When do you all put your tree up for Christmas?
Saw on Instagram today 4 people I know who have put their tree up today! 😳

Not until the week before Christmas, as I'd be sick of it by mid-December otherwise! It stays up until 12th night. I don't like to see trees up before Advent has begun.

GrandMoff · 02/11/2019 00:28

The day after the kids have broken up. Real tree from Christmas tree farm in the village (go and choose growing tree to be cut down, takes hours to agree which one!).

highheelsandweathercocks · 02/11/2019 07:25

When they you take yours down?

Mine comes down New Year's Eve. I like to start the new year completely clear of it all. Which is one of the reasons it goes up around the 7th. Growing up it would always go up around the 15/20th but then come down the week after New Year, so up for a similar amount of time as I do now.

highheelsandweathercocks · 02/11/2019 07:26

When do not they. Cheers autocorrect.

Yika · 02/11/2019 07:30

Mid-December.

Sipperskipper · 02/11/2019 07:31

Usually 1st December, but we are out for a family lunch that day, so will be Sat 30th November.

Bickles · 02/11/2019 07:32

15th December but we have cats so can’t have it for too long.

Bickles · 02/11/2019 07:33

It will come down on either New Years Day or 4th January.

needmoresleep1 · 02/11/2019 07:33

Mines up! 1st November every year

bluechameleon · 02/11/2019 07:35

We usually do it the first weekend in December. We buy ours from Ikea and they sell out within a few days so we buy it as soon as they go on sale which is the end of November, but it might stay in the garden for a few days before we bring it in to decorate. 2 years ago they had sold put when we went on the first Saturday in December and we had to buy a much more expensive one from Homebase so we are wise to it now!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 02/11/2019 07:36

Start of December but I can sort of understand people putting them up early - people seem to spend a fortune on the decorations these days and it seems a shame to only display them for a couple of weeks.

IWouldBeSuperb · 02/11/2019 07:38

Ooh, can you share a photo @needmoresleep1 ?

Booksandwine80 · 02/11/2019 07:38

After DH’s birthday which is 6th December. Every year I say we’re having a real one and we never get one Sad

joffreyscoffees · 02/11/2019 07:41

As close to the 1st December as possible, if we're busy the first weekend of December then I have no problem putting it up at the end of November.

It comes down on the 27th though, would be Boxing Day if I had my way.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 02/11/2019 07:42

1st Dec here too!

Bloodybridget · 02/11/2019 07:44

We're having a pre-Christmas meal with family on 14th December, so I reckon we'll get the tree up for that. Always have a real one.

siriusblackthemischieviouscat · 02/11/2019 07:46

My cousin was saying she wanted to put hers up today. Each to their own but its a tad early.

Ours goes up towards the end of November usually after the town lights switch on. I like them all up and ready for the 1st and they take a good few days to get up.

HerkyBaby · 02/11/2019 07:46

Last weekend in November. I currently have three trees and am considering a fourth.....!

orangeteal · 02/11/2019 07:54

Normally the first weekend of December, but we're busy this year so will probably have to be the 7th which feels late!

topcat2014 · 02/11/2019 08:01

The Saturday before Christmas, or maybe the week before

TheSecretJeven · 02/11/2019 08:05

Usually about a week before Christmas. No point putting it up before you've decluttered for Christmas.

wineisnecessary · 02/11/2019 08:09

Usually the 2nd weekend in December but this year getting a real one so may leave it a little later , I take everything down the 2nd January.

woodhill · 02/11/2019 08:10

Middle of December at the earliest

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 02/11/2019 08:11

When school breaks up and it’s the actual holiday.

NameChange84 · 02/11/2019 08:11

I'm traditional and like PPs, the 1st day of Christmas is Christmas Eve. Prior to that we are in advent, waiting for Christmas. The tree usually goes up on the 2nd Sunday in Advent and stays up until Epiphany on 6th January.
