Thanks @VividImagination for title.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Extra 20% off at Blacks today.

@buckeejit Zelda Links Awakening is in the offer if he doesn’t have that. I’d also look at Mario Odyssey, acclaimed as one of the best Mario games ever! He may also like Luigis Mansion which is brand new out this week and in the offer. It’s probably a bit ‘scary’ for my 6yo! 🤣

Mario Maker 2 if he’s the type to want to build/make his own Mario levels. This is right up my sons street as he’s building obsessed and may well end up as a coder in later life! I work in app/games development myself, so I personally think this is both fun and educational for them.

I second the whsmith offer and am reminding you to through quidco as its 8% cashback.

They have 1000piece puzzles at 2 for £20 and all their christmas wrap is half price AND the 10% off works on those offer too (so the puzzles I bought were £9 each and the wrap came to £3.14 for 2 rolls. And I got £1.50 cashback tracking)

@RJnomore1 - what's the typo store? I've missed that one

RJnomore1 · 03/11/2019 10:14

It’s just typo.com I think - lots of fun bits on it. I googled typo to get to it last night.

duckling84 · 03/11/2019 10:17

@WisestIsShe popsy will be releasing Christmas dresses very soon (they have sneak peeks on their facebook page).

They are all handmade in the uk as well and go up to plus sizes.

Has anyone got any super bargainous ideas for couples presents? I’ve got 3 couples I have to buy for, really just a minding. Last year I just got them a box of the green and blacks chocolates but one of the couples is diabetic so can’t get food/chocolate this year. I also have to get 2 boys 10 & 14 and ideally would only spend a fiver (I know that sounds cheap but it’s a tight year!) I’m really stumped. I don’t know them all very well, distant family but not worth any fall out if I don’t buy anything - I tried the no gifts for a couple of years and it didn’t go down well with anyone 😬

Body shop have £10 off a £30 spend with code 19805 Not sure if there are any exclusions but may help if someone is buying things anyway.

IggyAce · 03/11/2019 10:47

@jammiebammie for the boys I would suggest a lynx gift set, my local Savers are selling them for £2.67. You could then add some sweets or stationary.

RJnomore1 · 03/11/2019 10:54

What about looking on that Yankee bundles website for the couples? There’s usually an intro code too for more off.

Justapatchofgrass · 03/11/2019 11:05

@jammiebammie for the boys I would suggest a lynx gift set, my local Savers are selling them for £2.67. You could then add some sweets or stationary.

Please please don't get lynx. It is cheap deodorant- putting it in a box doesn't make it a suitable gift. Would you give a teenage girl tampax?

We had years of my boys being given toiletries- it was a total waste of time and money and they were always really disappointed. You don't give essentials as gifts.

Just get a tub of celebrations- they are £5 in morrisons.

Unihorn · 03/11/2019 11:15

Do Typo ever do free delivery codes? There's some lovely stuff in the sale including a super cheap door mat I've got an eye on for Secret Santa but but £4 delivery just doesn't make it worth it, and I don't really want to spend £25 on there, though I'm sure I could...

sideorderofchips · 03/11/2019 11:25

I give my nephews a lynx set as something to unwrap and they get money each too. They ask for lynx sets.

We give people toiletry sets, ie shower gels etc as gifts. What’s wrong with that? Mine also get character toothpaste in their stockings. I always think better to give something useful than something that would be thrown in a cupboard.

Fantababy · 03/11/2019 11:36

I know they were slated on another thread but how about a restaurant / cinema voucher for couples? I'd appreciate even a Zizzis card or similar as we take the kids there sometimes and it'd make it a bit more affordable. Same with the cinema - if you go anyway it just saves you the money. (If babysitters aren't an issue - on the rare occasion I have a babysitter these days I'd rather go to the pub than the cinema.Grin)

PunKinMoon · 03/11/2019 11:36

If you want lots of stationery bits to put in stockings or put in a gift box for someone, I reccomend Papergang- I get a free box if you use my link in the referrals thread, but this link is NOT the referral link.

It's £14 for a box of lovely pens, notebooks, accessories and more each month (cancel anytime). November's theme is Hygge, and if you use codeMYSTNOV19you get an extra mystery box for free... double stocking filler opportunity!!

PunKinMoon · 03/11/2019 11:38

Ack... bold fail on the free extra box code! MYSTNOV19

ASOS doing 20% off till 9pm today with code HURRY20, if it helps anyone

Justapatchofgrass · 03/11/2019 11:55

Gifts should give joy. They should be personal.
Don't just give stuff for the sake of giving.

Lynx is £1 all year round. Lots of young people won't use spray deodorants anyway as they impact environmentally.

If you don't know a teen well enough to get them a personal gift that gives joy (and most of us probably don't) then just give cash.

My 3 got 22 cans of deodorant between them 1 year. There was no joy. By the end they were feeling the packets and playing lets guess which type (the givers were not present) . This was really all that they got from relatives- generic thoughtless Boots 3 for 2 gift sets.

This is my bugbear but we had years of it- and we always said no gifts.

Jammiebammie · 03/11/2019 11:59

Thank you everyone for ideas so far.

Hadn’t thought of lynx sets/smellies for the boys. My girls like getting body sprays etc so don’t really see the difference, it’s something to keep in mind anyway. One of the boys can’t eat chocolate either so sadly couldn’t get a tub of celebrations which would probably be much easier!
For the couples I still think vouchers would be too dear, ideally I’d spend less than a tenner per couple (the green and blacks were only £5.50 iirc although they looked more expensive). Looked on the Yankee site but couldn’t see anything the right price there either, god I sound a right cheapskate don’t I? Blush

PunKinMoon · 03/11/2019 12:02

What about those eco friendly deodorant balms that have been linked to?

lolarabbit · 03/11/2019 12:03

@jammiebammie have you looked at Debenhams 3 for 2 gifts? Prices start at about £8 (3 for £16 - maths genius!) and I saw a few things that might suit older boys. My favourite is the LED light and phoneholder here and they also have a chocolate games controller.

CarrotVan · 03/11/2019 12:10

How about trawling charity shops for nice bowls and planting up some hyacinth bulbs?

Cheap, environmentally friendly and inoffensive

CarrotVan · 03/11/2019 12:13

For the boys things like phone grips/stands or fidget puzzles like Rubik’s cubes

Or if you know what their interests are you could get those massive papier mache initials from The Works or similar and decoupage them in Marvel/Fortnite/D&D etc paper

CarrotVan · 03/11/2019 12:14

I am nearly done for core presents I think. I’ve done MIL, Mum, the kids

My Dad and DH are always harder

NoWordForFluffy · 03/11/2019 12:26

Having been on MN for years, will always take offence, no matter what they get!
