@sideorderofchips really? We bought 3 and all 3 broke within 2 months

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2019 09:19

I got my Green and Blacks in Tesco yesterday. There were loads left in the seasonal aisle.

ReindeerPoop · 31/10/2019 09:23

We’ve been really impressed with Hype Backpacks too, we did have one that the buckle snapped on but have had 5/6 that have been fab and laser ears

princessbear80 · 31/10/2019 09:27

I got my cheap echo dot yesterday, thank you to this group!

Wondering if you can help me. The dot wasn’t a present, we wanted one anyway. But as a present, I want to get DS a colour changing lamp that he can control with the dot. What do I need? Any recommendations? Ideally I’d like it to have different brightness settings too. I’m hoping you wise ones can help! Thsnks

Justapatchofgrass · 31/10/2019 09:32

l'occitane is on topcashback and there is a £2.50 bonus halloween promotion today.

thaegumathteth · 31/10/2019 09:36

@ReindeerPoop I wonder if we got some from a dodgy batch then

LikeSilver · 31/10/2019 09:48

Ooh @princessbear80 I didn’t know DD needed a colour changing lamp for her dot but she does now! Grin

TheGlaikitRambler · 31/10/2019 10:00

princessbear80 I don't know about a lamp that is controlled by the Dot, but you can get Smart Plugs that you can plug in any lamp into, and that is controlled by the Dot. We have them for our lamps & bedroom fan, brilliant not getting out of bed to turn them on/off Grin

Some money off codes for my first years on attached photo, they have lovely personalised things for babies and toddlers, and they come beautifully packaged

Another Dot question... could anyone explain how I can set audio books up for my 6yo? Thanks

gaggiagirl · 31/10/2019 10:28

@princessbear80 it's the bulb you need and not a lamp. Any cheap lamp will do, even one you already have. Next step is to get a colour changing smart bulb that will fit into the lamp socket. Amazon sell these starting at £9 going all the way up to the fabulous Philips hue ones for £40.
Once you've set your bulb up you should be able to use voice commands to change the colour/cycle the colours/on/off etc.
We have Philips hue throughout the entire house but you would need a bridge for the hue.

gaggiagirl · 31/10/2019 10:30

These bulbs can also be controlled via an app. I love mine but they drive DH nuts.

PinkDaydreams · 31/10/2019 10:32

I’ve been looking at the hive bulbs as we have a hive. I’m hoping they come down a little in price on Black Friday. I want a normal coloured one though, I haven’t got the need for the fancy colour changing ones!

hoopdeloop · 31/10/2019 10:34

@wornoutboots could you get a small token present related to the game to wrap up and open? Just like a super mario T-shirt if that was the game and then a little note to say he has the game as well?

princessbear80 · 31/10/2019 10:35

Thank you everyone! Just so I get the right thing... if I get a smart bulb, I don’t need a smart plug too... is that right?

Fantababy · 31/10/2019 10:35

I think Hive bulbs have come down on Black Friday before - We have them all over the bloody house and think DH bought a batch last year on Black Friday. I don't think he's ever bought any full price.

princessbear80 · 31/10/2019 10:36

Glad I could help @LikeSilver - of course she needs a colour changing lamp SmileWink

TheGlaikitRambler · 31/10/2019 10:42

Either bulb or plug, not both.

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 31/10/2019 10:44

My marmalade gin from the British food magazine subscription has just arrived- it looks amazing! I did email the company last week to enquire its whereabouts and they said it'll arrive within 28 days of the direct debit coming out.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 31/10/2019 10:44

We have had various hype backpacks - mine has lasted years, now my work bag as I got a new one (used since that year we all got bags for about £4/5 each..) but dh had a spongebob one and it broke quickly. I think the standard ones are fine but the character ones aren't as good.

I've currently got a loungefly Disney one which is beautiful and lasting well. think my sister got it from EMP on sale.

and if anyone needs a friend for the giant sloths Iceland had huge chimanzees, elephants and unicorns. no idea on price we saw them in the window! not sure if they would deliver with their £25 free home delivery....

Stupid me posted my personal details!
Anyway, screenshot of binoculars previously recommended by other mumsnetters for my mother. Amazon reviews are good.
