If you are getting a gift for your mum this year, what are you getting her?

OP posts:

Mine asked for a new teapot and proper loose leaf tea.
I've also bought a calendar with different seeds to plant every month.

Previously I've bought her bits from Anthropologie.

Doing a joint present for mum and dad, they are getting a bird box with wireless camera and a voucher for their favourite lunch place.

Its also my mums 70th birthday on the 22nd , shes getting a locket with her birthstone in.

BikeRunSki · 10/12/2019 17:58

I just bought her a dishwasher for Christmas and birthday (January).

Elle7rose · 10/12/2019 18:03

My Mum is early 60s and I bought her:

  • A Boden cardigan (she's not that keen on surprises and really wanted it).
  • From Cath Kidston: a weekend bag, hand cream, shopping bag and bed socks.

I haven't bought anything for my Dad, siblings etc. yet though and think I overspent!

My Mum's always tricky to buy for as she doesn't eat sugary food, doesn't wear jewellery or makeup and doesn't like fancy toiletries. This year I ended up buying her a hedgehog house as she likes gardening and wildlife. Picked up some handcream, bubble bath and shower gel in a brand I'm pretty sure she uses, so she has a little something for her.

I'm doing my mum a Christmas stocking as she has never had one. I've got her a book she asked for. It's a signed copy. A Christmas brooch from etsy. A candle with her initial on it. A red and white pom pom garland, which I made and I'm going to get some fancy chocolates and a mini bottle of presseco to fill it up. My budget is £50.

A handbag, wine and PJ's

TartanHare · 10/12/2019 18:08

A fluffy dressing gown
A calender with wildlife paintings
A framed family photo
Chanel no5

Ohffs66 · 10/12/2019 18:09

Some CDs she wanted, socks, a candle and some mince pie fudge

winterplease · 10/12/2019 18:11

A nespresso coffee machine, and a necklace.

CheekyFucker · 10/12/2019 18:13

I have knitted her a Fair Isle hat and a personalised stocking filled with bits and bobs. I tend to make her things all year round, but this time it coincides with Christmas.

CheekyFucker · 10/12/2019 18:15

I meant to add my Mum is 76. Dad is 85 and also has a stocking.

Katieweasel · 10/12/2019 18:15

Buble tickets. Enough good daughter points to last me all next year Smile

Kenworthington · 10/12/2019 18:18

Mum is 80

Cashmere polo neck jumper. She’s always wanted one but won’t treat herself as it’s too expensive
Cashmere neck warmer
Calendar with our photos on it

newdeer · 10/12/2019 18:19

Three long sleeved tees from Next and a Wallis cardigan.

Holdingtherope · 10/12/2019 18:20

Jo malone perfumes, the 5 different ones so she can try them all (praying not too tiny)

Weekly flower delivery

lifeisgoodagain · 10/12/2019 18:20

A jumper, not original but I'm short on funds

PortiaCastis · 10/12/2019 18:22

Vouchers for hair nails and waxing she's 61 but still frequents the salon every week.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 10/12/2019 18:23

Cider Smile she’s got a small house & doesn’t need or want anything. She and her Dh both enjoy posh cider, so that’s what they’ve got.

OneTooManyBathtimes · 10/12/2019 18:26

An SD card for her tablet so she can stop complaining about having no space for terrible photos and files she downloads 50000 times.
Not that she'll know how to use it. I'll have to set everything up. She says she's very technophobic but I think she's just lazy.

Getting my step mum and dad a photo of the kids. DF complained we got the wrong sort of shaver a few years back, so it's back to basics. And we're tight on money

BlueEyedFloozy · 10/12/2019 18:41

We try not to buy material stuff for each other unless we actually need something so she and I have chipped in for a cheap weekend away for us :)

Orangesox · 10/12/2019 18:46

Liz Earle Skincare
A few pandora bits she’s asked for

Her birthday is less than a month after Christmas though so I’ll be getting her a perfume Gift set for that in the sales I would imagine

wheresmymojo · 10/12/2019 18:48

  • A couple of books I think she'll like signed by the authors
  • Season 9, Walking Dead DVD as she got addicted but didn't get to watch the last season
  • A framed photo of our wedding (she asked for one)
  • A large wooden rooster (made locally, she liked it last time she visited, will go in the garden)
  • A donation to Oxfam to help women entrepreneurs in Africa (her PhD thesis was on women entrepreneurs)

Quite random Grin

wheresmymojo · 10/12/2019 18:50

MIL actually gives us a list (we ask for one) so picked some items from there:

  • Jo Malone bath oil
  • Subscription to Hampshire Life magazine
  • Large bag of cashew nuts from local health store
  • Warner's rhubarb gin
  • A nice handmade blown glass oil jar for the kitchen we saw on holiday
Ffsnosexallowed · 10/12/2019 18:52

Lots of chocolate, socks and a book. She is a total Christmas grinch though. We're visiting for new year, so will bring over some stuff then too
