Yeah, Blox is really tricky to build. And then doesn't stay together. Awful stuff!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 15/09/2019 16:42

Thanks everyone Smile

banskuwansku · 15/09/2019 17:04

We have Blox base plates. They are ok with Lego. We bought them because Lego plates are too expensive.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 15/09/2019 17:13

for the poster who was looking for items related to It - Truffle Shuffle have Pennywise socks

Trumpton · 15/09/2019 17:19

I don’t know if this will work for anyone putting in a Landsend order but I have a gift voucher for £1.85 ( I spent the rest )
Voucher number 97370436.
I am not going to use it and it might not even work .

CharlW1 · 15/09/2019 17:45

- Eden Project lots of lovely presents in the Eden Project shop for those who are buying for those who want reusable, recycled items. Around Octiber they usually have 10 - 20% off gifts as well.

Barbarara · 15/09/2019 17:48

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin The base plates will probably be fine for building on. Check the bottom though to see if they connect on both sides. Some of the cheaper ones don’t so they can’t be used to make roofs and upper levels.

Dealz/Poundland have small baseplates (I think 20x20 studs) and also the flexible lego tape. I think it’s actually better than the original stuff because it comes in a flat pack rather than in a roll so you don’t have to fight the tendency to roll up. Nice little stocking filler.

beccarooney · 15/09/2019 18:36

I just ordered spring bulbs with 20% off everything till midnight tonight from Crocus online (think they are the behind the Waitrose Garden brand). Really nice unusual ones to choose from. Also Sarah Raven have 15% off all tulips this weekend.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 15/09/2019 18:47

@McAvennie, Poundland had a lovely wooden toaster and some other wooden bits for about £4 in their really odd Not a Pound toy bit. Had to resist buying them as our DD has probably begun ageing out of her toy kitchen now but they were very pretty!

CoffeeAndEnnui · 15/09/2019 18:49

I need to bite the bullet and get our DD a tablet. May I have your recommendations (and bargains) for a child who will be 9 in the new year (and will rarely use the thing if I have my way)?

DadCanIHaveAZedgie · 15/09/2019 19:10

These Lego base plates were on sale in one of the Tesco's near me (Farnworth) up in the clearance section for £3.50.

@CoffeeAndEnnui we got the dc an old ipad off music magpie and it has lasted years. i think its an ipad 1 or 2 x

CoffeeAndEnnui · 15/09/2019 19:22

I hadn't even thought of Music Magpie! Thanks so much, @sleepismysuperpower1, if I can find an affordable iPad I won't need to learn the mysteries of a whole new gadget!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 15/09/2019 19:45

@DadCanIHaveAZedgie that is a bargain! Will call into Tesco tomorrow and if not I’ll try Poundland @barbarara - Thanks everyone for your help Wine

TildaTurnip · 15/09/2019 19:48

When I click on the tv and movie store link there isn’t anything there and google isn’t helping me. Anyone have a link please?

Lc2006 · 15/09/2019 20:01

@CoffeeAndEnnui mine have the amazon fire tablets think they were around £50 last black Friday and they love them probably the best buy of last year

TakeMeToYourLiar · 15/09/2019 20:03

Just a waning on character.com I bought DS some fleecy hey dugge pyjamas on there. He wore them one night, yet to be washed and they look worn out.

Ok for us. They were cheap abd still warm. But I'd be mortified if I gave them as a gift :(

debbiewest0 · 15/09/2019 20:03

Nocutsnobutts
I got a dinosaur lover a big dinosaur scratch art book from the works for under £5 . They’ve really enjoyed scratching the pictures off and it also has colouring pages.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 15/09/2019 20:12

@Lc2006, I've got myself really confused over the Fire tablets. Did you get the children's ones or 'ordinary' tablets? And how easy is it to put apps on. Just need a bookshelf one and a maths app someone has recommended but not used to android.

Sorry for the million questions, I don't want to get this wrong. Sounds odd but I'm primarily getting it as a surprise to work with some Lego sets DD is saving up for and then will be using it for learning support afterwards. My iPad is ancient so we need something up to date.

EvilHerbivore · 15/09/2019 20:19

Think mine will need new tablets too....when is Black Friday this year?

Jennywallpaper · 15/09/2019 20:35

I've seen on a bargain page on Facebook that the smyths £10 off a £50 spend is starting soon, does anyone remember if this works on electronics? And is it £10 off per £50 so for example if one item was £150 would you get £30 off? I really can't remember how it works.

totallyLosingIt · 15/09/2019 20:43

@CoffeeAndEnnui My Grandfather got a kindle fire last Christmas and the only app he has on it is YouTube, yet it has gone incredibly painfully slow.
I've had my iPad mini since release in 2012 and it has loads of apps on it and is in daily use, but is still pretty quick.
I would 100% pick up a second hand iPad if you can. iPad minis are a similar size to the Kindle fire. The mini 1 came out in 2012, then there have been releases every or most years since, so obviously the higher version you get the newer it will be. You may struggle to download/use some apps on the earlier iPads etc as the compatibility is no longer catered for. So the newer you can get the better (though the only app I can't use on my iPad mini 1 is the Netflix app).
Normal size iPads started in 2007 I think, and again they've had an update every year, so the higher number you can get the better.

totallyLosingIt · 15/09/2019 20:46

Wowcher iPad deal, ends at midnight! Refurbished iPad mini 2 (2013 model) £79.
Refurbished iPad 2 (2008? model I think) £69.
Plus postage (£9.99)

riffleraffle · 15/09/2019 20:56

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts what about a mini schleich triceratops? £4something on amazon, very sturdy and realistic

JDSTER · 15/09/2019 21:13

If you’re familiar with iPads then I too would definitely recommend a second hand iPad over a kindle fire. The kindle just never gets used now in our house. We found it slow and just not as user friendly.
