Christmas Present for awful SIL

BanKittenHeels · 02/12/2019 20:54

I hate my SIL, she hates me. I haven’t seen her in years, she has treated me appallingly in the past.
She will be at our family Christmas for the first time in 20 years, we have to get her Christmas present because she is the queen of petty and will get me one just go be seen go do so.

What the hell do you buy for someone you hate and have no clue as to their personal tastes?

Skipping getting her a present is not an option.

Chocolate

HavelockVetinari · 02/12/2019 20:56

One of those Oxfam gifts - a toilet or a pile of shite!

Queenest · 02/12/2019 20:58

Yes an ox fan goat or a cow

CoffeeBeansGalore · 02/12/2019 20:58

A nice photoframe with picture of her parents (presume your dh's dm & df?).

Queenest · 02/12/2019 20:58

Oxfam obvs

BanKittenHeels · 02/12/2019 20:58

My own sister thinks I should get her an Impulse gift set because technically she can’t complain. Grin

A large ugly vase from a discount store. But gush about how gorgeous it is.

(Warning: This backfired on me because when I did it, the recipient loved it and gave it pride of place!)

Cocolapew · 02/12/2019 20:59

A framed photo of you.

Queenest · 02/12/2019 21:00

I love the idea that she doesn’t actually get the gift as you river really want to buy one anyway do you. What can she say? Zilch.

EL2019 · 02/12/2019 21:00

Or ask her for a suggestion and get a knock-off version in the wrong colour/size/flavour

Alwayswithalacrity · 02/12/2019 21:00

How much are we spending?

BanKittenHeels · 02/12/2019 21:01

Say £15-20?
Ideally a tenner though.

You know the answer. Just get her a random boots 3 for 2. If it's your husbands sister get her nothing, it's his job.

Justmuddlingalong · 02/12/2019 21:04

A Bayliss and Harding gift set. The ideal passive aggressive present.

Anyonebut · 02/12/2019 21:05

Toilet air freshener...

AtillatheHun · 02/12/2019 21:06

B&H gift set is perfect (is there anyone who is genuinely excited / happy to get one of them?!)

Queenest · 02/12/2019 21:06

There’s a website called the inappropriate gift co.uk. Worth a look..

CherryBathBomb · 02/12/2019 21:08

'Sponsor a donkey'

Betterversionofme · 02/12/2019 21:08

Your husband's/wife's job. Just remind him/her.

kenandbarbie · 02/12/2019 21:08

I quite like Baylis And Harding gift sets Confused

BanKittenHeels · 02/12/2019 21:08

Oh god Baylis and Harding. I’d forgotten about that shite! Thank you.
I’m off to B&M first thing.

Bayliss and Harding gift set is a great shout!! Also get her a card that is covered in glitter, theres nothing more annoying

PorridgeAgainAbney · 02/12/2019 21:11

Don't get anything. You hate eachother so getting her something isn't going to change that and not getting her anything isn't going to change that. Why bother investing time, emotions and money in her?
Either that or tell your partner to deal with it. It's really not your problem.

heidbuttsupper · 02/12/2019 21:12

Lol @CherryBathBomb I did this for my old boss a few years ago. Was great Grin

cowfacemonkey · 02/12/2019 21:12

Yup bayliss and harding or random shite 3for2 gift set from Boots. Either will reek of indifference and minimum effort.
