Christmas Present for awful SIL

I hate my SIL, she hates me. I haven’t seen her in years, she has treated me appallingly in the past.
She will be at our family Christmas for the first time in 20 years, we have to get her Christmas present because she is the queen of petty and will get me one just go be seen go do so.

What the hell do you buy for someone you hate and have no clue as to their personal tastes?

Skipping getting her a present is not an option.

The problem with getting something really naff is that it will show her she bothers you so you've deliberately bought something awful. Buying nothing shows she's not even on your radar Wink.

Is she your partner's sister or from your side of the family's partner? If the former let your partner worry about what gift to choose.

Otherwise some posh chocolates rather than tat from a discount store. If she turns her nose up at them she'll just look ungrateful and I'm sure they won't go to waste...

It’s my husband’s sister.
He would normally do this kind of stuff but he is away for work until late Christmas Eve.

Oxfam or another charity 'gift' or donation - then you've a) bought something; b) not actually given her anything & c) given something to someone who actually needs it rather than wasting your money on a cheap toiletries set etc that will likely end up in a charity shop eventually but won't earn as much as if you'd just given the money to charity.

I'd love my SIL to give me a charity donation gift. There's only so many Boots 3 for 2 hand cream sets any woman needs.

But I still take considerable time, trouble and expense to buy her something thoughtful that she will like, as I am passive aggressive like thatGrin

Tin of Scottish shortbread from Marks with nice picture on. It's a decent gift, looks good but quite innocuous.

(I had one last year with a stag on it, said it was limited edition, it was/is beautiful - the people who gave it to me don't hate me though :-). )
