Plus hand cream, perfume, travel DVD and crossword book.

Crazypanda85 · 10/12/2019 22:22

Voucher for afternoon tea at a lovely posh place my mum likes, also got one for my sister so they can go together, and hopefully let me join them too!!

mamaduckbone · 10/12/2019 22:26

A phone - one of those Dora old lady flip phones with the big buttons - and some credit.
A photo calendar, bag from ds2's school with faces drawn on it, probably a little goodie bag with a book and other nice bits and pieces in it (but haven't done that yetConfused) and a framed photo of all her grandchildren.

MurrayTheMonk · 10/12/2019 22:30

A pedometer (her request) and a garden sculpture of three birds to go on her wall.

Thestrangestthing · 10/12/2019 22:35

She has asked for an opal ring from me and my brother but she's had a shit year and she is currently living with us so I got her a stocking so she has stuff to open with us in the morning. I got her chocolates, a cheap parfume (she doesn't wear many as she has allergies but this kind seems OK), lounge trousers and jumper, gloves, socks, slipper socks and a packet of frys peppermint creams because she was saying you can't get them now, but I found them. Just lots of little things I know she will use.

SallyWD · 10/12/2019 22:40

She asked for M and S vouchers.

Stravapalava · 10/12/2019 22:42

I got a bird box camera for my parents between them and a posh keyring with "Best grandma" and the DC's names on.

Stravapalava · 10/12/2019 22:42

MIL has asked for a new hand blender.

SusieSusieSoo · 10/12/2019 22:47

I pay for her subscription to Woman's Weekly (she's 82 but she's been reading it since her 20's), a new top, a tea towel designed by ds (same design as Christmas cards done via school) and some Christmas flowers if I ever get round to ordering them

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/12/2019 23:22

Just realised I am probably similar age to a lot of your Mums. (My previous post related to my Mum in her 80s) I would really appreciate a voucher for a facial or a massage; afternoon tea or anything food related! Nice bottle of gin, Prosecco or wine; plants/plant pots; interesting serving platters (I like entertaining); theatre/concert tickets; exotic food hampers; photos of my family; time with my family e.g. Homemade voucher for family day out when the weather's better etc)

And yes I know some people my age reading this wouldn't like my suggestions but you have to trust that the OP/ others looking for ideas would know their Mums well enough to know of they'd like any of the suggestions or simply ignore (still smarting from another thread!)

TheMShip · 11/12/2019 08:16
