Mrs, there's a picture of a head with a cross next to it as you're reading the message.

My two have names which drift in and out of the top 100. There's a vague alternative to DD's name which has been number 1, or close, for years. And DS' name dropped out the year after he was born. No idea where it is now; we don't come across many though.

MrsMad they are consistently popular - top 20 for sure 🤷🏻‍♀️. DD1's name isn't on the charts but I love it. It not a unique name though - I'm not that imaginative.

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/11/2019 20:06

flouncy my friend's cat answered to the name of ShitFace.

RoseToes · 04/11/2019 20:07

I got confused, it’s DS2 who’s name is number 1 and DS1 who’s in the top 50 Blush.

Fluffy l can;t see the skull and crossbones Grin

CrazyBaubles · 04/11/2019 20:26

That's a lot of house for the money in that part of Cardiff MrsMad. I like it!

Looking at names, I don't think mine has ever been in the top 100 (I've only met 2 others) and DSis name is very unique, never heard of another.

Ddogs however - we know quite a few children with their names 😂 Although they respond to their names, their full names (with surname) him / her and ahem 😂

Pretty sure all 5 of my nieces and nephews names are in the top 100. Youngest Niece and nephew are top 20 I think. DSis did it on purpose, she doesn't like having a name that people can't read and she never had anything with her name on when we were younger.

DH has announced today that he thinks we should give more homemade or experience gifts. I could kill him, I've been trying to talk to him about this for weeks and he wouldn't because "it's too early to think about Christmas" and now I don't have enough time.

Anyway, no more moaning. I'm joining you in a Wine Fluffy and working away on my snowdog cross stitch... pic attached.

Ahh thank you Crazy ♥️🤗
I like the house but worry about it being right next to the train lines. It's the main London route trains from 5am till 11.30pm. 🙄😬
Also the damn knotweed 🤪
Fancy your DH being so naughty Crazy, it's disappointing for you , l bet you would have loved making things 💐

Mrsmadevans · 04/11/2019 20:36

Fanny you are a clever girl thank you so much Smile Flowers

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/11/2019 20:42

I grew up under the flight path of Liverpool airport. You get used to the noise and it's actually quite soothing. Apart from when Concord landed/took off on Grand National day. That was loud 🙉

RoseToes · 04/11/2019 20:44

crazy I’d love an unusual name myself, but my names very popular. Fancy your DH telling you so late!.

Mrs the house looks lush to me. How does she feel about the railway lines?

NoWordForFluffy · 04/11/2019 20:49

Nice house, Mrs. If a bit too monochrome for me!

I've checked and DS is top 100 in Wales only, and not in the combined 100. DD is in neither (variants / similar ones in there, but not her name).

She doesn't mind about the railway lines Xmas Grin Rose
She is daft, there are 4 lines and in the night there is freight going up and down Grin l do like the look of it though and it's a good buy l think.

RoseToes · 04/11/2019 21:12

Mrs I couldn’t hack that noise, but if she can then she should go for it. It seems like a great buy, and being a 3 bed she could grow with it.

Mrsmadevans · 04/11/2019 21:16

Me neither Grin
Crazy your cross stitch is so neat ! Well done you have picked it up so quickly!

CrazyBaubles · 04/11/2019 21:27

Thank you MrsMad

And yes, I agree with you all, my DH is a pain in the arse!

With train lines, my Nan used to live in a council house in Croesyceiliog and the train line runs behind it.
When I was little, she had single pane, aluminium windows and everyone slept through the trains. Even I did if I stayed for more than 2 nights in a row, you get used to it so she'll be fine.

I agree it needs some colour, MrsM, but other than that it's a lovely house. Has she viewed it yet? That should give some idea of what the noise is like. Worth bearing in mind it'll be louder at night. But if it doesn't put her off, it looks like a good home to grow with.

My name is very 80s, as anyone I've PMd will have noticed Grin. DS's was also popular in the 80s, dropped off and then popped into the top 100 2 years after he was born. It's currently hanging in at the bottom... The site I looked at also had a section looking at names by age - apparently older mothers tended to go for more traditional names and younger mothers for more modern/hyphenated ones.

We have a very traditional surname, so anything modern just doesn't sound right with it, but I've always loved DS's name ever since DSis brought home her first boyfriend Wink

One DCat has a top 100 name, the other has a name you would be reported to SS for if you gave it to a child!

DSis had problems conceiving, bought a cockapoo and called him her favourite name, then had DN. It took three weeks to pick a name for the baby, he was very nearly named after the dog! Grin

CrazyBaubles · 04/11/2019 23:36

While I was spluttering and looking murderous DH was quick to jump in and talk about him baking cakes and biscuits for people flouncy. He's an excellent baker while I can't make edible goodies.
It didn't make me any less 🤬 though.

We settled on more experience gifts (which I much prefer giving anyway) and I'll make what I can (I've done bunting for mum, mini jumpers for niece & nephews and most of a wreath for friend 1. Will do cross stitches for friends 2 & 3. Then I'm going to attempt a cardigan for niece (at dsis request). If there's any time after that I'll try to do something for my nephew.
DH is going to provide baked goods for dads hamper, both SILs, FIL and 2 of my friends.

As for names, I'm quite happy with mine. My dad had a bit of a rough, dysfunctional childhood but there was an older Scottish lady who basically provided him with food when he didn't have any, took him in when he needed it, donated him clothes - I'm named after her 🙂 which is why I'm dads favourite Xmas Grin----

RoseToes · 05/11/2019 00:00

crazy that’s a lovely story about your name. My parents just liked mine. DH really drew the short straw with his name, he’s named after his grandad and his name is just not to my taste, or most people’s.
