Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Fab customer service at the brew tea company by the way. They’ve emailed me back straight away regarding colour of a product. They’ve said they’ve been busy lately.......probably because of us mumsnetters!! 😊🎄☕️

PinkDaydreams · 30/09/2019 14:14

I feel I’m missing out on the train Sad

CamdenTownie · 30/09/2019 14:14

I've had my dispatch confirmation from Dr. Botanicals but when I click the tracking link Hermes tells me they have no record of my delivery 🤔

I'm a little concerned 😟

TalkingOrmer · 30/09/2019 14:17

@vavavoomdeboom your full name is on that link. If you want MNHQ to delete your post? Also there is a referral thread. 😊

Serenity25 · 30/09/2019 14:22

Thanks For the l’occitane tip. Got a few free samples & a reduced hand cream duo.
If you aren’t spending £35 to get the free delivery, I used the code PWEL1819, which was for 2 free mini hand creams with a £15 spend, but it also gave me free standard delivery.

vavavoomdeboom · 30/09/2019 14:37

@TalkingOrmer

Thanks. Not that fussed about my name. I did post on the referral thread then told to post here Confused

vavavoomdeboom · 30/09/2019 14:38

@TalkingOrmer

Or did you mean a Christmas referral thread??? So confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dolphintrainer · 30/09/2019 14:39

@Shantotto my son has nearly all the Bruder. He’s nearly 7 now and has a special need. He’s been obsessed! 2 tips - 1. Set up a camel alert. They do get reduced occasionally on amazon and you may get lucky. 2. Check out Amazon.de - we have ordered many from there as even once Amazon adds the delivery it usually has worked out cheaper. Use the site converted into English and you can go through right to the last screen so you can see what their postage is, before you commit. And the price will vary every few days so keep an eye on it even on there.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 30/09/2019 14:44

On the subject of the Contigo travel mugs is the Autoseal one the one to get?

I see they do one that's cheaper (Byron?). What's the difference?

I want to get DP one but want a deal to pop up (naturally!)

CupCupGoose · 30/09/2019 14:58

Is it sad to get home from work and be disappointed that I don't have any parcels today?

imsorryiasked · 30/09/2019 15:00

@Shantotto smyths have it cheaper

Jammiebammie · 30/09/2019 15:04

Glad some are getting use of the loccitane codes.

My dr b stuff came today too, although 2 things are missing so I’m presuming they’ll be in a different parcel. I’m not 100% sure if it all tbh, the rose oil seems really sticky actually but I will have to use it all properly to see what I think.

My lovely dh surprised me with a shark vacuum today, I’m very excited and I’m hoping I’ll be able to use it with the bit that pulls off (I have limited mobility). He ordered it at the weekend as they had a free £50 accessory offer and thought I’d approve of his bargain hunting.... but the numpty forgot to put the bloody code in!! He’s emailed and I’m hoping they honour it —for his sake—

I saw someone post on Facebook that Morrison have giant cuddly sloths (see pic) and also unicorns the same size for £20. Maybe the Roberts and Melvins can have a friend! I’m really wanting one for jammiedog Grin

I saw the parcel force van pulling up, the driver was a little disconcerted to see me at the door waiting for him, how did I know it was for me 😳
Anyway it was my spode bowls, gorgeous but filled with packing peanuts so take care opening.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 30/09/2019 15:08

loving that giant sloth Grin
but just came on to mention Amazon have 20% off a few bits of Harry Potter lego, including Hagrids Hut set and Hogwarts Express

Whitecandle · 30/09/2019 15:14

@Jammiebammie omg I want a sloth!!!!

princessbear80 · 30/09/2019 15:26

Got my Dr B order today. Looks and smells lovely. Just tried one of the soaps (orange and Lily). It was nice but nothing special. But for the price I’m not complaining!

Another one who can report fab customer service from the brew tea company. I paid using the wrong card on Friday. Sent them an email on Friday, they phoned me first thing this morning and promptly sorted things out for me.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 30/09/2019 15:31

@CamdenTownie Hermes don't give a tracking until they receive parcel

princessbear80 · 30/09/2019 15:33

Someone helped me identify some lifelike dog and cat soft toys earlier in the thread - perfect petzzz - thanks again. They’re about £27 on Amazon but have found a good deal on them here:
dementia.livebetterwith.com/products/companion-kitten-black-white-cat
A few different types to choose from. They’re £22 each. Code FLASH20 gives 20%. I ordered two and got free delivery.

Might be a useful site for some. They had loads of products to make life easier for those with dementia.

Barbarara · 30/09/2019 15:34

Has anyone seen cheap leopard print wrapping paper? I always wrap the dc gifts in something that’s obvious it’s for them and dd is obsessed with leopard print. Saw the Cox and Cox one which got me thinking, but it’s a bit opulent for a child, even if it’s bargainous.

Also, has anyone come across a notebook with a furry leopard print cover? I’ve seen a few printed covers but none furry.

Redwinestillfine · 30/09/2019 15:42

Another Lands End code 40% off full price items only FP40PC enjoy!

Redwinestillfine · 30/09/2019 15:55

@Barbarara Book people had notebooks with furry tiger cover.....may be worth keeping an eye out there....

Whatsername7 · 30/09/2019 15:57

I just got these for dd8 and dd2. The black and pink ones are £8.99. Other colours are £12.99. My two are constantly scribbling so this should save a tree or 2!

anonopotomus · 30/09/2019 16:15

Haven't managed to catch up with the thread lately so not sure if it's been mentioned but there's a flash sale on the Oasis (band) website on some merch. T-shirts, badge sets and tote bags for £2 each plus other things like tour programmes. Postage cost is stupid though, mine went down to £8.50 after I halved my basket as at first it was about £15 Shock. I got 5 t-shirts & two tote bags for £22.50 including postage.

Hope it helps someone.

anonopotomus · 30/09/2019 16:17

Doh, forgot Oasis link!

Does anybody have a metal detector that they would recommend for a 10 year old please?
