Dd also has a birthday quite close to Christmas so I'm always looking for ideas. She has a phone, tablet etc so doesn't need any technology. It feels like it gets harder to buy things as they get older and it obviously gets more expensive!
Thanks.

Either a new bike or a sewing machine. Or possibly some stuff for her bedroom - beanbag, some lighting she loves, decorations, pin board etc.

Itstheprinciple · 22/10/2019 14:29

My DD has asked for a new bike which I'm pleased about as quite easy!

She also has a birthday close to Christmas so I usually get her an experience for that so tickets to a concert or show or a young driver experience as she's usually all 'stuffed' out by then.

Joyfulincolour · 22/10/2019 14:51

Yes, having a big present in mind does help. I like the idea of a present for Christmas and an experience for her birthday- just need to decide what! Thanks.

Not got one myself but I do know a 12 year old getting

Lush goodies
Hoodie
Pajamas
Dressing gown
Trainers
Yoga mat
Harry Potter Lego
Lego technic
Light up mirror
Accesorize handbag
Earrings
Selection box

Guess it depends on your 12 year old

Snap, I have a 12 yo with a birthday near Xmas. She has asked for a nice watch (already got a bike). Got her phone and an activity monitor last year; never get an active child an activity monitor. She was averaging 20000 steps a day, and 2 hours of exercise, it's exhausting just thinking about what she does.

BearSoFair · 22/10/2019 17:08

I had to start a thread a couple of weeks ago asking the same, 12 seems such a hard age to buy for! Not yet really into clothes or make up, but definitely not a child wanting toys either.

So far we've got DD:
Chameleon markers
Bubble tea set
Truth Bombs game

Grandparents have got her metallic colouring pencils and 2 Harry Potter sweatshirts.

Someone on my thread suggested a sewing machine but when I tried to guage DD's interest she didn't seem as interested as I expected she might so that ended up being a pass, I did think it was a great idea though.

iwantavuvezela · 22/10/2019 17:12

bearsfair do you have a link that the bubble tea set?

Tailfeather · 22/10/2019 19:32

A manicure cushion https://www.notanotherbunchofflowers.com/products/coz-e-nailbar-manicure-cushion-bees?pos=1&&sid=918c060c8&ss=r and set of nail varnishes, stuff from Lush and some clothes.

bagginses · 22/10/2019 19:36

We are going for tickets for a show I think. We were looking at a sprocket too.

ProfYaffle · 22/10/2019 19:44

That's the most awesome suggestion on the thread yet Grin. DD1 got cushions last year and I'm just thinking her and her sister want a desk and chair for theie bedroom so maybe that should be a Christmas present rather than buying lots of 'stufd' they don't need.

There's no interest in makeup and pampering here, closest she gets is having a bath after football Hmm, maybe I should get her new football boots.

wonderstuff · 22/10/2019 21:05

Mines asked for a drum kit! Shes just started lessons. Another one with birthday and Christmas close, a few years ago, at her request we didn't get her much for Christmas but instead had a summer unbirthday. Think I might do cinema tickets for Christmas this year...

BearSoFair · 22/10/2019 21:37

@iwantavuvuzela We're getting the tea set from here: www.bobalife.co.uk/product/gift-box-12-drinks-box/

Sunshine1239 · 23/10/2019 09:25

Dd is 12 and asked for morphe makeup, VS pink hoody, water bottle

She mainly wants nicer clothes - possibly a posh top with a label 🙄

She’s copying my older dd who’s entire school seems to be into brands

sansou · 23/10/2019 12:14

Sales is the answer to branded clothing. I picked up a hoody and t-shirt from Superdry for DD in the summer sales.

Joyfulincolour · 23/10/2019 13:28

I'm glad I asked! There are so many things here that I've never heard of and I'm having to look them up! 😁

The HP sprocket printer from Amazon seems to be popular on another thread atm. Cheapest on Amazon apparently.

iwantavuvezela · 23/10/2019 21:05

bearssofair thank you for that - my dd is a lover of those (overpriced) bubbleology drinks so she will love this kit. Great idea

Toomanycats99 · 23/10/2019 21:12

Sprocket and a tv for her room I think (from grandparents as well) Then maybe couple of bits of clothes if I see some in sales in new look or hennes.

Also seen some pens that do an outline and different colour inside at the same time so maybe them.

Need to think of some small bits to bulk out as she's not going to have much to open.

AmethystWoodstar · 23/10/2019 21:17

Mine wants a dungeons and dragons game - I have no idea what this involves! It seems to be just a book and some dice?

Scittle · 23/10/2019 21:21

@Toomanycats99 Do you have a link to the pens? I think dd would like them.

MeMeMeYou · 23/10/2019 21:22

Mine wants a colour change light bulb with remote control
