Mrsmadevans · 15/10/2019 09:32

I will Em 👍😀
Fanny l think we are about the same age , am 58 and Motown/disco was my era 😍 😁
Have a great day everyone 😀
Em will take pics of the Christmas stuff😊 hope that will not torture you 😁

NerosFiddle · 15/10/2019 10:16

Morning all.

Fluffy enjoy Biffy. I've seen them a few times, but mostly before they were famous. My friends dragged em along to them when I was at school in the mid/early 2000s or there abouts.

Mrs enjoy your day off.

Tescos has just been, so I'll give the house a quick once over, then I have to take DS for a hearing appointment in a hospital 2 hours away. Then home for bubbles and 🎂.

CrazyBaubles · 15/10/2019 10:31

Fluffy we generally let the spindly spiders live quietly in the corners and name them things life Geoff and Dave but I noticed a week or so ago that they were disappearing. We only have a few left but there was another giant one in the bedroom when we went to bed last night. I hate them!

Firefly you're on a bit of a bad luck roll. Hope it ends soon.

MrsMad a local mn meet up would be fun - I bet it'd be non stop chitter chatter Xmas Grin. Unfortunately I am in work too 😔 but in Newport today so I'm close by!

Neros I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday!

I slept for almost 10 hours last night. I never do that unless I'm ill, I think my first day back in the office wore me out!
I'm currently making a crochet list of things to make before Christmas in a little notepad because my computer is broken and IT are currently on their second attempt to fix it and there are no spare desks today.

Anyone who does cross stitch - how do you know where on the pattern to start? And do you have multiple needles threaded with the different colours all set up before you begin! Or do you stop and rethread every time you change colour?
I still haven't attempted one. am considering trying tonight but I have so many questions 🙄

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/10/2019 11:03

Crazy I have only dabbled in cross stitch so someone more knowledgeable may contradict me but I usually fold my fabric into quarters to find the centre and start there. The cross stitch patterns I've used has the centre stitch marked and I start with that. In practice I usually start at the beginning of that row in that particular colour at how ever many stitches to the left of the centre I need to be in order to work the centre stitch on the centre point. Then I work in rows of that colour until I've done that section. Change threads and carry on to the next section.

This means that your work is centred on your fabric.

One needle and change colour each time. I suppose for something with up to half a dozen colours I could have lots of different needles but I'm never really that prepared.

EmrysAtticus · 15/10/2019 11:48

Same as woolly. Start in the centre and use the one needle

NoWordForFluffy · 15/10/2019 14:07

Yep. Middle to start. I do all of one colour in the hoop then go onto the next colour.

I'm currently cross stitching on the train!

Cheers! Cider 2 on the go!

It's hard to cross stitch on the train, it has to be said!

Flouncy, I'm 43 next month. I like bands who I've known for ages. I first saw Biffy in Limoges in 2009!

CrazyBaubles · 15/10/2019 16:17

I'm so glad I asked, I was thinking of picking an edge and starting there, would never have occurred to me to start in the middle. I think I'm approaching it like a jigsaw puzzle 😂

I love your cross stitch Fluffy and jealous of your mid afternoon cider.
Have a lovely time!

flouncy what is evenweave?
I have a beginners kit from Aldi which I've had for 18months and not even attempted yet!

Slow down MrsMad! Xmas Grin

I'm on a home-time countdown from work. I've somehow been very productive considering my computer has been broken, can't wait to get home now. DH is making veggie tortillas using finely chopped cauliflower and mushrooms for tea 👍🏻

WreckTangled · 15/10/2019 19:37

I made myself a low carb bit chocolate and put a drip of almond extract in it. Delicious! I'll have finished it before bake off though.

Have had a rubbish evening. Ds was being an absolute nightmare and refusing to go up to bed so dh carried him up and then basically moaned about how he's always the bad guy (not true I had been trying to get ds up for ages) and then ds screamed for him for about half an hour before dh went up and is still with him now ergo teaching him that all he has to do is scream and he gets his own way. The whole time he was screaming I was outside his room offering to lie with him/said to stop screaming and I would come in. Humph. Sorry for the moan.

The frittata was really filling so that's good.

FireflyGirl · 15/10/2019 20:23

I hate those types of nights, Wreck. And they're harder when you are both knackered and can't work together because the little sods sense weakness and go for the kill. Hang in there Wine

Had a total fail at shopping today, as well. Went to Aldi, closed for renovations. So, went to Sainsburys across the way. 1/3 of the shop was closed off (they're revamping the homeware section anyway, and presumably the rest was getting ready for the toy sale tomorrow).

Isn't there an urban myth about if you really hate someone, instead of killing them, curse them with a lifetime of inconveniences. I think I have an enemy somewhere...

On the plus side, though, they had just gotten their Christmas food brochures in. Hopefully some of the other stores will start getting them in soon Grin

Mrsmadevans · 15/10/2019 20:58

Wreck, they seem to do this when you want to watch something you are looking forward to like GBBO, I expect he's really tired Flowers
On the other hand your choc low carb with extract of vanilla sounds delish. I have the munchies tonight so have just had 2 low cal jellies Grin
Firefly you are NOT having it easy m'dear Flowers they seem to be renovating an awful lot of Aldis atm. I can think of 3 in my local area that are being done up/extended now. They must be doing really well .
