Thanks @VividImagination for title.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

I also don’t think chocolates always go down well - imagine if they’d got 11 big tubs each! At least body spray can be used up and doesn’t go off. It’s really hard when you don’t know people well and still want to give a token present.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 03/11/2019 12:36

Was there a John Lewis code?

Scrolled back (on app) but may have missed it or I am imagining things

VividImagination · 03/11/2019 12:56

@jammiebammie I got the Christmas crackers from Yankee bundles for my neighbors. £5 each and 5% off for subscribers rrp £10.

My 13 year old son likes “nice” toiletries. Particularly mini shampoos and shower gel in nice boxes. He hides them from his brothers. He also likes a nice mug or glass, I’ve got him Harry Potter ones this year. Water bottles and stationary are also popular.

UrbanMage · 03/11/2019 12:59

I work with teenagers. They love sweets and junk like that. You could do them a gift bag hamper of treats. Also Aldi often do water bottles etc for cheaps.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 03/11/2019 13:03

Thanks for these amazing threads! I used someone’s cox and cox referral, thank you for that!
Is anyone else’s cox and cox order taking aaaaages to be dispatched?

FluffyAlpaca19 · 03/11/2019 13:27

@jammiebammie for couples presents last year I made chocolate cherry bark and just gave them a bag of that tied with nice ribbon. For some people I added a bottle of port that I'd bought in a special offer (natch!)

this year I'm going to do the same, but with white chocolate and cardamom tablet which I've done a practice run on and is delicious. keeps the budget comfortably under £10 per couple and I kid myself that it feels 'thoughtful' because I've made them something!

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 03/11/2019 13:33

regarding the teenagers, are they the kind of kids that might appreciate a book? you could go with something like A Christmas Carol (which I read every year and and is great by the way!), plus some sweets / chocolate?

IdleBet · 03/11/2019 13:41

Does anybody have any ideas for a David Attenborough/Planet Earth fan other than DVDs or books?

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 03/11/2019 13:45

Anyone laptop savvy who can help me? Max spend £200, ideally more like £150 - only need it for homework, internet and email. Not for gaming. Anyone bought one?
My contribution is giant Toblerones ( not seen often out of airports by me) inLidl for £3
Chocolate oranges at Iceland for £1. Again I've banned myself from buying as I've eaten 6 so far

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 03/11/2019 13:51

@posterWhoopstheregomyinsides for that money and for what you want to do with it, I'd be looking for a chromebook

wibdib · 03/11/2019 13:52

The Wilko £5 chilly style water bottles were going down well on a previous early thread - they might be good for everyone to get one - even better if you can get a different design for each family member. If you want something else to go with it, maybe an ice cube tray/bags that makes long sticks of ice to go into a bottle rather than cubes that don't fit and a reusable straw each and/or a box of the green and blacks little bars @£5.50 to share?

double wall bottle options

wibdib · 03/11/2019 13:54

Oh and meant to say - depending on how old the dc are and which exam board they do, my ds is doing A Christmas Carol in y10 for his GCSEs and I think it will be done by the year behind him and maybe the next one too - so they may well end up with a copy of A Christmas Carol anyway, that they need to have the specific version of to all read in class together...

NoSquirrels · 03/11/2019 13:55

IdleBet sponsor an animal? Depends on budget, though! Or a National Geographic magazine subscription- sometimes on offer?

minsmum · 03/11/2019 13:57

Anyone got any codes for Adidas, my dd wants specific Stan Smith's for her birthday

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 03/11/2019 13:59

@Goingovertosusanshouse yes! Last time I ordered and it was despatched really quickly but I put in two more orders on Tuesday as I had been waiting for pay day and got an email saying there were delays with despatch

VividImagination · 03/11/2019 14:16

Can anyone remember off hand where the Echo dot and plug deal was from? I’m scrolling back and can’t see it. Do you think that will be the best deal I will get now? If it’s still on of course!

MrsReacher85 · 03/11/2019 14:17

@minsmum office had 20% off everything earlier this week- I bought some Stan smiths for £36- but I am a kids size!

ASOS also has 20% off between 7-9 and stock some adult trainers, so they may have the ones you’re after.

imsorryiasked · 03/11/2019 14:23

@IdleBet how about a Blue Planet calendar

WineandDine · 03/11/2019 14:30

It was QVC for the Echo Dot/smart plug.
£5 off for new customers if you haven’t shopped with them before

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 03/11/2019 14:47

@PaddingtonBearHardStare (great name) - what's the difference with Chrimebook? Is my budget crap for a laptop? I've a work one but would like him to work separately without needing my laptop if poss.

VividImagination · 03/11/2019 14:50

Thank you @WineandDine. I’ve had a look and they are sold out now. Perhaps Black Friday will throw something up!

moobar · 03/11/2019 14:51

@IdleBet planet earth is doing a tour next year, got my dad tickets.

On dresses a lot of my friends are buying from popsy clothing, free delivery. Vintage type. I have not bought one but they swear by them, and the pockets.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 03/11/2019 15:18

I love the look of Popsy dresses, but I wish they weren't polyester!

Jedstre · 03/11/2019 15:24

@Whoopstheregomyinsides a chromebook is a lightweight, affordable laptop. Perfect for what you asked for and within price range of £200. Likely to be plenty of Black Friday offers.
