Thanks @VividImagination for title.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles HaloHalloween BiscuitThankswhat a lovely thing to do. Xoxoxo

Ratbagcatbag · 04/11/2019 20:43

@AstrosFan

Metal detectors are a whole world of their own.

Garrett ace is probably around your best bet for budget second hand. They're water proof so going out in the rain is ok and searching on beaches.

That's probably your better option so it's a decent adult one.

But, things to consider. Where will she use it? You'll need permission to go into fields etc, and she'll need accompanying.

There are groups out there though that can help, and have organised digs too. If you search for one of those you may get someone really helpful who will give many more pointers on which is the best for your budget.

You can also get some really nice hardback books on treasure hunting/detectoring too. Usually around £10 from Amazon and it shows what people have found etc.

With QVC you can either have £5 off OR pay in instalments.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 04/11/2019 20:48

mrsdiddlydoo · 04/11/2019 20:49

@mrschrimbo74 thanks for the console link. Bought 2 for gaming mad 7 year olds. Found navigating the studio website a bit Hmm to make a cash purchase but hopefully also got 7.35% cashback through tcb as a new customer. Result Star

Raindancer411 · 04/11/2019 20:57

Heads up but if anyone saves nectar points, the double up is soon. Last year we doubled up our £100 points to £200 and the switch cost us £80 cash

Bickles · 04/11/2019 21:19

That was quick! Thank you

Stolenidentity · 04/11/2019 21:20

For all those looking for giant teddies in different animals, Wilko had an octopus for £15.

ADayAlwaysHasToEnd · 04/11/2019 21:22

Typo also have Harry Potter wrapping paper

Unihorn · 04/11/2019 21:24

Lc2006 thank you so much, it's my daughter's 3rd birthday just before Christmas and she's suddenly announced she would like a rocking horse!

AstrosFan · 04/11/2019 21:29

@Ratbagcatbag Who knew metal detecting was such a thing! I think she just fancies a walk along the beach (we live by the coast so are on the beach at least weekly, even in winter, and daily in summer) I don’t think she’s in any way serious about it - just thinks it would be a bit of fun!

MrsLem · 04/11/2019 21:45

Anyone that liked mystery bag clothes for kids...Little Footprint have just released their bags. £32.50 for at least £70. I've been mostly lucky with them in the past Smile

Elpheba · 04/11/2019 21:55

A slightly odd request, I’m after a travel mug but a “bad” one in that I don’t want it to keep my drink too hot! I just want to be able to use it safely in the car/moving around but too not be good at keeping it at hot hot temperature. Bonus points if it has a fun print! Thanks so much.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 04/11/2019 21:56

Tk has this adorable pink unicorn whale soft toy www.tkmaxx.com/kids+toys/toys/soft-toys+animals/fuschia-unicorn-whale/p/45268340

DreamingofSunshine · 04/11/2019 22:01

@bakingcupcakes I have the blue aldi dolls house for DS, it's lovely.

I agree with @CatLadyInTraining I got one of the chillys bottles in tk maxx and it's so much better than my wilko one.

princessbear80 · 04/11/2019 22:06

I can’t get the code to work unkindness, I wonder if it’s account specific. Would you mind posting a link to the plug please, in case I’m trying the wrong one.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/11/2019 22:14

@princessbear, it's only for Prime customers who haven't had it before, I think.

princessbear80 · 04/11/2019 22:18

noword I’m a prime customer and I haven’t ordered one before. Must be some other reason Amazon are leaving me out! I can wait... thanks

wibdib · 04/11/2019 22:19

Sad to hear that the Wilko bottles aren’t as good as the chillys ones - I usually get a job lot of presents for late teens through to late 20s, that cost about a fiver. Was thinking that the wilkos bottles would sort everyone out, especially as they could all have the same present in a different colour...

Seems like it is back to the drawing board on that one...

For anyone else in a similar predicament looking for cheap presents for that sort of age group, in previous years I’ve given a mug cake recipe book (bargainous deal at The Works) with nice Asda Xmas mug, Asda (then!) £5 Christmas micro plush fleeces, and last year ice towels which had been recommended on previous Xmas bargain threads. Unfortunately summer wasn’t as hot this year but I live in hope! I got the ice towels from amazon - there are some dirt cheap fakes that don’t work and are itchy. I got cheapish ones that were made by Jonhen or Bahlvit - in a Multi pack to make them cheaper (they came packed individually still). I’d tried both both brands during the previous super hot summer and they both made a substantial difference. They’re also good for doing sports.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/11/2019 22:26

It's this one, princess.
